  • Patent number: 6224351
Abstract: A radial piston pump for high-pressure fuel delivery in fuel injection systems of internal combustion engines, particularly in a common rail injection system. A drive shaft is supported in a pump housing and is embodied as eccentric or has cam-like projections in the circumference direction. A number of pistons are each disposed in a respective element bore and are situated radially in relation to the drive shaft. The pistons can be set into a reciprocating motion in the radial direction inside the respective element bore through the rotation of the drive shaft in order to aspirate fuel by way of an intake conduit in which an intake valve is disposed. The fuel is aspirated into a cylinder chamber that is defined by the piston in the element bore and is connected to a high-pressure conduit in which a high-pressure valve is disposed. The element bore is disposed together with the intake conduit and the high-pressure conduit in an element head.

  • Patent number: 6223734
Abstract: A fuel injection system comprising a common rail pressure reservoir filled with fuel at high pressure and having a dual-substance nozzle for dual fluid injection of fuel and a supplementary liquid into an internal combustion engine. The system includes a first 2/2-way valve, in the injection line between the common rail pressure reservoir and a pressure chamber surrounding the nozzle needle of the dual-substance nozzle, and a second 2/2-way valve, whose inlet communicates, via a feed line with the injection line at a point between the first 2/2-way valve and the pressure chamber. An outlet of the pressure chamber communicates with the low-pressure fuel side via a drain line (8). As a result, the otherwise usual, technologically much more complicated 3/2-way magnet valves can be replaced with more economical 2/2-way valves. At the same time, the possibility is afforded of shifting the quantity metering for supplementary liquid to a single metering valve that serves an entire group of fuel injectors.

  • Patent number: 6213256
Abstract: An electromechanical wheel brake device with a screw link actuator that is supported in a floating caliper, and driven by an electric motor. The screw link actuator can press a frictional brake lining against one side of a brake disk. The floating caliper can press a second frictional brake lining against the other side of the brake disk by means of a reaction force. In order to release the wheel brake device in the event of a malfunction, the screw link actuator as self locking-free, supports both a spindle nut and a threaded spindle so that the spindle nut and threaded spindle they can rotate, and securing the threaded spindle against rotation by means of a releasable rotation prevention device. In the event of a malfunction, the rotation prevention device is released and the frictional brake lining that is pressed with force against the brake disk pushes the threaded spindle away from the brake disk, wherein the threaded spindle is set into rotation and moves away from the brake disk.

  • Patent number: 6196193
Abstract: A fuel device including a high-pressure fuel source from which fuel is supplied to fuel injection valves. The fuel injection valves are controlled with the aid of a valve that is driven by a piezoelectric or magnetostrictive drive mechanism. With the aid of this drive mechanism, a 3-way valve having a closing body can be adjusted in an intermediary position in which a control chamber, by way of which a hydraulic force can be exerted in the closing direction on a valve closing member of the injection valve, can simultaneously be connected to a high-pressure fuel source and a relief chamber in order to adjust a control pressure that lies between the high pressure of the high-pressure source and a relief pressure. In this manner, a partial opening of the injection valve member of the injection valve can be adjusted in order to introduce a reduced injection quantity into the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 6196201
Abstract: A pressure control valve for installation in a supply line between a pump work chamber of a fuel injection pump and an injection point in the engine to be supplied. A valve body that has a first valve seat and an axial through conduit in which a pressure control valve closing member is guided. The pressure control valve closing member opens toward the injection point counter to the force of a first valve spring and has a sealing face that cooperates with the first valve seat, as well as with an axial through bore in the pressure control valve closing member. The bore can be closed by a back-flow valve that opens in the direction of the pump work chamber and has a second valve spring. For an optimal, unthrottled fuel flow through the pressure control valve, fuel conduits are respectively formed between the radially outer circumference faces of the first and second valve springs and the housing walls that encompass them, through which conduit the fuel flows in an unthrottled fashion.
