  • Patent number: 5850191
Abstract: A moving vehicle specification system having an auxiliary specification function. If a vehicle could not be specified by a local controller, the license plate number is decoded from a license plate image in a method where a number database is referenced according to grouped information and number information is retrieved. Auxiliary specification of the vehicle is performed through a comparison between the searched result and the decoded result. This prevents any impairment in the real-time performance of the processing based on local controller and permits more accurate vehicle specification.

  • Patent number: 5847780
Abstract: An active matrix-type liquid crystal display is described having, for each pixel, a first electrode for of a storage capacitor that is connected to a scanning signal line. The liquid crystal display can be repaired for disconnections and short inferiorities occurring in a crossing portion of scanning signal line. A redundancy correcting line connects the capacitor electrodes of adjacent pixels. Also described is a double scanning signal line. The embodiments using the redundant connecting line and double scanning signal line are both repairable using laser if imperfections exist. Thus, while maintaining high aperture and contrast ratios, the disconnections and shorts in the crossing portion of wirings can be minimized.

  • Patent number: 5845541
Abstract: A micromanipulator fine control apparatus of the present invention is operated with a mouse. As the mouse is moved to the front, rear, left and right, a control handle is tilted to the front, rear, left and right, respectively, and a fore and aft fine control slider and a first left right fine control slider are moved in the respective directions. Then, a liquid amount of a first liquid-operated cylinder is varied by fore and aft slider movement, and a liquid amount of a second liquid-operated cylinder is varied by the left right slider movement. • Patent number: 5848041
Abstract: An excellent waveform signal with less jitter is obtained as an output signal from a reproducing optical pickup, irrespective of a relative reading speed. Thus there is no need for an equalizing circuit on a reproducing apparatus side. An input bit sequence or a recording NRZI signal is combined with spatial frequency characteristics G(fs) by a G(fs) converter. An output signal from the G(fs) converter is combined with equalizing frequency characteristics EQ(fs) necessary on a reproducing side by an EQ(fs) converter. An output from the EQ(fs) converter is saturation-amplified by a saturation amplifier, thereby producing an ideally pre-jittered recording signal that has equivalent enhanced high-frequency component. The recording signal is recorded on an optical disk.
