    Abstract: A conveyor system for cigarettes and other rod-like articles includes a reservoir consisting of a conveyor which is preferably laterally flexible and moves along a helical path so that a long thin stack of articles can be taken into the reservoir and can be delivered from the reservoir when necessary. The conveyor may consist of a plastic surface member which has a flexible zig-zag shape and is driven by a chain. The conveyor system may be overhead and may receive the articles from an elevator consisting of two parallel bands moving upwards along a sinuous path so as to grip the articles between them.

    Abstract: A string for the stringing of rackets, bows, musical instruments and the like which has a thread-like structure of polyvinylidene fluoride. The string is obtained by extruding a rod of polyvinylidene fluoride at a melt temperature of the polyvinylidene fluoride, cooling the rod at a temperature between 60.degree.-150.degree. C., and then axially stretching the rod at this temperature following by cooling the rod to room temperature and thereafter cold-stretching the monofil. The string is characterized by an elasticity that approaches that of natural gut string.

    Abstract: In a nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, this invention relates to an improvement of a lock system for stabilizing a magnetic field intensity. It is an object of the present invention to dissolve a low stability by using a conventional voltage control oscillator and a complex operation in the case of varying a reference material for locking. In the present invention, a radio frequency of a high stable reference frequency source is demultiplied by a variable frequency divider so that a frequency modulation or a modulation of the magnetic field is effected by the output thus demultiplied. When the reference material is changed, the operation can easily be made by varying the demultiplication ratio of the variable frequency divider.

    Abstract: Part of high-pressure air is extracted from the vicinity of the final stage of a compressor and is introduced into a water spraying chamber, and water at the normal temperature is injected into the high-pressure air from a nozzle installed in the water spraying chamber, to prepare a cooled coolant. The coolant sometimes contains water drops. The cooled coolant is fed into coolant passageways which are provided inside a moving blade in a manner to extend from the root part to the tip of the moving blade. When the coolant passes through the passageways, the moving blade is cooled by the coolant, and after the cooling, the coolant is emitted into a turbine main gas passageway. In case where the water drops are contained in the coolant, they vaporize during the cooling of the moving blade, to cool the air of the coolant, to suppress the temperature rise of the coolant and to enhance the cooling effect.

    Abstract: Novel method and system for controlling input/output in a process control wherein state signals of object processes to be controlled are applied to a CPU via a process input/output unit and operated in the CPU in accordance with a logic programmed and stored in advance, and results of the operation are delivered out to the object processes to control the same. A buffer memory is interposed between the CPU and the process input/output unit. While reception and delivery of data are performed between the CPU or processor unit and the buffer memory, fetching of the state signals of the object processes or delivery of the process controlling signals is performed between the buffer memory and the object processes, thereby attaining a high rate processing as viewed from the overall processing of the system.

    Abstract: In a video tape recorder or audio tape recorder, the remaining tape length indicated as time or taken-up tape length indicated as time is calculated by use of microcomputer and then accurately indicated as a time length by detecting the angular velocities of a supply reel and a take-up reel. A rotational period of time of each reel is detected twice, so that the tape running speed is calculated from the two detected values and the known tape caliper thickness, thus calculating and indicating the remaining tape length indicated as time and the taken-up tape length indicated as time. The remaining tape length and taken-up tape length indicated as time in such operation modes of a tape recorder as fast forward, and rewind, as well as recording and reproduction are accurately indicated.

    Abstract: A sine wave of a frequency to be generated in an inverter is compared with a triangular wave having a frequency N times (N: 15, 9, 3, 1) the frequency of the sine wave, so that a modulated pulse train is generated thereby to control the inverter. This inverter supplies power to an induction motor. With the increase in motor speed, N is reduced until it finally becomes 1. When the inverter transfers from an idle state to an active state, N is inhibited from becoming 1 but set to 3 even if the motor is running at high speed.

    Abstract: A mobile reservoir system for rod-like articles such as cigarettes in which trays are moved in trolleys and each tray is capable of receiving articles in stack formation from an overhead mass flow outlet at a combined loading/unloading station. The mass flow outlet is closable by a rolling gate closure device. Each tray has parallel compartments for simultaneously receiving batches from streams passing from a producing machine and contains captive platforms movable by drive means at the loading/unloading station to progressively lower the articles into each compartment. Articles may be returned through the mass flow outlet by reversal of the drive means and upward movement of the platform; side bands may engage the articles through slots in the trays to aid this upward movement.

In this operation method, the development unit is raced until the amount of charge on the toner in the developer reaches a predetermined level, and thereafter a usual electrophotographic copying procedure commences, whereby reduction in density of developed images during the initial operation of the electrophotographic copying apparatus can be prevented and developed images of high quality can be obtained.
