  • Patent number: 8076924
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and system for remote detection of a targeted substance by the appropriate application of a probing signal that induces molecular resonance in the target substance to create an identifiable signature or response. In the preferred embodiment, signals transmitted are an Infrared laser beam, amplitude modulated in the range of 100 kHz frequency. The probing signal stimulates molecular resonance of the target substance which produces characteristic electron signal responses that are detected by IR detectors. A software program is used to process the electrical response signals and to compare them with electrical response signals stored in a database of known substances, thus allowing the target substance to be identified. The system may also be used to locate targeted substances. Also disclosed is an artificial ground device that provides a positive ground that provides consistent responses.

  • Patent number: 8072107
Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to a permanent magnet, brushless motor comprising a primary rotor having alternating magnetic poles around a circumference, a secondary rotor similar to the primary rotor. The primary rotor may be free to rotate by approximately plus or minus one pole of the secondary rotor. As such, when the two rotor components have opposite polarities aligned, the motor may be in a field weakened state. Generally, the field weakened state may be the normal state of the motor. As a significant load is encountered, the rotors may automatically transition to a non-weakened state wherein similar polarities are aligned on the rotors. A permanent magnet, brushless motor as described herein may be employed at a motor level or integrated into a linear actuator, wherein the rotor of the permanent magnet, brushless motor may include a hollow shaft.

  • Patent number: 8066377
Abstract: A system and method for improving stereoscopic images produced by a projecting device containing a single chip DMD, seen through an eye-switching device, such as a pair of liquid crystal (LC) shutter glasses. The system and method are used with a video projector designed to be used with a multiple-color, color switching device, such as a color wheel. The color wheel includes at least three critical color segments. The color wheel may also physically include or be electronically re-defined to include at least one non-critical segment. A color sequencing firmware resident in the video projector is used to align a non-critical segment in front of the projector's main light source during the eye-switching device's unstable transition phase. If the non-critical segment is transmissive, the firmware controls the DMD so that light is discontinued. If the non-critical segment is non-transmissive, the light is physically blocked.

  • Patent number: 8056830
Abstract: A shower head designed to produce a consistent, wide diameter spray of water under both high and low water pressure conditions. The shower head includes a spinner tube mounted inside a cylindrical-shaped nozzle body. The upper segment of the spinner tube is held in a central location inside the nozzle body by a fixed cassette assembly. The middle and lower segments of the spinner tube extend below the cassette assembly and are bent outward and axially offset from the upper segment and from each other so that the spinner tube is able to spin freely inside the nozzle body. Mounted inside and over the upper end opening of the nozzle tube is an adapter with a longitudinally aligned threaded cavity formed on one end. The adapter includes a water orifice that delivers water from the shower head fixture tube to to the spinner tube. Disposed between the adapter and the upper end of the spinner tube is a flat washer with a narrow water orifice that delivers a narrow, high velocity stream of water to the spinner tube.

  • Patent number: 8006366
Abstract: This invention pertains to a method for preparing simulated bamboo from metal tubing that includes the following steps: (1) preparing a plurality of short segments of metal tubing; (2) creating a tapered wide opening on one end of each segment of metal tubing; (3) cutting an acute angle on the tapered wide opening; (4) longitudinally aligning two segments together by inserting the straight end of one segment into the tapered end of the second segment; (5) applying a flux to the joint of said segments; (6) joining the two short segments together; and, (7) grinding the outer surface of the joint to create a smooth surface. When the metal tubing is made of copper, or steel with copper-based metallic paint applied thereto, an oxidizing agent may be applied to the joint and the outer surfaces of the two short segments to product a circular black line around the joint and a green, brown color surface that simulates bamboo. When the metal tubing is made of steel, the segments are welded together.

  • Patent number: 7969035
Abstract: An apparatus for generating electricity from a relatively low velocity exhaust produced by a piece of machinery. The apparatus includes a fan assembly located inside a frame mounted adjacent to the exhaust vent found on the piece of machinery. The fan assembly includes a plurality of fixed vanes that extend transversely into the exhaust gas. The ends of the vanes are attached to two side plates that rotate freely around the frame's center axis. Attached to the inside side plate is an outer housing with two magnetic plates mounted therein. The two magnetic plates are spaced apart thereby forming a gap in which a stator disc with a plurality of coil members is formed. The stator disc is fixed to an axle that is longitudinally aligned with the center axis of the outer housing and the fan assembly. During operation, the exhaust gas causes the fan assembly and the outer housing to rotate.

  • Patent number: 7959125
Abstract: A footing cleat used to construct a concrete footing with integrally attached concrete wall located thereon. In the first embodiment, the cleat includes an elongated footing member with two downward brackets attached to its opposite ends. During use, the footing member is aligned transversely over the top edge surfaces of two sideboards used to construct the footing's concrete form. The brackets extend downward over the outside surface of the two sideboards. Extending upward from the footing member is a vertical wall support member. Formed on the wall support member is a plurality of holes used to receive nails or pins that hold pieces of horizontally aligned rebar used in a vertical wall constructed over the footing. The nails or pins are designed to temporally hold the pieces of horizontal rebar in place until the entire rebar wall is constructed. They can then be easily removed so that the cleat can be disassembled from the footing.

  • Patent number: 7918116
Abstract: A deadbolt knob restrictor used to prevent the rotation of the inside knob on the deadbolt lock. The restrictor includes a ring member designed to fit between the cover plate located on the inside surface of the door. Attached to the ring member are two perpendicularly aligned support arms with a pin-style hinge formed on their distal ends. Attached to the hinge is an L-shaped latch. Formed on the latch is a cam surface which presses against a spring loaded piston disposed between the cam surface and the support arm. The latch includes a long leg that may be disposed transversely over the ring member, and a short leg that may be placed adjacent to the wide surface of the deadbolt lock's turn knob to prevent its rotation. During assembly, the ring member is placed under the locks inside cover plate. During use the piston forcibly holds the latch in a locked or unlocked position against the turn knob.
