Abstract: Disclosed are printing methods, apparatus and systems to compensate for distortion caused by fusing toner to a media substrate. According to one exemplary embodiment, the method includes processing image data according to media characterization data for a measured fuser temperature. The media characterization data provides a basis to compensate for media substrate shrinkage due to fusing the printed image on the media substrate.
Abstract: A method and system is provided to deter purchases of recalled products. An inventory control system is provided with an identification code corresponding to a recalled product. The identification code of the recalled product is identified when it is scanned or otherwise determined to be part of a sale at a retail establishment. The purchase of the recalled product corresponding to the identification code identified is automatically denied.
Abstract: Document processing systems and methods are presented in which a graphical user interface is used to set a user-selectable refill level for a print engine consumable, such as toner, replenisher, paper, etc. Once the user-selectable level has been reached, the user is notified and is prompted to either refill the print consumable or to continue use of the document processing system without refilling.
Abstract: A coating composition for a fiber-reinforced plastic includes an aliphatic resin such as a saturated aliphatic ester intermediate polyurethane having terminal acrylate end groups, a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, a polyacrylate ester of an alkylene polyol, and a vinyl substituted aromatic.
Abstract: An automatic gray balance control system to produce TRCs for all primary colors in a reproduction device and for each pitch of a photoreceptor system by printing target patches for each pitch, measuring the output colors, and automatically readjusting the tone reproduction curves until a satisfactory level of accuracy is obtained as compared to the theoretical desired output. The system produces pitch-based gray balanced TRCs that are updated frequently for each pitch, with different TRCs for different pitches, to ensure consistency in output from pitch to pitch as well as from page to page on a given pitch.

Abstract: A defect once around signal time period of a defect source inherent in a marking device is determined, the defect source having one or more banding frequencies. A reference scanline time delay, which is a time between a page sync signal and a writing of a reference scanline, is determined. A test target is written, sensed and analyzed. A reference scanline phase offset of each banding frequency relative to the reference scanline is determined. A banding phase of each banding frequency is determined based at least on the defect once around signal time period, reference scanline time delay and reference scanline phase offset.

Abstract: A system facilitates printing of microtext. A processing component allows a user to create one or more microtext characters, wherein the characters are output as a data packet. An SRE code store receives and associates one or more SRE codes with the data packet, each SRE code is representative of a bit pattern, wherein the bit pattern is a grid of bits that are filled to create a particular pattern. A font bank receives the one or more SRE codes from the SRE code store and defines such codes via a font. A raster image processor receives the font from the font bank, decodes the font and outputs instructions to print the microtext.

Abstract: A tippet spool is self-orientating when displayed on pegs at retail. The tippet spool also has structures adapted to interlock adjacent tippet spools in a stack with one spool rotatable with respect to its neighbors. The tippet spool is self orientating because of an asymmetrical central opening with the center of mass of the tippet spool opposite the portion of the central opening furthest from the center of the spool.

Abstract: A data structure is described that comprises a balanced binary tree and a binary heap, which may be utilized for combinatorial searching algorithms. For instance, solutions for performing a task, such as a print job or the like, are associated with nodes that are utilized to generate the data structure. Each node is associated with a quality indicator that describes a most optimal solution that may be reached through the node when traversing the binary tree. The binary heap is generated from a subset of the nodes in the tree, wherein each node in the subset has a quality indicator value that is within a predefined range of a best known solution quality. The binary heap is sorted according to a search effort indicator value for each node, where nodes that are more easily reached in the tree are placed higher in the heap to facilitate rapid identification.
Abstract: A lamp includes a filament for emitting light. The filament includes an emissive substrate which emits radiation when an electric current is applied. The substrate includes a doped surface and a coating layer supported on the doped surface. The coating layer includes at least one of a carbonitride and a boride.
Abstract: A media sheet inverter apparatus and method is disclosed. The media sheet inverter, according to one embodiment of the disclosure, comprises an input nip configured to receive a media sheet and a reversing roll nip configured to receive a media sheet from the input nip. The media sheet is subsequently held within the inverter for a predetermined time before being ejected to an output nip configured to receive the media sheet from the reversing roll nip. The inverter apparatus and method is especially suited to inverting alternating media sheets.

Abstract: A show-through reduction method is disclosed. The method is designed to deal with both light and severe show-through. The method focuses mostly on text documents, with characters possibly appearing in multiple gray levels, although the method can also be extended to color documents. As in the prior art, the front and back pages are processed in pairs. However, no perfect page alignment is assumed here, since we are dealing with real images. Instead, a front and back registration is performed as the first step before the pages are further analyzed. In this method, we are aligning the front page content with its show-through appearing in the back side, and the back page content with its show-through appearing in the front side. Once the two sides are aligned, masks are generated for both sides to differentiate severe show-through and light color content regions. Finally, different TRCs are applied to different regions. The show-through is reduced and the page contents are retained.

Scrolling assemblies in the roll-up display include rotatably mounted scrolling assembly mechanisms for rolling up the flexible display membranes. Some scrolling assemblies are movable and can be extended beyond the housing members. At least one display membrane being covered by at least one other display membrane when the movable scrolling assemblies are not extended, and the covered display membranes being uncovered when the movable scrolling assemblies are extended.
Abstract: Color measurements of color samples are estimated by a system and method wherein an area coverage of a color sample is computed, the color sample is printed, a color of the printed color sample, such as a set of reflectance values, is measured at a first temperature, and a color of the printed color sample is estimated at a second temperature lower than the first temperature, the estimation being based on the area coverage and a thermochromatic model which represents relationships between measured colors of printed color samples at the first and second temperatures.
