Abstract: A light assembly includes a metal halide light source having an arc tube with first and second legs extending from a discharge chamber. A light transmissive capsule surrounds the light source. A reflector is received in the capsule and has a large diameter, annular first portion that receives light from the discharge chamber and is dimensioned to operatively engage an inner surface of the capsule to mount the reflector assembly and light source relative to the capsule. In addition, a small diameter portion of the reflector assembly is received around the first leg. By electrically interconnecting the reflector with the second electrode assembly, namely the support leg, and positioning the small diameter portion closer to the first electrode assembly than the dimension between the electrode terminal ends allows the reflector to also serve as an ignition aid.

Abstract: A computerized system, method, and software apparatus is presented which reduces the black level of the printing process in order to substantially remove stray black dots from the finished product of a printing output. Black levels are reduced by updating the print engine regions for the colors W, C, M, Y, MY, CM, CY, and neutral and by assigning a weights each color. The values are used to compute CMKY values. These values are then placed in a gain matrix and stored in a computer memory.
Abstract: A method of digital printing in which each of the page images of a print job with a large number of sequential pages to be printed is classified as to the job or document type. Upon occurrence of a fault in printing, upon fault clearance and resumption of printing, only those pages having the same classification as the pages involved in the fault are reprinted in sequence from the fault.

Abstract: A system and a method of providing a time-out for a device, such as a printer are provided. The time-out determines when the device is shifted from a higher energy to a lower energy mode, absent the arrival of another job to be processed by the device. The method includes acquiring data comprising a set of inter-arrival times for at least one device over a period of time, such as a week and, for each of a set of candidate time-outs, deriving a probability from the data that an inter-arrival time from the set of inter-arrival times is greater than the candidate time-out. A cost function is computed, based on the derived probability and a robustness term which allows adversarial action not predicted by the histogram to be taken into account. A time-out for the at least one device can then be identified for which the cost function is a minimum.

Abstract: A stent for insertion in a fluid conduit of a human or animal body when the stent is in a collapsed condition and for expansion to an expanded condition, includes an outer wall for engagement with the conduit. The outer wall has a helical portion which in the expanded condition extends longitudinally and circumferentially, and which, upon expansion of the stent from the collapsed condition to the expanded condition, resists extension.

Abstract: This invention proposes providing support for remote call forwarding set-up for IP desk phones via messaging. Whenever a user wants to set-up or change call forwarding for his/her IP desk phone, the user can send a Short Message (SM) to user's IP desk phone. The user can send such call forwarding set-up/change SM via user's mobile phone or from any internet connected e-mail system. With this approach, the user can set-up the call forwarding for his/her IP desk phone anytime, anywhere and with immediate effect.
Abstract: Current source converter drives and common mode voltage reduction techniques are presented in which a space vector modulation zero vector for current source inverter (or rectifier) control is selected according to the switching state of the current source rectifier (or inverter) and according to the AC input power and the AC output power to control the output common mode voltage.
Abstract: An LED light fixture and methods are provided in which the light from central portions of the LED light sources are reflected to illuminate areas on the periphery of an associated area, while less intense light from the sides of the LED light sources illuminate interior portions of the associated area to produce a uniform illumination, both horizontally and vertically, while minimizing direct glare from the light sources. The LED light fixture includes a heat sink having cooling fins on the periphery of the housing.

Abstract: A method of characterizing a word image includes traversing the word image in steps with a window and at each of a plurality of the steps, identifying a window image. For each of the plurality of window images, a feature is extracted. The word image is characterized, based on the features extracted from the plurality of window images, wherein the features are considered as a loose collection with associated sequential information.
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of data retransmission in MBMS (Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service), comprising: a step in which a base station allocates an uplink time-frequency resource block to mobile stations; a step in which the mobile stations feed back uplink feedback signalings with respect to the received downlink MBMS service data to the base station on the allocated uplink time-frequency resource block, wherein the uplink feedback signalings with respect to one and the same downlink MBMS service data are combined in one and the same uplink time-frequency resource, and the uplink feedback signalings with respect to different downlink MBMS service data are multiplexed in one uplink time-frequency resource block; a step in which the base station decides whether to retransmit a data block based on the fed-back uplink feedback signalings.
Abstract: When employing an a cruise control system in a commercial or heavy-duty vehicle, an adaptive cruise control (ACC) system (14) is activated upon activation of a vehicle or set-speed cruise control (SSCC) system (16). The ACC (14) remains on, even after SSCC shutoff, to maintain a minimum following distance for a primary vehicle in which the ACC (14) is employed and a forward vehicle. The ACC (14) is deactivated after detection of an ACC shutoff trigger event, which may be driver application of the brakes of the primary vehicle, driver-initiated acceleration for a predefined time period, expiration of a predetermined time period, manual shutoff (e.g., via a switch or button), etc.

Abstract: A method of measuring and correcting the Young's Modulus inline to eliminate its impact on image length variation during print runtime. The method includes intentionally perturbing the nominal operating condition of the web printing system which is controlled by the double reflex printing controller. The perturbation creates misregistration in a control target printed image that is detectable by in-situ sensors, from which Young's Modulus is estimated. Specifically, the web tension before the print zone is set differently from the web tension in the print zone to create misregistration. The error is detected by the inline sensors, and it is used to calculate the actual Young's Modulus. The implementation of the method consists of measuring the Young's Modulus at various frequencies. The correct Young's Modulus in then incorporated into the double reflex printing algorithm.

Abstract: The invention discloses a method, computer system and computer program of interacting with a user of a messaging client. In the method a transactive engine engages via an agent, a natural language interaction with a user of a messaging client in order to initiate a transaction and determines, based on an adaptive script of the agent, the semantics of natural language input from the user. The existing form of the script is adapted to take into account historical interaction between the agent and the user and historical interaction between other users and the agent. The transactive engine constructs at least one command necessary to execute the transaction and transmitting the at least one command to at least one information system in order to execute the transaction.
