  • Patent number: 4906867
Abstract: A buffer circuit particularly suited for driving the output pad of an integrated circuit, characterized in its provision of features which limit the rate of change of current flow in the power supply and ground lines to reduce noise. The circuit features feedback responsive compensation for variations in the capacitive load on the pad. In one form, the circuit includes a feedback capacitor between the pad and the control gate of the output transistor pulling the pad. The control gate of such pulling output driver transistor is, under one operational condition, provided with a voltage which increases at a limited rate during current enablement. The steady-state enablement of the output driver transistor is established later by a circuit logically responsive to the voltage on the output pad. The output driver transistor is subject to rapid disablement in response to a pulling of the control gate by a high speed and drive capacity transistor.

  • Patent number: 4864488
Abstract: A power supply for producing a single level D.C. output voltage in response to a 110 or 220 A.C. input voltage is disclosed. The power supply automatically selects a full wave diode bridge or voltage doubler configuration and provides series capacitors to filter the D.C. output voltage. The selection is controlled by a switch which responds to the charge on one of the output capacitors. Latching means are also provided to prevent the power supply from switching to the voltage doubler configuration once 220 volts is applied.

  • Patent number: 4852357
Abstract: A pump and method for delivering a cooling fluid from a reservoir of fluid to a destination is disclosed. The pump comprises a vessel for holding fluid to be delivered, the vessel being submersible within the reservoir. The vessel has a fluid inlet near its bottom for receiving fluid from the reservoir and a gas discharge outlet near its top. The pump has an inlet valve for preventing fluid from flowing out of the vessel through the fluid inlet, and a gas discharge valve for opening and closing the gas discharge outlet. The discharge valve is responsive to the level of fluid within the vessel. The pump also comprises a conduit for conducting fluid from inside the vessel to its destination, and heating means for evaporating the fluid within the vessel. This heating creates a pressure head within the vessel when the gas discharge outlet is closed thereby causing the fluid to flow through the conduit.

  • Patent number: 4730977
Abstract: A plurality of openings are provided in a stationary wall of a gas turbine engine aft of the compressor discharge to admit compressor discharge air into a sealed cavity formed between the stationary wall and the rotor of the gas turbine engine. A valve, biased to an open position, is associated with each of the openings so that under low speed conditions some of the compressor discharge air is admitted to the cavity to provide supplementary axial force on the rotor in one direction to prevent crossover under such conditions. Under higher speed conditions the increase in compressor discharge pressure overcomes the force biasing the valve to its open position, thereby causing the valve to close and terminate flow of compressor discharge air to the cavity, terminating the aforementioned supplementary axial force on the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4715213
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring the leakage flow rate through a labyrinth seal is disclosed. This is achieved by first injecting a tracer gas through a spray tube at an upstream region of the seal. The tracer gas mixes with the gas stream to form a mixed flow stream. The concentration of the tracer gas in the mixed flow stream is then measured, allowing the leakage flow rate to be calculated.
