  • Patent number: 4280805
Abstract: A process and multistation apparatus for injection blow molding a thermoplastic material to form a blow molded container having an integral injection molded handle is disclosed. The process and apparatus feature an injection mold which is closed to form an injection mold cavity with a contiguous injection mold handle cavity. A preform pin is inserted into the injection mold cavity through a preform carrier to form a preform recess into which hot thermoplastic is injected to form a hollow preform having a solid injection molded handle. After cooling the thermoplastic preform the preform pin is withdrawn and the molds are opened. The injection formed preform may be optionally heat treated prior to the preform being enclosed within a blow mold. The blow mold forms a cavity having the final desired container shape and a cavity into which the handle is enclosed.

  • Patent number: 4247048
Abstract: A two-piece nozzle for use on hand actuated pump dispensers is disclosed. The nozzle features a tubular member, which may be a part of the main body of the pump, having a circular, planar face at its terminal end. A hollow bore extending through the tubular member and the hollow face is in liquid passage communication with a recess in the planar face. A cap is rotatably mounted to the tubular member and has an end wall with a planar inside surface which will form an interface with the circular planar face of the tubular member. Radially displaced from the center axis of the circular skirt is a dispensing orifice which is registerable with the recess present in the planar face of the tubular member. A sealing boss surrounds the dispensing orifice and bore to provide a liquid-tight seal with the planar face when the orifice is not in registration with the recess. Mounting structure is provided on the cap and tubular member for achieving a rotating mount of the cap to the tubular member.

  • Patent number: 4237643
Abstract: An artificial fishing lure which may be fished within aquatic weeds without the lure hooks tangling themselves in the weeds is disclosed. The lure features a lure body having a hollow portion into which an automatically actuated hooking mechanism is housed. The hooking mechanism has a pair of hooks which are mounted at their shanks to a pivot rigidly mounted in the hollow portion. The hooks are originally within the housing and are arcuately movable about the pivot so that the hook points are outside the hollow portion and facing forward. To achieve this arcuate motion, an elongated V-shaped spring is slidably carried within the hollow portion and is attached at its leg ends to the hook ends. These points of connection will assume a position rearward of the pivot when the hooks are in the retracted position and within the hollow portion. When the points of connection are moved forward of the pivot, the spring action causes the hooks to move arcuately outward in the outside position and facing forward.

  • Patent number: 4235557
Abstract: A device is disclosed for the packaging and dispensing of a hot-fill solid product such as solid antiperspirant. The device provides for product holding structure which will have selectively attached thereto a cover which will, along with the produce holding structure, provide a cavity into which the hot-fill product may be introduced. Also attached to the product holding structure is a handle. In use, the cover is removed from the product holding structure to expose the product so that it may be applied. The cover may have a structure on its outside surface for supporting the device in an upright position with the cover being at the bottom and the handle at the top. Alternatively, the handle may have supporting structure which will allow setting of the device down on the handle so that the handle is on the bottom and the cover is on the top.

  • Patent number: 4206851
Abstract: A thermoplastic tamperproof closure for fitment to a container is disclosed. The container has a threaded neck and an outwardly extending flange beneath the neck threads. The closure features a top wall with an annular sidewall downwardly depending therefrom and having about its inside surface a thread for cooperation with the container thread. Attached to the sidewall by a plurality of spaced apart, non-fracturable ribs is a fracturable band which will fit in a position of intereference under the container flange. This fit is achieved by applying heat to the ribs and band, after the closure is fitted to the container, causing the band and ribs to shrink to the position of interference.
