Abstract: A footboard for play, exercise and practice of aerial maneuvers and recreational moves on a jumping device. The footboard is preferably flexible in a variety of directions, but has sufficient firmness so as to allow the board to retain a desired shape. The footboard is attached to the user's feet by a strap system, which holds the user's feet within recesses in the board itself. The footboard is preferably waterproof or water resistant for use on water trampolines, in lakes and swimming pools. Handgrips may be provided at one or more locations of the footboard, which, combined with the flexibility of the board, enhance the moves and style of the practicing foot boarder.
Abstract: A method and device for coring and cutting food products such as peppers in a hydrocutter. The preferred embodiment of the invention includes an outer rim, which is configured for placement within a hydrocutter. This rim has a first end and a second end and defines a passageway there through. A coring cutter is suspended in a generally centrally located position within this passageway. This coring cutter includes pairs of peaks and troughs which are positioned so as to impact the item being processed prior to the other portions of the coring cutter and by so doing enable the device to be cut with decreased amounts of force and water pressure upon the device. Thus preserving fragile structures such as a pepper.
Abstract: A backpack with a receptacle and a tether has been devised whereby the user has a convenient place for the storage and carriage of a weapon, such as an archery bow or a long gun firearm. The backpack has the advantage of allowing the removal of the weapon from the backpack without first removing the pack from the user's back. It is equipped with at least one shoulder strap. In an ideal embodiment, a waist belt is included to facilitate the stabilization of the backpack, as well as to contribute to the load bearing functions of the backpack.
Abstract: A method for incorporating the cremation remains of a deceased being into a plant, wherein cremation remains are deposited either in a hole in which a plant is to be planted or, in the case of an already-planted plant, into a conduit created between the plant's roots and the surface near the plant or into a cavity bored into the stem or trunk of the plant.
Abstract: Disclosed is an ice fishing device which holds a fishing rod in a bent position until a fish strikes the line. A trigger releases the tip of the fishing rod, and the rod tip snaps up and sets the hook. A jigging assembly imparts an up and down movement to the line and the attached hook, to attract fish to the hook and bait.
Abstract: Disclosed is a sensor capable of measuring motion in a harsh environment. The sensor uses a fiber optic sensor element formed within a core of an optical fiber that is disposed within an enclosure made of a high strength, corrosion-resistant material. The optical fiber is attached to a supporting fixture in a cantilever fashion so that the intrinsic internal mass of the optical fiber has the freedom to be affected by gravity so that an environmental disturbance acting on the sensor results in a bending strain being applied to the optical fiber. A Bragg grating is located at the bending portion of the optical fiber. The modulation of an optical signal promulgating through the optical fiber is sensed using conventional means and used to measure the magnitude of the environmental disturbance.
Abstract: A formation engaging member for use in an open hole anchor (10) is described. The formation engaging member has at least one first open hole surface engaging element (20) for penetrating a surface of an open hole, and at least one second open hole surface engaging element (22) for fractionally interacting with a surface of the open hole to form an interference engagement. A method of anchoring to a formation surface of an open hole and an anchor are also described.
Abstract: A solid lubricant and composition useful for lubricating the flanges of locomotive wheels, railcar wheels, rail track and in applications where it is desirable to reduce friction when metal contacts metal. The solid lubricant having from about twenty-five percent to about seventy percent by volume of a polymeric carrier, about five to seventy-five percent by volume of organic and inorganic extreme pressure additives, about zero to twenty percent by volume synthetic extreme pressure anti-wear liquid oil, and about zero to one percent by volume optical brightener.
Abstract: A child safety seat pad having a bottom seat portion and a back portion is configured to cover the exposed child contact areas of a safety seat and is releasably secured to the seat by fasteners. Perforation lines or slits in the seat back portion connect to perforations lines or slits in the bottom seat portion of the pad. These may be opened to provide apertures for connecting safety harness webbing to safety seat anchor points. A smaller pad is provided for inclusion in the bottom seat portion.
Abstract: A treadmill-like device for exercising large animals such as dairy cows. The large animal exercising device includes a hoof abrasion system and treadmill cleaning or flushing system. The exercise device of the invention can also include a cow identification reader for recovering information off of a data storage or identification device attached to the cow, with such information potentially including exercise pace and duration as well as animal routing information after an exercise session is completed.
Abstract: The invention is a portable sampling system for sampling various media for contaminants. The media sample can include gases, liquids, and dry powders. The contaminant sample can include gaseous components, particulates of various kinds, and microorganisms. The system can be used to sample the surfaces of fruits and vegetables, meat carcasses, the interior of envelopes of other containers, gases in rooms or containers, and surfaces such as countertops, a vehicle exterior, skin, and clothing.
