Abstract: There is provided a photodetector wherein charging current to a photodiode is integrated to determine an amount of discharge due to conduction of photoelectric current through the photodiode and thereby to measure intensity of photon flux incident to the photodiode, so that linearity of light input intensity versus output voltage characteristics can be improved and dynamic range of the measurement can be extended.
Abstract: A feeding system for a linear motor transportation system in which a number of discrete drive coil units or linear motor units are arranged along a track to generate a moving magnetic field for driving trains is disclosed. In the present feeding system, a number of feeding sections extend contiguously along the track and each of the feeding sections includes at least one power supply station. Each feeding section is divided into at least two linear motor blocks each having a feeder block. The linear motor units in each of the linear motor blocks are connected through associated ones of a first group of switches to the associated feeder means which are connected to the power converter of the associated feeding section through associated ones of a second group of switches. Preferably, those adjacent two feeder blocks which belong to adjacent different feeding sections respectively are coupled together through an associated one of a third group of switches.
Abstract: A recording member having a predetermined substrate, and a thin film which is formed on the substrate and which is formed with recesses or pits for recording information when irradiated with a working beam, characterized in that said thin film is formed of an inorganic material which contains at least arsenic, selenium and tellurium, and that a distribution of either of said Se and said Te decreases from a part near the surface of said thin film towards a central part thereof, while a distribution of said As increases from a part near the surface towards said central part, is disclosed. This recording member can afford a high signal-to-noise ratio and a long lifetime.
Abstract: A method and a system for engine control are disclosed. Electrical signals representing the engine operating conditions are detected, which electrical signals, together with the control data stored in a memory, are used to calculate a correction factor for correcting the control data for controlling the engine, where the correction factor is stored in a volatile memory, thus controlling the engine on the basis of the control data corrected by the correction factor. The correction factor stored in RAM is transferred to a non-volatile memory under predetermined conditions. Even if the voltage applied to RAM is reduced to a level lower than the storage ability of RAM, resulting in the loss of the stored data, the correction factor stored in EAROM is transferred back to RAM upon restoration of a normal voltage at RAM.
Abstract: An electronic device having an indicator element and a plurality of other electronic parts for electrically driving the indicator element compactly assembled one another, which includes, as fundamental structure, lead conductors for electrically connecting the indicator element and the electronic parts to one another, and resin member completely embedding the lead conductors except the electrical contact portions between each electronic part and the lead conductors and having sections for receiving the electronic parts. This invention may be applied to the module for an electronic wrist watch using the LCD indicator element to thereby enable easy and compact assembly of the indicator element and the other electronic parts into the module.
Abstract: A prechamber for an air-compressing injection internal combustion engine which includes an enlarged space portion in communication with the cylinder space by way of a channel-shaped space portion; fuel is injected into the enlarged space portion essentially in the direction of the channel-shaped space portion while a baffle member is provided in the enlarged space portion which has a surface curved in the direction toward the fuel jet; the bottom side of the baffle member or of the insert pin thereof is constructed at least within the area of the baffle member as guide surface for the in-flowing combustion air flowing into the enlarged space portion of the prechamber.
Abstract: A thrust bearing or tapered-land thrust bearing including a plurality of lubricant feeding nozzle holes. At least one of the nozzle holes is disposed in close proximity to the leading edge of a tapered surface of a bearing surface of the thrust bearing. By this arrangement, hot oil carryover can be minimized and the temperatures of a film of lubricant formed between the bearing surface and a thrust collar positioned there-against and a bearing body of the thrust bearing can be reduced. Thus the thrust bearing can withstand uses under high speed and high load conditions.
Abstract: A phase of a composite color television signal is adjusted by utilizing a signal which is one-field after or before relative to a current signal and which is a signal of the nearest scanning line. A difference signal between the color television signal and a signal derived from a one-field memory is applied to a band-pass filter and an output signal of the band-pass filter is added to the color television signal so that the phase of the carrier chrominance signal is adjusted by 180 degrees. The phase adjuster according to the present invention is applicable to video signal processing systems such as a noise reducer and a differential PCM coder.
Abstract: A multi-frequency signal receiver, in which the digital input signals having the sampling frequency of 8 KHz or a multiple thereof are resampled at a sampling frequency of 4 KHz by means of a resampling circuit and in which the signals thus resampled are subjected to the band selection by means of a digital filter so that the frequency of the input signals may be identified.

Abstract: Metallic images of uniform quality can be formed on substrates having through-holes by a process using a positive type resist characterized by using as a coating solution for the substrate a solution of a photosensitive material of (a) at least one organic compound having at least one linkage of --M--M--M ).sub.n (M=Si, Ge or Sn; n=0, 1 or more) in the molecule or (b) a mixture of at least one organic compound (a) mentioned above and at least one photosensitizer, dissolved in a solvent such as a halogenated hydrocarbon, an aromatic hydrocarbon, a heterocyclic compound, or a mixture thereof, followed by irradiation with an actinic light through a photomask and electroless plating.
Abstract: Sub-loop controllers arranged around a microprocessor are assigned to operation terminals to be controlled, and connected to a master controller and a host computer through a system bus to be supplied with a control command therefrom. Analog memories for manual control of the operation terminals are connected to the host computer through a special, common wiring. If one of the sub-loop controllers breaks down, the host computer directly controls the operation terminal by use of this analog memory thereby to back up the sub-loop controller.
