  • Patent number: 4466066
Abstract: An anti-locking brake force regulating device for rail vehicles has a digital evaluation circuit which monitors the speed, acceleration and slip of at least one braked wheel and transmits braking instructions to a brake actuating element. The instructions include a rapid or slow increase or decrease of brake pressure or maintaining the brake pressure constant. In order to achieve a smooth control during a braking operation, the evaluation circuit is such that after instructing a rapid change of brake pressure in response to exceeding a predetermined threshold value a slow change of brake pressure in the same direction as the rapid change is instructed if the threshold value is again exceeded and the slow pressure change begins by a maintaining brake pressure constant phase. The slow or pulsed brake pressure change is preferably maintained for a fixed predetermined period of time.

  • Patent number: 4463979
Abstract: A device for handling a cored building block has a substantially U-shaped body portion which is inserted into the core of a building block such that the curved base and one end of a leg exert opposing forces on the wall of the core when an upward lifting force is applied to a handle attached to the other leg of the body portion and positioned substantially horizontally in the lifting position. A modification includes a U-shaped body portion, one leg of which is longer than the other and the legs are straddled over a wall separating cores of a building block to exert forces on the wall when an upward lifting force is applied to a handle attached to the curved base of the body portion.

  • Patent number: 4451889
Abstract: An anti-lock device for the brakes of vehicles, particularly rail vehicles, regulates the applied braking force. An evaluation circuit monitors the speed, acceleration and slip of at least one braked wheel and in response to the rotational behavior of the wheel generates instructions for the brake actuating element. The evaluation circuit maintains the brake pressure constant during the initial phase upon the first application of brakes until the wheel acceleration falls below a predetermined negative threshold value. The initial phase is terminated when the wheel acceleration falls below a further predetermined reference value which is lower than the first threshold value. Upon termination of the initial phase, the brake pressure is again varied in a manner as known in the art.

  • Patent number: 4439644
Abstract: A loudspeaker enclosure has a loudspeaker driver mounted on a surface of the enclosure such that the driver has an exposed front face to produce sound waves which are sought to be transmitted to a listening space exterior of the loudspeaker enclosure. A plurality of successive spaced limp or semi-limp non-porous pliable barriers are positioned in an opening between the interior and exterior spaces of the enclosure so as to relieve rear pressure of the loudspeaker driver while attenuating the rear sound waves and providing a damping effect on the loudspeaker driver.

  • Patent number: 4430822
Abstract: The firearm has a rigid frame comprising a pair of vertically spaced substantially parallel hollow rods which are interconnected at their respective front and rear ends by vertical crosspieces. A barrel is mounted between the hollow rods and at the end of the barrel in the vicinity of the rearward end of the frame is a breech assembly which is interconnected to both the upper and lower rods. A shoulder support is mounted on the rear ends of the rods and positioned symmetrically with respect to the barrel. The shoulder support and other components of the firearm such as the pistol grip, front stock, rear stock and sight means are each individually and independently adjustable on the frame so as to conform to the physical characteristics of an individual shooter.

  • Patent number: 4431089
Abstract: The device automatically adjusts the slack in the brake linkage of railway vehicle during the braking process and has two telescoping rod members one of which is connected with a brake motor and the other is connected to the brake linkage. A nut, nonrotateably mounted on the brake linkage rod member, is threaded upon a rotateable spindle shaft which is axially moveable a limited distance within the brake motor rod member and is connected to this rod member by a control clutch. When the control clutch is stressed by torque, the control clutch member will become disengaged from the brake motor rod member to permit a relative adjustment between the two rod members to overcome any slack. When slack is overcome, a rotary clutch between the threaded spindle and the brake motor rod member will be engaged so that braking force can be transmitted between the rod members.

  • Patent number: 4431282
Abstract: Diapositives are mounted in a strip formed by a pair of flexible sheet members each having at least two picture openings therein in side-by-side relationship and the sheet members are fastened to each other in face-to-face relationship mutually offset by a single picture opening. The frame is interposed between the sheet members and a diapositive is moveably positioned within an opening in the frame. The thickness of the frame is greater than that of the diapositive so that a diapositive is freely moveable within a frame opening and has play between the sheet members. An apparatus for projecting the strip mounted diapositives is provided with a pair of cassettes one of which contains a strip in which the diapositives are mounted and the second cassette contains a strip without any diapositives. The ends of the strips are automatically connected to each other for successively introducing the diapositives into the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4430703
Abstract: An anti-lock device for vehicle brakes has a wheel generator which emits pulse-type signals whose frequency is proportional to the rotary speed of the wheel. A counter counts the pulses emitted during each of successive time intervals and these pulses are connected to a first memory which stores the count of the immediate preceding time interval and to a second memory which stores the count of the time interval next preceding the intermediate time interval. A logic circuit then produces a wheel speed value which is based on the wheel speed counts of the immediate preceding and next preceding time intervals.

  • Patent number: 4422256
Abstract: A shoulder firearm, such as a sport rifle and the like, has a cheek-piece which is adjustable vertically and laterally with respect to the gunstock. Two spacer members are loosely positioned in correspondingly aligned bores or recesses in the cheek-piece and gunstock. Each spacer member has a plurality of pairs of opposed parallel surfaces and the distances between each pair of parallel surfaces are different. The spacer members may be in the form of blocks or cylindrical elements.
