Abstract: An apparatus and method for forming a cover about an article and for automatically fastening the cover to the article, and optionally for automatically placing a label on the covered article. The article may be an article such as a potted plant and the cover may be a decorative cover. The apparatus includes a platform and a conveyable cover forming assembly. A sheet of material can be supported in a position generally over the opening. The article can be pushed into the cover forming assembly, causing the sheet to be formed into a cover about the article. The apparatus also comprises a tying device for automatically applying a band or fastener about a portion of the outer surface of the covered article for fastening the cover about the article after the sheet is formed into a cover about the article.
Abstract: A suction skimmer for removing an upper portion of a liquid from a vessel under substantially laminar flow conditions which includes a body member having a fluid flow passageway extending therethrough and at least one slot formed in an upper portion of the body member which openly communicates with the fluid flow passageway. The suction skimmer also includes a throttle assembly for varying the length of the slot in the body member.
Abstract: A drain insert for a plant container having a vertically disposed drain hole in the bottom portion thereof which permits proper drainage of excess fluids through the drain hole, while substantially eliminating the loss of potting medium through the drain hole. The drain insert includes a low profile body member having a plurality of first fluid flow passageways extending therethrough and a plurality of stabilizer members extending from the body member and positionable with the drain hole so that the body member is stabilized in a covering position a preselected distance above the drain hole. The stabilizer members cooperate to define a second fluid flow passageway having a substantially vertically disposed first portion and a plurality of substantially horizontally disposed second portions.
Abstract: An improved security holster comprising a solenoid having a plunger member positionable in a locked gun position wherein the plunger member extends through the trigger guard of the gun when the gun is disposed in a pocket defined by a holster body and positionable in an unlocked gun position wherein the plunger member is retracted from the trigger guard of the gun. The solenoid is connected to a power source and a magnetic reed switch is interposed between the solenoid and the power source to allow electrical continuity to be established between the power source and the solenoid by placing a magnet, located on an individual's hand, near the switch. In an energized condition, the solenoid positions the plunger member in the unlocked position and in a non-energized condition the plunger member is biased in the locked gun position.
Abstract: A method for wrapping a floral grouping wherein a plurality of sheets of material are connected into a pad of sheets of material. The pad has a top sheet of material with the other sheets of material being disposed under the top sheet of material. The floral grouping is placed on the top sheet of material. The top sheet of material is wrapped about a portion of the floral grouping and the top sheet of material and the floral grouping are rolled to wrap the floral grouping in the top sheet of material and simultaneously disconnect the top sheet of material from the pad. The sheets of material are secured about the floral grouping in a wrapped position by an adhesive or cohesive on the sheets of material and the sheets of material are secured in the form of the pad by the adhesive or cohesive materials on the sheet.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for removing debris from the bore of a barrel lock is disclosed. The apparatus is a cleaning tool comprising a handle, the handle having a first end having a rod with a sharp end for picking and dislodging debris and a second end having a rod with a brush for clearing away the debris. The apparatus comprises several alternative types of handles including a hollow handle for storing detachable rods. The rods may be permanently or detachably connected to the handle. The sharp end of the rod may be curved. The invention comprises several means for detachably connecting the rods to the handle.