Abstract: A rotary cylinder apparatus comprises a rotary drum mounted thereon with a magnetic head, a brushless motor for driving the rotary drum, a stationary drum housing the brushless motor and which is disposed opposing the rotary drum, and a revolution-rate detector for detecting the number of revolutions of the rotary drum. The brushless motor comprises a permanent magnet rotor connected to the rotary drum, a driving coil mounted on the stationary drum, and a position detector for detecting the position of the permanent magnet rotor in order to control current to be supplied to the driving coil. The detecting coil of the revolution-rate detector and the brushless motor are housed in the stationary drum and wiring of the driving coil and revolution-rate detecting coil is performed on a common wiring board. Thus, the driving section of the rotary cylinder apparatus is small-sized and made light in weight, and the number of processes of assembling the rotary cylinder apparatus can be decreased.
Abstract: An electrode of a vacuum circuit breaker, having a high dielectric strength, large breaking current and superior non-welding characteristic. The electrode is made of a cast alloy comprising copper, 20 wt% or less of rare earth metal such as lanthanum, cerium or an alloy of either one of these rare earth metal with another rare earth metal, 10 wt% or less of a metal such as lead and bismuth having a lower melting point and a higher vapor pressure than copper, and 0.1 to 30 wt% of a metal of iron group. A part of the rare earth metal and a part of the metal having the lower melting point and higher vapor pressure than copper are crystallized in the grain boundary and in the grains of copper.
Abstract: A Doppler radar speed sensor including an antenna section and a sensor section is mounted on the underside of the automobile undercarriage. A recess for accommodating the Doppler radar speed sensor is formed in part of the underside of the automobile undercarriage within a rectangle surrounded by the wheels, and the Doppler radar speed sensor is mounted fully within the recess. This structure prevents the sensor from being damaged in an unfavorable environment or external vehicle devices from being interfered with by the leakage of the unrequired radar wave. For size reduction, the Doppler radar speed sensor is provided with a metal casing integrated with a slotted waveguide antenna. The slot array of the antenna is formed in one side of the metal casing, so that the metal casing, makes up part of the slot array antenna.
Abstract: A burglarproofing device for vehicles is provided wherein a key contains two partial codes. Device on the vehicle compares at least one of the two partial codes with a stored code. Coincidence of the codes will unlock a central locking device. A partial code may be changed by the authorized owner, although the vehicle is locked.
Abstract: A bi-modal mechanically trackable vehicle adapted to be rail driven with or without a guide track, the vehicle including at least one non-steerable axle having non-steerable wheels mounted thereon, a plurality of tracking transverse guide rollers are provided for guiding the vehicle along the track. The transverse guide rollers are at least indirectly mounted at the non-steerable axle in an area of the respective wheels so as to be transversely displaceable. The non-steerable axle is mounted on the vehicle so as to be freely pivotable about a vertical axis. An arrangement is provided for automatically selectively locking the at least one non-steerable axle in an exact transverse position for driving without a guide track and for unlocking the at least one non-steerable axle from the exact transverse position.
Abstract: A carburetor equipped with an auto-choke device is disclosed wherein according to one embodiment a leak valve is disposed in a negative pressure chamber of a diaphragm device adapted to operate by a negative pressure in a suction passage downstream of a throttle valve so as to open a choke valve in said suction passage to a predetermined degree of opening (complete explosion opening) after an engine has rotated by itself, and when the diaphragm has executed a predetermined shift, the leak valve is opened, and simultaneously, the downstream of the leak valve is brought into the atmospheric pressure for engine temperatures below a set value and into the same negative pressure as that of the negative pressure chamber for engine temperatures at and above the set value, whereby the operating stroke of the diaphragm is changed-over in two stages in dependence upon the water temperature or oil temperature, and the complete explosion opening of the choke valve is changed-over in two stages so that it may become narro
Abstract: Voice and alarm signalling capability between supervisory personnel at monitor and control sites located at separated transceiver facilities of a (repeatered) multichannel communication network is provided by a multichannel multiplexed encode/decode scheme in which voice and/or alarm signals generated at one station are digitally encoded and formatted so as to be inserted into the data stream of the normally conveyed data traffic over the active channels of the network. At the receiving terminal site, these inserted signals are removed from the high data rate digital data stream and delivered to decoding equipment which reconstructs the original voice and/or alarm signals for delivery to the audio equipment of station operation personnel. The encoded signals are inserted as overhead bits for each active channel, so that a fault on one channel will not prevent the completion of trasmission of the intended communication between terminal site personnel.
Abstract: A carburetion arrangement and method of carburetion for a multicylinder internal combustion engine wherein at least one carburetor acts as a main mixture forming device with the main mixture being guided through individual intake lines which connect the carburetor to intake valves of the engine. Further mixture components are guided through separate air and fuel lines which terminate in the individual intake lines with the separate air and fuel lines being combined immediately before the intake lines. The intake air is supplied to the further mixture components primarily through the individual intake lines with a volume controlled portion of the intake air of this mixture component, reduceable to zero, being guided through the separate air lines, as correction air for the fuel to the mixture components flowing through the separate fuel lines. The correction air flowing through all the lines is controlled volumewise by a common control device which is disposed upstream of an air distributor for the air lines.
