  • Patent number: 4441020
Abstract: A method for tracing an object such as an outline of a picture or a line image, wherein the object is sensed by a set of sensing elements arranged in an optical head moving along the object, to detect a position and a direction of the object, wherein the optical head is controlled to trace the object depending on the detected position and the direction of the object, and wherein the object is reproduced by reproduction means which is moved in synchronization with the optical head. Present invention improves this method by moving the optical head along portions of the object, which the sensing elements can discriminate hardly or not at all nor follow the object, according to line segment data which is predetermined and represent a plurality of points of coordinates.

  • Patent number: 4438987
Abstract: In a magnetic bearing system, wherein the gap between relatively moveable elements is controlled by variation of magnetic force therebetween, light is directed from one of the members onto the other member, and reflected back, the reflected light being converted to an electrical signal. The magnetic force between the members is controlled as a direct function of the magnitude of the reflected light. The optical system may include optical fibers for directing the light, and markings may also be provided on the other member to enable determination of relative speed between the members in a further transducing system.

  • Patent number: 4437214
Abstract: In a non-machining method for manufacturing a solid-bottomed or internally flanged bearing race, especially for rolling contact bearings, the starting material is in the form of a band. For the economical manufacture of this bearing race with an annular groove of extremely precise cross-sectional shape which reduces the wall thickness of the bearing race, and which is situated at the transition from the bottom or flange portion to the race portion, a flat roundel is first stamped from the band. Then a concentric annular groove is worked into one of the planar surfaces of the roundel, while the opposite planar surface thereof is supported on a planar supporting surface. Lastly, the roundel is deep-drawn in a die to form a bearing race having a solid bottom. The end face of the drawing punch concentrically engages the roundel's planar surface that is encompassed by the annular groove.

  • Patent number: 4424497
Abstract: In a system having a frequency encoded data stream and a source of clock signals phase locked to the data stream, for subsequent demodulation of the data stream, the clock source is at a frequency that is a multiple of the nominal frequency for demodulating, and a counter is employed to divide the clock. The counter is controlled by the output of a phase comparator, to control the addition to and inhibiting of counting of the counter. The control circuit controls the counter in a non-linear relationship with respect to the phase error, and has a memory function for storing previous states of the counter, to permit repetitive correction for small errors in the same manner. The phase comparator and control are preferably a programmed logic array.
