Abstract: An intermittent flames, heated bed type furnace and a method for heating steel plate. The furnace and method for heating solve problems inherent in conventional furnaces, namely, consuming too much energy, having low efficiency, and providing a heat which is unstable and non-uniform in quality. The invention includes a modified furnace with a special heated bed, the furnace having a wide or square body to replace the conventional rectangular type of furnace, thus enlarging its loading volume. To improve product quality, a combined or continuous operational heating sequence is substituted for the conventional intermittent or batch heating mode, thus raising labor productivity. The overall effectiveness obtained by this invention has increased from 1 to 3 times the productivity of a conventional intermittent flame furnace, while decreasing energy consumption by 30 to 70 percent. Deflection of the size of the steel plate or end is only a fraction of that specified in conventional standards.
Abstract: The mechanical device used for carrying out the procedure consists of a reel (B), upon which is wound a conveyor sheet. Before the sheet is wound onto the said reel, the retroreflecting elements (A) are attached to it, maintaining a certain preestablished spacing between the elements. When the sheet is made to unwind from the reel (B) and passed over the sharp-edged body (C), the retroreflecting elements (A) are mechanically detached from the sheet and deposit themselves onto the road surface (S), maintaining the same preestablished spacing between them. The sheet, from which the retroreflecting elements have been detached, is then rewound onto the rewind reel (E).The surface of the said sheet (B) can either be coated with an adhesive (sticky) substance, while the surfaces of the retroreflecting elements (A) are treated with a detaching polymer, or the sheet surface can be treated with the detaching polymer, with the surfaces of the retroreflecting elements coated with the adhesive (sticky) substance.
Abstract: A device for determining swing speed of rotatable implements, for example human activated sporting goods such as a bat, a tennis racquet, etc. The device comprises a mounting base, a magnetically attractable arcuately movable member in the form of a metal plate, a stopper, the movable member upon activation coming into contact with the stopper to produce a hitting sound, a support member detachably supporting the movable member, and a rotatable disk magnet likewise supported by the support member, the movable member being rotatably movable through a rotational arcuate width between the stopper and the support member. The device further comprises a counter which may be contacted by the movable member to detect numerical frequency of rotations of the movable member.
Abstract: A portable device for removing and collecting dust, particularly from vehicle friction brake and clutch assemblies, comprises a base having a high efficiency filter and vacuum assembly, a transparent evacuation hood designed to surround the brake or clutch, a vacuum hose for removing contaminated air from the hood to the base, and adjustable means for disposing the hood at variable heights above the base. The filter and vacuum assembly, which may serve as a stand alone unit having application outside the automotive field, is oriented such that a disposable filter is located in a compartment upstream of the vacuum motors and may be removed from the base while the vacuum motors are running, thereby preventing dispersal of hazardous materials during the filter changing operation. Apertures provided in the hood include two gloved portals for allowing a worker's hands and arms to have unimpeded access to the brake and clutch assemblies. A highly portable embodiment includes an inflatable hood.
Abstract: A metal base lithographic printing plate cleaned and treated by RF plasma to render the non-exposed area hydrophilic, then coated with either a negative working or positive working photosensitive coating. The method is characterized by its elimination of the conventional alkaline etch with attendant hazard, pollution and toxicity problems.
Abstract: A lettering device having a writing arm (4) that is movable between a position of repose and a writing position and that receives a stylus that has a Bowden control (29) for moving the writing arm (4) between the position of repose and the writing position. The Bowden control is guided via an actuating lever (42) that is pivotably secured to a guide bearing (8), so that it is guided over two application zones (43, 44) displaced on opposite sides of the pivot axis (41) of the actuating lever (42) and spaced apart from one another. By tensing the Bowden cable control (21), one section (42') of the pivoting actuating lever (42) lifts the writing arm (41).
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for producing a shipping form characterized by a folding mechanism, a cutting off mechanism, an aligning and feeding mechanism, a form inserting mechanism and a cutting mechanism.
Abstract: A writing instrument includes a writing fluid reservoir in the form of a fiber body, in which there is a coaxially extending writing fluid conductor with capillary conduits. The fibers of the reservoir extend at right angles to and radially with respect to the longitudinal axis of the conductor and communicate with it in a fluid-conducting manner.
Abstract: An improved tubular writing pen having a writing pen body (3) and a forepart (1) joined to it that holds in a forward direction a writing tube (5). The forepart (1) is revolvable, yet is installed axially non-dislocatably in the pen body (3) and in the latter is braced against dislocatability in a rearward direction by a support surface (14). A writing fluid conductor extends into the writing tube (5). A coupler element (7) is fastened to the writing conductor and stands in contact with a bearing surface of an adjuster element (4) when raised from the drawing surface, and which is screwed into the forepart (1) and held non-rotatable with respect to the forepart.
Abstract: Improvements in stylographic technical writing pens, particularly through a venting channel design which provides for a pressure balancing, or equalization, between an ultimate ink reservoir pressure and the total pressure at the writing tip; as writing depletes ink within the reservoir. Particularly, a venting channel, extending from the reservoir to ambient air, has the size of its cross-sectional shape vary as a function of the distance from its communication with the reservoir, with the variation calculated to offset gravitational forces attendant to a moving ink meniscus inside the vent channel. The balancing of total pressures also provides a constant ink flow through the writing tip when writing since the total pressure at the tip is maintained constant by the vent channel configuration.

Abstract: In a writing instrument with a pressure mechanism for the movement of a writing element (4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13) against spring pressure from a retracted position of rest into an advanced writing position, in which retention by means of a retention element (18, 19, 20) takes place, the retention element (18, 19, 20) has a cup section (18) open towards the rear. In this cup section is a ball (23) of magnetizable material which is axially freely movable back and forth in the cup section. Adjacent to the opening of the cup section (18) is a permanent magnet (16), the front face of which forms a concave contact surface (17), disposed coaxially to the writing element (4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13) for the placement of the ball (23).

Abstract: Hydrophilic coating of plastics, particularly an enhanced aqueous solution of a polysaccharide which flows uniformly over the surface of an anchor film applied to the plastic. The aqueous solution of a polysaccharide from the group consisting of hyaluronic acid and its salts, chondroitin sulfate and agarose is enhanced by the addition of albumin to provide uniform wetting over the anchor film on the plastic.
Abstract: This invention concerns a process for making a roadway marking strip adhere to a roadway surface without the need for any preliminary preparation, using a flame that simultaneously contacts the self-adhesive primer coating of the roadway strip and the roadway surface itself. This invention also concerns a process for covering the adhesive primer layer on the roadway strip with a thin sealing layer, and thus-formed roadway strip.
Abstract: Removable partition systems of the type embodying top and bottom tracks enclosing a plurality of channel shaped vertical studs and vertical wall panels secured to the studs by means of hooks extending from the inner surface of the panel to engage notches defined in the studs. The improvement consists in a hook strip secured to the inner face of the wall panel and including a hardened planar surface and a downwardly extending hook. The hook includes inclined top and bottom edges, a horizontal bight and an inwardly protruding camming surface. The horizontal bight rests upon the bottom of the notch, while the camming surface tension fits the inner surface of the stud so as to securely mount the wall panel with respect to the stud.
