Patent number: 6290204Abstract: A valve for controlling liquids for its actuation is provided with a liquid-filled coupling chamber, which is disposed between a step-up piston, actuatable by a piezoelectric actuator, and a piston that actuates a valve member. To compensate for leakage in the coupling chamber that is at high pressure, a filling valve is provided. The filling valve is disposed between the step-up piston and the piezoelectric actuator. Upon each return stroke of the piezoelectric actuator, the step-up piston follows the piezoelectric actuator with a time lag, so that the filling valve opens briefly and allows filling of the coupling chamber. The valves intended for use in fuel injection systems for internal combustion engines of motor vehicles.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 1999Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: DIeter Kienzler, Klaus-Peter Schmoll, Friedrich Boecking

Patent number: 6288466Abstract: An electric drive unit having an electric drive motor and a transmission. The electric drive motor has an armature shaft which extends, for example, to a worm shaft of the transmission. The shaft is embodied of one piece with the armature shaft. A first bearing and a second bearing are provided to support the armature shaft. The second bearing is embodied as a ball bearing with an outer ring, an inner ring, and balls. The inner ring is press-fitted in a rotationally fixed manner onto the armature shaft. The outer ring is slid into a receiving bore disposed in the transmission housing and is pressed against an axial stop face adjoining the receiving bore by means of a retaining part that is supported in an installation channel and has flexible tongues that are directed toward the outer ring. This axial pressing can be produced in an easy-to-assemble fashion and is also inexpensive thanks to a low cost of the retaining part.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2000Date of Patent: September 11, 2001Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Detlef Lauk, Ernst Fischer, Hansjoerg Karcher, Juergen Herp, Erik Maurer, Andreas Wiegert, Richard Hurst, Anton Waibel

Patent number: 6286567Abstract: An apparatus for volumetric metering of small quantities of a product and dispensing them into containers (a) has a metering disk that revolves around a vertical axis and has metering chambers embodied as apertures disposed in groups on a pitch circle. To close the lower opening of the metering chambers, pushers with apertures are displaceably supported on the underside of the metering disk; in the filling position, they close the metering chambers, and in the evacuation position they open them. The pushers are pulled into the filling position by a spring and are pressed into the evacuation position by a controlled stop.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2000Date of Patent: September 11, 2001Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventor: Werner Runft -
Patent number: 6283390Abstract: A fuel injection device for internal combustion engines, having a fuel injection pump, which can be inserted into a housing of the engine and is axially clamped together with a fuel injection valve by means of a clamping sleeve. The valve, with an end remote from the pump, protrudes into a combustion chamber of the engine. A fuel supply line to the fuel injection pump feeds into an annular chamber encompassing the clamping sleeve and, via through openings in the clamping sleeve and inlet conduits in the pump housing, the valve can be connected to a pump working chamber of fuel injection pump. According to the invention, the fuel filter in the inlet to the pump working chamber is constituted by the clamping sleeve, which has a multitude of filter openings for this purpose in its circumference wall, in the vicinity of the annular chamber.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1999Date of Patent: September 4, 2001Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Peter Brendle, Rainer Schneider, Achim Eisemann, Maximilian Kronberger, Herbert Strahberger, Ernst Feichtinger

Patent number: 6280167Abstract: A gear pump has a gear wheel with teeth on an outer circumference and a second gear ring with teeth on the inside surface. The gear ring is guided in a circular-cylindrical recess of a housing and together with the gear wheel, each rotates about their own axis which are offset from one another. The gear pump is equipped with an intake opening and a crescent-shaped pressure opening in a first side wall of the housing that defines the recess. A countersunk feature is also provided, embodied as a hollow cone, in a second wall of the housing opposite the pressure opening. The hollow cone, which is in fluid communication with the pressure opening, promotes the buildup of a fluid film between the gear ring and the housing, which improves the wear resistance of the gear pump.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2000Date of Patent: August 28, 2001Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Arnold Pahl, Rolf Hummel, Gerd Baur

Patent number: 6280160Abstract: A fuel injection pump of the distributor type which has a reciprocatingly driven pump piston that is load-bearing in a rotating distributor shaft which pumps fuel out of a pump work chamber to various fuel injection valves via a distributor opening. To control the duration of high-pressure injection, an electrically actuated valve is provided with a valve member in a valve chamber that communicates with the pump work chamber and from a second valve chamber, communicates with a low-pressure region. To terminate the high-pressure injection, the valve member makes a communication between the two valve chambers, whereupon the outflow of the fuel stream is controlled by disposing a diameter constriction in the connecting line, thus reducing any tendency to cavitation.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1999Date of Patent: August 28, 2001Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Heinz Nothdurft, Nestor Rodriguez-Amaya, Andreas Dutt, Hubert Greif
