  • Patent number: 5935681
Abstract: An air permeable stretch film comprises first and second layers of polymeric film which includes linear low density polyethylene and is capable of stretching at least 150% beyond their original length, said first and second layers clingingly adhered to one another to form a laminate. Each layer of polymer film comprises three sub-layers which are co-extruded. The laminate defines a plurality of self-reinforcing perforations therethrough. The perforations are formed by applying a hot pin to the laminate whereby the polymeric film is melted. As the melt hardens, the perforations become defined by welds or reinforcements which add strength to the film. The resulting film is capable of stretching to approximately 120% beyond its original length. The breathable film is applied to packaging by using stretch wrap machinery.

  • Patent number: 5936353
Abstract: A solid-state lighting unit for automated visual inspection includes a high-density array of light emitting diodes. The packing density of said diode array being limited only by the physical size of the light emitting diode chips and the ability to perform die and wire bond operations on the bare chips. Each diode is disposed on an electrically insulated, thermally conductive base unit. The base unit is, in turn, in a thermally conductive path with a heat dissipator. The provisions made to ensure a thermally conductive path from the individual light emitting diode chips to the heat dissipator combined with the high chip packing densities work together to create a solid-state lighting array capable of producing extremely high illumination fields when operated in either pulsed or continuous current mode.

  • Patent number: 5934711
Abstract: A gas riser apparatus having an O-ring sealing arrangement according to the present invention provides improved sealing between an inner pipe and an outer pipe of the riser apparatus. The riser apparatus includes an inner plastic pipe having one or more grooves for receiving resilient sealing members. A plurality of O-rings are disposed within one annular groove and an outer metal pipe is telescoped over the plastic pipe. An annular crimp extends around the outer metal pipe at a location of the plurality of O-rings and forms a seal between an inner surface of the metal pipe and an exterior of the plastic pipe by compressing the O-rings. This O-ring seal configuration provides substantially improved low temperature sealing.

  • Patent number: 5937109
Abstract: A hyperacuity printing system includes a halftoner (20) which converts pixel intensity values into multi-bit gray values which drive a laser diode (62). The halftoner (20) includes a halftoner memory (22), a phase error look-up table (50), and a modulator (60). The halftoner memory (22) stores a pregenerated halftone dot pattern as a plurality of halftone dot planes or cells (24), each representing an intensity value. The halftoner memory (22) is addressed by the integer portion of a screen coordinate (x,y) and the intensity value, and outputs spatial coordinates (r, .theta.) to an edge of the halftone dot nearest the screen coordinate. The fractional portion (xFRACT, yFRACT) of the screen coordinate (x,y) is combined with the outputted spatial coordinates (r,.theta.) to provide corrected coordinates (r.sub.c,.theta.). The corrected coordinates (r.sub.c,.theta.) address a modulator drive function (56) which generates the multi-bit gray value used to drive the modulator (60).

  • Patent number: 5933135
Abstract: A pen input system and method is disclosed for identifying a cursor location on a high resolution display. A pen includes a pointer for pointing to a desired point on a display screen for positioning of the cursor. A low resolution locator generally localizes the point to which the pen is pointing at a first location in a host processor, through a cursor control, and positions the cursor at the first location. The pen includes an imager for viewing an image of a portion of the screen including the cursor and the desired point to which the pen is pointing. The host processor can determine a variance between the desired point, which is the center point of the image viewed by the imager in the pen and the actual cursor location. This variance is determined by the processor which then repositions the cursor at the desired point.

  • Patent number: 5932880
Abstract: A scintillator device and an image pickup apparatus using the scintillator, in which the scintillator for converting an input particle or electron beam image into an optical image is applied with a voltage between electrodes formed at the input plane of the electron beam and the output plane of scintillation. This voltage generates an electric field in the scintillator so that scattering of a charged particle beam in the scintillator is prevented and the resolution and S/N ratio can be improved while retaining a large amount of scintillation. Accordingly, the shift amount of low energy charged particle beams from the incident axis, which greatly influences degradation of the resolution and S/N ratio, can be suppressed.

  • Patent number: 5930996
Abstract: In the arm-crowding or track operation, a calculating portion (700d2 or 700d4) calculates a modification gain (KAC or KTR) depending on an operation pilot pressure and a calculating portion (700g) calculates a decrease modification (DND) based on the KAC or KTR, while a calculating portion (700m or 700p) calculates a modification gain (KACH or KTRH) depending on an operation pilot pressure and calculating portions (700q-700s) calculate an increase modification (DNH) based on the KACH or KTRH. A reference target engine revolution speed NR0 is modified using the DND and DNH. In other operations than the arm-crowding and track operations, NR0 is modified using only the decrease modification (DND) calculated from the modification gain just depending on the operation pilot pressure. In the operation where an engine revolution speed is desired to become higher as an actuator load increases, the engine revolution speed can be controlled in accordance with change of the actuator load as well.

  • Patent number: 5931305
Abstract: The present invention provides a powder classifier using a classification rotor capable of classifying powder with high efficiency and high accuracy. The classification rotor is attached to a rotating shaft as a body and rotatably supported in a casing. Within the classification rotor, a cavity is formed from the outer edge to the center and classifying vanes are provided around the circumference. The cavity is bent downwardly near the center with the lower end connected through a fine powder passage to a fine powder outlet. The outer edge of the classification rotor is connected to a coarse powder outlet. After feeding powder from a powder supply port, the powder is rotated by the classifying vanes such that coarse powder particles are taken out from the rough outlet by centrifugal force and fine powder particles are taken out by airflow from the fine powder outlet.
