Abstract: An anti-theft and file security system for a portable electronic device that uses a wireless transceiver coupled to the electronic device, which detects an identifying RF signal produced by a wireless access point. In the preferred embodiment, the access point is connected to a local or wide area network within a geographical area in which the portable electronic device is operated. During use, the RF signal from the access point is detected by a wireless transceiver. Loaded into the memory of the electronic device is a software program that determines if the RF signal is produced by a recognized access point. If the RF signal produced by the access point is recognized, then the electronic device continues to operate and allows full access to secured files loaded thereon. If no RF signal is detected or if the detected RF signal is from a non-recognizable access point, then operation of the electronic device is terminated and/or access to the secured file is blocked.
Abstract: An electric diagnostic tape measure used to measure the electrical conduction of a peripheral nerve using a standard electrical nerve stimulator. The tape measure includes a flexible, elongated body with an active recording electrode mounted or attached to its distal end. Formed on the lower surface of the active recording electrode is a conductive, adhesive layer that temporarily holds the electrode on the patient's skin during a test. Located on the top surface of the elongated body is a distance-measuring index. During a test, the elongated body is aligned so that the end of the distance-measuring index is aligned and registered with the active recording electrode. By moving the nerve stimulator to different locations adjacent to the skin adjacent to the elongated body, the distance of the nerve being tested may be measured. In one embodiment, a wire extends through the elongated body.
Abstract: A dishwasher accessory for securing various sizes of stemware in a stable and upright position over a vertical tine on a dishwasher rack. The accessory includes an elongated body that is longitudinally aligned and slides over a tine. Formed on the lower end of the body is a longitudinally aligned slot designed to allow the elongated body to fully extended and rest against the lower end of the tine and the rack's horizontal framework. A perpendicular aligned clamping member attaches to the elongated body and attaches at its opposite end to the central stem on a piece of stemware. The clamping member is designed to grasp and hold the stem on an inverted, vertical aligned piece of stemware placed on the rack. Formed on the proximal end of the clamping member is an octagonal-shaped socket opening designed to receive the upper neck section on the elongated body that is also octagonal in cross-section.
Abstract: A low energy, bright bench worklight that uses two threaded mogul based fluorescent bulbs at each end. The worklight includes an elongated main housing with a downward extending opening formed therein. Located inside the housing and behind each bulb is a concave reflector. Located on each end of the main housing is a light assembly that includes a longitudinally aligned socket and a PCB. Located centrally and extending transversely over the housing is a switch bracket to which a manual switch is attached to selectively control activation of the bulbs. A removable cage attached at the opening of the main housing to protect the bulbs.
Abstract: A health club exercise records system in which members to the health club are given a handheld device that is pre-programmed by the trainer or health club operator to record different exercise activities. The handheld device includes a built-in numeric keypad, a display monitor, and optical reader designed to communicate with a compatible ID tag located on or in the vicinity of the exercise activity data source. Loaded into the working memory of the handheld device is a pre-programmed exercise data collection program. The exercise data collection program displays one or more sub-routines to the member requesting the member to input information regarding the exercise. The sub-routines are specific to the exercise activity data source and present one or more prompts requiring the member to input information. The inputted information is stored in a temporary data file located on the handheld device or transmitted immediately to a permanent member data file on a local server located in the health club.
Abstract: A nerve stimulator measuring device used to measure the length of electrical conduction of a nerve using a standard electrical nerve stimulator. The device includes an outer housing attached or integrally formed on the cathode probe on the standard nerve stimulator. Mounted on the two probes or located inside the outer housing is a retractable, flexible tape measure with length measure units printed thereon. During assembly, the outer housing is positioned over the two probes so that the tape measure disposed therebetween. During use, the end point of the tape is positioned over the recording sensor. The nerve stimulator is then pulled towards the hand so that the tape unwinds to the display the desired distance. The nerve stimulator is then held so that the cathode probe is pressed against the skin over the nerve and adjacent to the desired distance shown on the tape. The nerve stimulator is then activated and a reading is obtained.
Abstract: A dust collector brush assembly capable of being selectively attached to a CNC machine that allows dust and debris to be easily removed from the work site. The brush assembly includes two clam shell half-bodies pivotally connected together along one edge by a main hinge. Each half-body includes a semi-circular upper portion, an upward extending half-tubular exhaust neck portion, and a semi-circular lower portion. When the half-bodies are closed, the two upper half-portions form an enclosed lower cylindrical body designed to loosely capture a mounting plate fixed to the lower surface of the machine's tool head. When the mounting plate is circular, the cylindrical body is able to rotate 360 degrees. When the half-bodies are closed, the two exhaust necks are joined together to form a diagonally aligned exhaust tube. A vacuum hose may then be extended over the upper edge of the exhaust tube to hold the two half-bodies together in a close position on the mounting plate.
Abstract: A light fixture wireless motion detector conversion kit that includes an electrical box cover plate that houses a wireless receiver unit capable of receiving a signal from a wireless motion detector. Formed on the front surface of the plate is a center cavity upon which a standard light fixture bracket is attached. During assembly, the cover plate is securely attached to a vertical support surface while the base of a light fixture is attached to the bracket. The wireless receiver unit is electrically connected between an external 120 volt AC electrical circuit and the light fixture's wires. In the preferred embodiment, the wireless receiver unit includes an optional frequency switch, a mode switch, that allows the user to select different frequencies that matches the frequency used by the motion detector.
Abstract: A mountable electroluminescent welt that is easier to attach to a desired surface or joint. The welt includes an electroluminescent light which includes a center conductor and at least one outer conductor with an electroluminescent chemical dispersed therein that undergo electroluminescence when excited with by a suitable AC current. The welt includes a transparent or semi-transparent sheath casing circular or oval in cross-section with at least one integrally formed, laterally extending wing member. The wing member is a relatively thin structure that extends longitudinally over a portion or the entire length of the outer casing. In the preferred embodiment, the outer edges of the wing member are converged towards their outer edges thereby enabling the wing to be placed into a joint space. A suitable attachment means, such as sewing, an adhesive, or a closed joint, may be used to attach the wing to the desired surface or joint while allowing the outer casing to be exposed.
Abstract: A garment strap assembly used to hold up an individual's pants by attaching one end of the strap assembly to the waist and then holding the opposite end of the strap in an extended position under the wearer's upper garment. The strap assembly includes an elastic strap with an alligator-style clip attached to its proximal end that selectively attaches to the upper edge of the pant's waist. Attached to distal end of the strap is first magnet. During use, the clip is attached to the waist band and the strap extends upward and under the upper garment a sufficient elevation to exert an upward force on the waist band. A decorative button with a second magnet located therein is placed over the outside surface of the upper garment opposite the first magnet. The first and second magnets are magnetically attracted to securely hold the strap in fixed position under the upper garment.
