Abstract: New styrene-functional polysiloxanes are described which are obtained by reaction of aminoalkyl functional polysiloxanes with styrene isocyanates. The styrene functional urea polysiloxanes have improved hydrolytic stability and are useful, either by themselves or in combination with copolymerizable comonomers, in UV- or heat curable biocompatible and oxygen permeable coatings, films or shaped articles, especially in form of oxygen permeable contact lenses.
Abstract: A method and composition useful in fabricating radiation-absorbing contact lenses, especially ultraviolet (UV) and visible (tint) light-absorbing lenses. The radiation-absorber is incorporated into a contact lens in the presence of a buffer which maintains the pH near neutral. Abstract: According to the invention, there is provided an inbred corn line, designated CG00637. This invention thus relates to the plants and seeds of inbred corn line CG00637 and to methods for producing a corn plant produced by crossing the inbred line CG00637 with itself or with another corn line. This invention further relates to hybrid corn seeds and plants produced by crossing the inbred line CG00637 with another corn line.
Abstract: The soft toric contact lens has a substantially rotationally symmetrical front face optionally having a rotationally symmetrical lenticular construction, and a substantially aspherical, especially ellipsoidal, rear face. The optically active central region of the rear face is toric. Shifting the torus to the central region of the lens rear face results in lenses that are economic to produce, are of wearable thickness and are straightforward to fit.

Abstract: Mixtures of certain triazole fungicides (component I) and 4,6-dimethyl-N-phenyl-2-pyrimidinamine (component II) achieve synergistically enhanced activity against fungus infestation. Components I and II can also be applied to plant crops individually, one immediately after the other.
Abstract: In order to remove impurities and contaminations adhering to the surfaces of an optical component, especially to the front and rear faces of a contact lens, electromagnetic radiation is caused to act on the optical component. Using that electromagnetic radiation, preferably the light of an excimer laser the wavelength, energy density and intensity of which are adjustable, the adherent impurities and any microorganisms present are killed, deactivated and removed photo-ablatively.
