Patent number: 4373188Abstract: Cigarette-rod weight monitoring system in which the signals from a scanner, e.g. a nucleonic device such as Molins "MODIC", are processed and stored in a memory in a digitized form, and the memory contents are used to drive an analog display device. These signals, which represent the individual cigarettes, or short lengths, are accumulated in the memory over a period which is sufficiently long for a statistically significant distribution pattern to be achieved, so that the shape of the distribution curve can be observed to determine whether it is "normal" or whether any skews or other irregularities are present. In addition the accomulated signals can be analyzed in various ways to provide quantitative measurements of overall standard deviation, or effective standard deviation either side of the mean to show whether any "skews" exist. S.D. can be calculated for whole cigarettes or short lengths for different diagnostic purposes.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1979Date of Patent: February 8, 1983Assignee: Molins LimitedInventors: John G. Dowding, Peter R. Turner, Robert J. Hudson

Patent number: 4350225Abstract: A control logic for an elevator servicing a plurality of floors of a building comprises two microcomputers. The two microcomputers are provided with abnormal state detectors of their own. When the abnormal state detector of one microcomputer is actuated, the elevator is operated for recovery to the nearest floor by the other microcomputer on the condition that the abnormal state detector of the other microcomputer is not actuated, and thereafter retrial for the abnormal microcomputer is effected by an instruction from the other microcomputer. When the abnormal microcomputer recovers to normal state by the retrial, the elevator keeps operating, thereby preventing such a problem that the elevator cannot continue service by erroneous operation due to noise.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1980Date of Patent: September 21, 1982Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Kazuhiro Sakata, Takeo Yuminaka, Masao Nakazato, Kenji Yoneda, Soshiro Kuzunuki, Yasunori Katayama

Patent number: 4335431Abstract: Various arithmetic processings for skid control are performed by using the memory in which the data representing the relationship between the brake releasing period and the slip rate to be controlled and by using a microcomputer having at least one free-running counter. In the arithmetic processing of the wheel speed, the contents of the free-running counter are successively stored in the memory in response to interrupt processing signals synchronized with the wheel speed pulses and the wheel speed is calculated from the difference between the contents of the counters written in the memory. Similarly, the measurement of the brake releasing period is also performed by calculating the difference between the written count values. The suitable slip rate is taken out of the memory on the basis of the measured brake releasing period.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1980Date of Patent: June 15, 1982Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventor: Junichi Takahashi
