  • Patent number: 4334125
Abstract: In a stereo demodulator circuit, there is provided a phase-locked loop in which a comparison signal is produced by frequency-dividing an oscillation signal of an oscillator, and the phase of the comparison signal is compared with the phase of the pilot signal to phase-lock the phase of the oscillation signal and the phase of the pilot signal. The output signal of the oscillator is frequency-divided to produce a first switching signal. The first switching signal and a composite signal are supplied to a first decoder at which left and right channel signals are separated. The output of the oscillator is also frequency-divided to produce a second switching signal having a frequency which is three times the sub-carrier frequency. The composite signal and the second switching signal are supplied to a second decoder at which the left and right channel signals are separated.

  • Patent number: 4334141
Abstract: A combined water heating and vessel support plate for supporting the vessel of a beverage preparation device includes a heating slab having a water flow-through duct constituted by longitudinal apertures in a plurality of prismatic (preferably rectangular) heating-plate segments which are clamped together side-by-side with PTC ceramic electrical resistance heating elements interposed between them. The duct is completed by connecting the apertures externally by tubes or by duct-incorporating end caps on the heating plate to form a continuous flow path from an inlet to an outlet. Various clamping arrangements, preferably with some resilience, are described, as are the use of inter-segment filling materials and electrically insulating materials with good heat-conducting properties, also the selection and positioning of the heating elements to achieve a desired heating effect. The top surfaces of the segments are coplanar and form a flat vessel support surface for heating a vessel placed thereon.

  • Patent number: 4333797
Abstract: A control apparatus for a boiling water reactor includes a monitoring section for monitoring power distribution in the reactor, a core flow control section for controlling the core flow and an arithmetic operational section for calculating change rate of the linear heat generation rate from the output of the monitoring section to thereby cause the core flow to be increased or decreased through the core flow control section when the calculated change rate exceeds a predetermined limit, whereby the increasing rate of the linear heat generation rate of fuel rods is maintained at a value not greater than the limit value. The power distribution monitoring section serves to generalize the current power distribution in the whole core in trms of typical monitoring quantities at selected locations of in-core neutron detectors.

  • Patent number: 4331280
Abstract: A method for jointing two pipes such as an aluminum pipe and a copper pipe by friction welding. The aluminum pipe is inserted into a bore of a ring made of a heat resistant material, the bore having a straight section and a tapered section continuous from the straight section. The copper pipe has a tapered end peripheral surface. The copper pipe is pressed at its tapered end, in a rotating state, against the end of the aluminum pipe so as to expand the latter. As a result, an ironing is effected on the aluminum pipe by the straight section of the bore of the ring, such that the aluminum pipe overlies the straight section of the copper pipe in close contact with the latter. Consequently, the tapered surface of the copper pipe is friction welded to corresponding portion of the aluminum pipe while the latter is being backed up by the tapered section of the bore of the ring.
