  • Patent number: 5918527
Abstract: A locus control system of hydraulic excavators whereby a target locus for a front device is set beforehand. A control unit calculates a position and posture of the front device based on signals from angle sensors, and calculates a target speed vector of the front device based on signals from control lever devices. Through this calculation process, the control unit maintains the target speed vector as it is when the front device is not near the target locus, and modifies the target speed vector to a vector pointing to a second point on the target locus advanced in the excavating direction by a second distance from a first point located on the target locus at a minimum distance from a tip of the front device, when the front device is near the target locus.

  • Patent number: 5919023
Abstract: An overhead conveyor is operated at a slower speed within the treatment area or buffer than the speed of a conveyor delivering products to the treatment area or buffer and the speed of a conveyor removing products from the treatment area or buffer. Elongated products are delivered to the treatment area or buffer so that the direction of product elongation corresponds with the conveying direction and are removed from the treatment area or buffer so that the direction of product elongation corresponds with the conveying direction, particularly by being suspended from two carriages of an overhead conveyor system. Within the treatment area or buffer, the two carriages that are serially located or in tandem while traveling on the delivery conveyor and the exit conveyor, are placed on separate parallel conveyors so that the orientation of the elongation direction of the products is perpendicular to the conveying direction within the treatment area or buffer.

  • Patent number: 5920510
Abstract: A semiconductor device and a computer system, incorporating the same, is capable of capturing an external signal at a high speed and stably operating independent of the duty ratio of a clock signal. An external signal ADD is captured into an address latch 22 by a level latch. The level latch is controlled to a through state at the timing in which the external signal is decided and controlled to a latched state in the decision period of the external signal. A pulse generation circuit controls the timing for switching a latch to the through state to a desired timing by a pulse generation circuit 30 in a chip. According to the above structure, the capture of the external signal ADD can be accelerated because the capture of the signal is determined by the setup timing. Moreover, because a latching period is controlled by the pulse generation circuit in the chip, operations are performed in a stable manner without having to depend upon the pulse width of an external clock CLK.

  • Patent number: 5917525
Abstract: The ink cartridge comprises a housing with a housing bottom (11) which has an opening for placement onto a stub feed tube of a print head. At the lower edge the opening (15), there is a radially inward projecting sealing lip (24) which is pressed elastically against a cylindrical element (27) of a transport guard (2). Between the cylindrical element (27) and lip (24), there is formed a capillary sealing gap which expands in the downward direction. An annular recess (36) which narrows toward the recess bottom, and a capillary gap (35) form additional steps of a capillary seal. The air supply opening in the housing lid is also sealed by means of a multi-step capillary seal against the escape of ink. This facilitates economical production.

  • Patent number: 5917999
Abstract: When receiving a write request from a processor, a control unit checks the condition of existence (or the presence/absence) in a cache for information necessary for generation of an updated value of a parity record, receives write data and reports the completion of the write request to the processor. In asynchronism with the write request from the processor, the control unit performs a load process for that information among the information necessary for generation of the updated value of the parity record which may be prepared in asynchronism with the write request from the processor and a write after process for the updated value of the parity record.

  • Patent number: 5915120
Abstract: In an information processing apparatus having a central processing unit, input/output units controlled by the central processing unit such as a liquid crystal display, a hard disk drive, a PCMCIA controller and a floppy disk drive, and a battery for supplying power to the central processing unit and the input/output units, a desired operating time of the information processing apparatus is set in a desired operating time setting circuit. Next, a residual capacity detecting circuit detects a residual capacity of the battery. On the basis of the desired operating time set by the desired operating time setting circuit and an operable time of the information processing apparatus calculated from the residual capacity of the battery detected by the residual capacity detecting circuit, the central processing unit commands an operating condition changing circuit to change operating conditions such that the desired operating time becomes longer than the operable time.

  • Patent number: 5912538
Abstract: A method of amplifying the torque output by an electric torque motor (10) of a system such as a vehicle electronic throttle control system. Upon the formation of ice on and around the throttle plate (T) of an electronic throttle system, the torque output by the torque motor (10) connected to rotate the throttle plate (T) is amplified from a normal operating torque to an amplified torque sufficient to overcome the ice or other obstruction. The method includes applying either a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction torque to the rotor (38) of the torque motor (10) to twist the output shaft (34) connected to the stuck throttle plate (T). The torque applied to the rotor (38) is then reversed so that the other of the clockwise and counter-clockwise direction of torque is applied to the rotor (38). The foregoing torque-application steps are repeated in succession at a select frequency equal to the natural frequency of the mechanical system of which the motor (10) and throttle plate (T) are parts.
