  • Patent number: 5924918
Abstract: Poultry bodies are processed by cutting them up into consumable products. A conveyor (1) having an endless flat link chain (4) has shackles for receiving and advancing the poultry bodies in a suspended position along a conveying path in which are arranged processing tools. An auxiliary conveyor (17) is driven by means of a gear (20) arranged in the area of the processing tool and which meshes with the linear run portion of the main conveyor by means of a gear wheel (21). By providing entrainers at a predetermined spacing between the joints (9) of the chain links (6, 7) the effective pitch of the flat link chain (4) can be at least halved and the auxiliary conveyor (17) can be driven substantially uniformly by a gear wheel (21) of relatively small diameter.

  • Patent number: 5924792
Abstract: A central lighting system for providing light to locations remote from a light source includes first and second ellipsoidally shaped reflectors joined together to surround the light source. The first and second reflectors direct the light from the light source to light guides which are fixed at a position outside of the joined together reflectors. The ellipsoidally shaped reflectors each have an opening or window along an optical axis through which the reflected light passes to the light guides. The configuration of the reflectors allows the light the be received by the light guides outside of the reflectors. A base secures the light source in a fixed position with respect to the reflectors and allows the light source and reflector module to be removed and replaced as a single unit without repositioning the light guides.

  • Patent number: 5923485
Abstract: A time counting device, a cache memory and a copy control circuit are added to a conventional disk drive so that recorded information is copied periodically and automatically. Alternatively, a cache memory, a copy control circuit, a reference control circuit, a first time counting device and a second time counting device are added to the conventional disk drive so that information which remains recorded for a predetermined period of time after its last recording date is automatically copied. According to another embodiment, a reference signal is recorded in advance and a reproduced output is periodically measured. If the reproduced output is lower than a reference value, recorded information is automatically copied. According to yet another embodiment, the temperature in the disk drive is measured by a thermometer 18, and if the temperature is higher than a reference value, information is automatically copied at shorter intervals than when the temperature is less than the reference value.

  • Patent number: 5921878
Abstract: A unidirectional roller chain sprocket for use primarily in automotive engine chain drive applications which incorporates an asymmetrical tooth for improved noise reduction. The asymmetrical tooth profile incorporates a flank flat which is tangent to an engaging flank radius and a first root radius. The asymmetrical tooth profile also incorporates one or more inclined root surfaces which provide tooth space clearance for maintaining the chain rollers in hard contact with the root surface in the sprocket wrap. The asymmetrical tooth profile further incorporates pitch mismatch wherein the sprocket chordal pitch is less than the chain chordal pitch to facilitate a "staged" roller-tooth contact as a roller moves into full mesh from an initial tangential impact at the flank flat.

  • Patent number: 5923432
Abstract: A cleaning efficacy indicator system (20) includes a light source (50) and a light receiver (56). A light-transmitting optical indicator element (30) receives light from the source (50) and transmits the light to the receiver (56). The receiver (56) provides at an electrical output signal (82) which varies in accordance with light received from the light source (50). The light-transmitting optical indicator element (30) is purposefully soiled on its outer surface (48) with a soiling agent to inhibit or alter its light transmitting abilities. However, upon effective washing, the indicator element (30) is able to transmit an increased light intensity. The indicator element (30) is washed with a load of soiled articles. Either during washing operations or subsequently, the light transmission through the indicator element (30) is monitored using the light output signal (82) of the light receiver (56). A select change in light transmission is indicative of effective washing operations.

  • Patent number: 5923548
Abstract: An active clamp used to maintain proper current transformer operation in a resonant transition converter circuit or any circuit having a wide range of reverse current present in a current transformer primary at the beginning of a power pulse. The active clamp is connected directly to a secondary of the current transformer and is placed in an active state for the duration of the "on" time of a switch associated with a particular current transformer. A diode, FET combination of the active clamp provides a path for current to flow when primary current is reversed or negative flow. Thereby only small amounts of voltage, and thus volt-seconds will be developed on the transformer during reverse primary current, in turn keeping the current transformer out of reverse saturation. A resistive-capacitive network allows the active clamp to use the circuit drive signal to place the active clamp in an on state.

  • Patent number: 5923522
Abstract: A capacitive switch assembly includes an elastomeric sheet actuator for elastically supporting a switching member above a capacitive element comprised of a pair of conductive plates and a dielectric sheet. The elastomeric sheet supports the switching member so that upon user actuation to compress the elastomeric sheet, the switching member is directed to engage the capacitive element and selectively compress to effectively form a variable capacitor. Resilient deformation of the switching member can further vary the capacitance of the capacitor in an electrically detectable manner.

  • Patent number: 5923189
Abstract: For the relation between the first and second pass-transistor circuits (PT1, PT2), the output signal of the preceding-stage is supplied to the gate of the succeeding-stage, and for the relation between the second and third pass-transistor circuits (PT2, PT3), the output signal of the preceding-stage is supplied to the source-drain path of the succeeding-stage. The first pass-transistor circuit (PT1) receives on its first input node (In1) and second input node (In2) the first input signal and the second input signal that are logically independent from each other. This logic circuit requires a smaller number of transistors and is capable of reducing the power consumption and delay and accomplishing an intricate logic function.

  • Patent number: 5923169
Abstract: A magnetic resonance imaging suite is sheathed with plates (32, 34, 36) of iron or other ferrous material. The plates define projections (42, 44, 54, 54', 68) in alignment with each other on opposite ceiling and floor or wall surfaces. A pair of magnetic pole pieces (10, 10'; 50, 50'; 60, 60') are surrounded by superconducting electromagnetic coils (12, 12'; 52, 52'; 62, 62'). The pole pieces are positioned between the ferrous plates in axial alignment. When current flows through the electromagnetic coils, magnetic flux flows between the pole pieces. The ferrous wall sheathing or other ferrous constructions define a flux return path. The pole pieces are magnetically attracted toward each other and are each magnetically mirrored in and attracted toward the adjacent ferrous flux return path.

  • Patent number: 5921165
Abstract: In a hydraulic control system including a valve device B for controlling a hydraulic fluid supplied from a hydraulic pump A to a hydraulic cylinder C, the valve device comprises a spool 16 slidably fitted into a valve body 1, and a non-leak valve 27 for controlling communication of an actuator passage 19. The non-leak valve comprises a main valve section 40 including a seat valve 41 provided in the valve body, and a pilot control section 60 including a pilot poppet valve 61 provided in an end cover 31. The seat valve is controlled in proportion to an opening of the pilot poppet valve, and a relief valve 55 for preventing the hydraulic cylinder from being subject to an overload is built in the seat valve.
