  • Patent number: 6507273
Abstract: A networked-based remotely-controlled power switch device is proposed, which can be coupled to an electricity-powered system, such as a personal computer (PC), a TV, or a video recorder, to allow the electricity-powered system to be powered ON or OFF through remote control by a remote computer system via a network system, such as Internet, Ethernet, or PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network). This power switch device allows a user without an Internet account to be nevertheless able to use a remote PC system for remote ON/OFF control of the electricity-powered system. Further, in addition to instant ON/OFF control, this power device also allows the user to perform scheduled ON/OFF control to the electricity-powered system so that the electricity-powered system can be automatically powered ON or OFF at a specified time.

  • Patent number: 6483205
Abstract: An improved circuit and device uses a set of eight switches, four of which are connected to the positive terminal, and four of which are connected to the negative terminal of a high voltage direct current power supply. The eight switches are attached in a distributed and overlapping manner to the inputs of up to six welding transformers. Pulse width modulation is utilized to distributively control power to the six welding transformers utilizing distributed control by a single controller. Phasing of the pulse width modulated power signal enables further optimization of the distributed control and is accomplished by a single controller and based upon feedback demand from the transformers utilizing typical measured parameters.

  • Patent number: 6474846
Abstract: A flush lighting system includes a support ring for attachment, typically to the underside surface, of a lighting fixture containment space, and a finishing ring which can lockably engage the support ring, either directly using threaded members, or by the use of raised dimples on the support ring which interfits with a groove on the finishing ring. The finishing ring preferably contains apertures and radius grooves for accommodating plaster or dry wall compound. A raised abbreviated radial width inner surface transition lies at the inner most portion of the face of the finishing ring. Inside the raised transition and extending axially is an engagement structure for mating with the support ring, through either a groove or apertures for threaded attachment against a radially outwardly existing axial surface of the support ring.

  • Patent number: 6450235
Abstract: The structures and process for producing the structures as shown will enable extensive and efficient use of block scrap for slat manufacturing. The techniques employed advantageously accomplish two goals simultaneously, enabling scrap, such as block scrap, to be formed into longer effective lengths. Such longer effective lengths can then be cutably formed into slats of various sizes. The joinder of the block scrap is by deeply extending, finite interlock length finger joints which, once the material is cutably formed into slats, remain as relatively shallow (the thickness of the slat) and finite interlock length finger joints. The joints have the added benefit that they statistically “break up” any grain differences which would otherwise create warp, and enable long lengths of slat to be employed from several shorter lengths of scrap. Lengths of scrap may be laterally joined before processing and as such the process and product can further salvage scrap wood narrower than the slat being produced.

  • Patent number: 6431373
Abstract: An integrated support for tools utilizes both round and rectangularly shaped “U” socket tool support members that can be slidably mounted on a metal strip, and displaceable supports that can be mounted on a solidly shaped strip to provide an extended support with which the strip may be supported and stabilized. The extended support may be extruded, cut, or formed in any manner. It provides a body to which the strip may be attached, provides side surfaces that include recessed surfaces to facilitate grasping, and may optionally provide an extended area magnetic base, which works well with metal tool boxes to provide a measure of stability beyond its own weight. The support may actively provide accommodative support to a plurality of strips.

  • Patent number: 6402711
Abstract: A brace hinge includes an upper and lower intermeshing gear members each having an elliptical gear intermeshed with the other and sandwiched by two very thin profile cover and support plates. The elliptical gears produce an eccentric motion which lends it self to following the natural motion of the human knee or other joints such as the elbow. The elliptical gear of one member has its radius extend toward the pivot axis of the other gear as the radius of the other elliptical gear retreats from the pivot axis of the one member. The magnitude and radial extent over which the ellipse extends can be varied. The combination of advancing and retreating radius gear members, relatively few gear teeth and sandwiched support plates eliminate any interruption to a smooth transition, provide superior load bearing ability and provide for extremely low friction.
