  • Patent number: 8248934
Abstract: An apparatus for determining and displaying a transaction reset metric of individual transactions between host devices operating over a network includes a network management device, a processor, and a display device. The network management device monitors flows between the hosts, where the individual flows include individual transactions involving exchanges of packets. The network management device identifies flow resets that terminate flows between hosts. The processor evaluates the flow resets by identifying each flow reset that occurred during an incomplete transaction as a transaction reset and computes a transaction reset count metric as the sum of transaction resets that occur. The processor also identifies individual transactions terminated by a transaction reset. The display device displays on an individual transaction basis whether or not individual transactions were terminated by a transaction reset and displays the transaction reset count metric for selected portions of the network under test.

  • Patent number: 8249538
Abstract: An offset direct conversion receiver apparatus and corresponding receiving method are provided. A received wireless signal is directly downconverted and demodulated to a baseband offset frequency that is offset from zero frequency to produce an in-phase (I) baseband offset signal centered at the baseband offset frequency and a quadrature-phase (Q) baseband offset signal centered at the baseband offset frequency. The I baseband offset signal and Q baseband offset signal are bandpass filtered to produce an I bandpass signal and a Q bandpass signal, respectively. The I bandpass signal and the Q bandpass signal are downconverted from the baseband offset frequency to zero frequency to produce an I baseband receive signal and a Q baseband receive signal. A technique and logic are also provided to select the best baseband offset frequency used in an offset direct conversion receiver.

  • Patent number: 8238557
Abstract: An encoder according to the present invention embodiments employs a key expansion module to expand an encryption key by using logic and available clock cycles of an encryption process or loop. The key expansion module generates control signals to enable key expansion data to be injected at appropriate times into the encryption loop (e.g., during available clock cycles of the encryption loop) to perform the key expansion, thereby utilizing the resources of the encryption loop for key expansion. The key expansion module dynamically accounts for varying key lengths, and enables the encryption loop to combine the data being encrypted with proper portions of the expanded key. The use of encryption logic and available clock cycles of the encryption loop for the key expansion reduces the area needed by the encoder on a chip and enhances encoder throughput.

  • Patent number: 8230468
Abstract: A system and process are provided to reduce the latency associated with delivery of data for trick functions (e.g., fast-forward or rewind) in data distribution systems. In response to a request for a trick function associated with program data being streamed to a user terminal, first trick data frames for the trick function are retrieved from a first computing apparatus (e.g., a storage server) and in the meantime second trick data frames for the trick function are generated at a second computing apparatus (e.g., streaming server). Until the first trick data frames arrive from the first computing apparatus, the second computing device streams the second trick data frames to the user terminal. The second computing apparatus streams the first trick data frame to the user terminal as they arrive.
