  • Patent number: 6876792
Abstract: The present invention relates to a precision phase mask for forming diffraction grating in optical fiber and optical waveguide, to provide them with nonlinear chirped grating for dispersion compensation use and having low fluctuation or crosstalk in the group delay characteristics. The diffraction grating is formed by means of interference fringe between diffracted lights of different orders, in which the cycle of the diffraction grating 20 increases nonlinearly, wherein plurality of diffraction gratings G1, G2, G3 . . . having different cycles are assembled on a plane in increasing order of the cycle with the directions of the diffraction gratings directed to the same direction, and assembled in such a manner that, where the cycle of grating changes nonlinearly and discontinuously, the regions having larger rate of change of the cycle contain proportionally more discontinuous phases per unit length.

  • Patent number: 6872089
Abstract: A puncturing type cable coupling apparatus that is implemented either as a plug or a receptacle is disclosed. The basic structure of the cable coupling apparatus includes a shell member and abase member, wherein the base member has a pair of terminal bridges containing claws, corresponding to a pair of backing blocks provided on the shell member, such that an inserted cable will be slightly bent and clamped down between the respective claws and the backing blocks when the base member and the shell member are fitted together. The driving force on the base member allows the claws to puncture the insulation jacket of the cable to force electrical contact with the copper wire inside. The main advantage is that the cable coupling apparatus can be attached on ends of a cable with no need of stripping the insulation jacket before the installation.

  • Patent number: 6866179
Abstract: A welding tab assembly has a weld tab and a metal rod. The weld tab has an inverted L-shaped recess defined in one side of the weld tab and an inclined hole defined in a top face of the recess. The metal rod is inverted L-shaped and is received in the inverted L-shaped recess. An inclined section obliquely extends from one end of the metal rod and is received in the inclined hole in the weld tab. A fastener detachably holds the metal rod in the recess. In such an arrangement, the welding slag can be cleaned or exhausted during the welding process by means of detaching the weld tab from the welded parts, such that the welding quality is improved.

  • Patent number: 6865138
Abstract: A back-up detecting device with a distance reset capability has a controller with an intensity analysis program and a distance reset function. When an ultrasonic transceiver is installed underneath a vehicle chassis forward of the rear end, a distance correction called a distance pad is measured, calculated and stored in memory by the distance reset function. The distance pad is the distance between the ultrasonic detector and the rear end of the vehicle. When the distance reset capability is used to determine a distance pad for each ultrasonic transceiver, the back-up detecting device presents accurate distances to objects without regard to the structure of the vehicle body without having to alter system hardware or software. Thus the back-up detecting device is suitable for large vehicles of varied shapes and sizes.

  • Patent number: 6847670
Abstract: The oscillation pulse width is extended in a gas laser apparatus emitting ultraviolet radiation by a high-repetition rate oscillating operation. The gas laser apparatus has a pair of laser discharge electrodes connected to the output terminals of a magnetic pulse compression circuit and disposed in a laser chamber. The pulse width is extended by determining circuit constants so that the period of the oscillating current flowing between the discharge electrodes is shortened and, at the same time, the peak value of the current is increased, whereby the laser gas is continuously excited even during at least one half-cycle subsequent to the first half-cycle of the oscillating current to sustain the laser oscillating operation.
