  • Patent number: 4049512
Abstract: An apparatus for electrolytically extracting metals from salts in solution including a novel cathode structure which greatly increases the rate of extraction is disclosed. More specifically, the novel cathode structure comprises a shaft having a plurality of flexible circular members mounted in spaced relation thereon. The members have impellers thereon for circulating the solution about the anodes and cathodes. The concave members are sufficiently flexible that they may be easily everted so as to cause the metal deposited thereon to pop off. One preferred embodiment includes a tube inlet which prevents plating of silver in a connected feed tank.

  • Patent number: 4011970
Abstract: An overcap for use on dispensing containers which cap offers resistance to attempts by a child to dispense the contents from the container is disclosed. The overcap features an actuator mounted on the container dispensing stem, an outer shell which encloses the actuator and a U-shaped communicator which movably contacts, at its bottom end, the actuator and which has a portion of each vertical leg protruding through apertures in the outer shell. Pressing downward on both of the protruding legs simultaneously will depress the actuator and cause the contents of the container to be dispensed. Application of downward pressure on only one of the protruding legs will not result in depression of the actuator but rather only partial rotation of the communicator on the top of the actuator.

  • Patent number: 4002275
Abstract: A safety dispensing cap for fluid containers is disclosed. The cap features a tubular discharge member, a tubular closing member for attaining a rotating overlying removable fit on the discharge member and an internal latching assembly which is activated or deactivated by rotation of the tubular closing member about the tubular discharge member. The latching assembly comprises an inwardly extending latching lug on the tubular closing member and an outwardly extending latching lug on the tubular discharge member. In the locked position, the discharge latching lug will overlie the closing latching lug thus preventing removal of the closing member from the discharge member. Unlatching of the two members is achieved by a rotation of the closing member until the closing member latching lug is no longer underneath the discharge member closing lug. An indexing assembly can also be provided which will hold the unlocked position.

  • Patent number: 3985239
Abstract: An apparatus for removing a hollow article from a mandrel is disclosed. The apparatus features an engaging member for contacting the hollow article and an assembly for bringing the engaging member from close proximity to the article into contact with the article and for applying a force through the engaging member to the article so as to remove it from the mandrel. The assembly includes a pivoted rod and a slidable collar mounted thereon, the collar being attached to the engaging member. Motion of the collar up and down the rod is achieved by a reciprocating power cylinder which communicates with the slidable collar by means of a slotted arm. The slotted arm is movably connected to the collar by means of a pin mounted on the collar. Not only does the follower pin slide within the slot of the arm, it also is slidable within a track defined in a plate which is adjacent to the rod.

  • Patent number: 3968880
Abstract: A "childproof" container having reproducible opening and closing characteristics is disclosed. The container is an integrally formed, one-piece, plastic container having a bottom section and an overlying top section hinged to the bottom section. A latching assembly which prevents undesirable "relock" when the container is being opened is featured. The portion of the locking assembly which is carried by the bottom section comprises an upwardly projecting latching lug which is thicker at its distal end than at its proximate end. The top section carries the other portion of the locking assembly which features a downwardly projecting latching protuberance on its top wall and an inwardly projecting latching protuberance on its front wall. The two protuberances are spaced apart so that the distance between them is less than the distal thickness of the latching lug carried by the bottom section.

  • Patent number: 3954201
Abstract: A housing for holding containers therein is disclosed. The housing features an open-bottomed, elongated, hollow body member which member has the conventional sidewalls and top wall, and a removable bottom wall member which cooperates with the open bottom of the elongated, hollow body member to close off the bottom thereof. Latching members, which are part of the bottom wall member, are lockably engageable with engaging members formed in the interior and at the bottom portion of the elongated, hollow body member. The latches lock the bottom wall member to the elongated, hollow body member by means of force exerted by torsion members connected to the latching members and carried by the bottom wall member.
