  • Patent number: 4509309
Abstract: A load orienting receptacle for a carton loading machine for use in loading lightbulbs into an open end of a carton. The receptacle has a trough in which a slipway extends to an open discharge end. The slipway has an open upper end for admitting a lightbulb to a load orienting portion thereof spaced inwardly from the discharge end. The load orienting portion has opposite sides which converge downwardly to form a downwardly directed laterally inclined chute. The opposite sides are spaced from one another a sufficient distance to support the bulbous end of a light bulb above the bottom of the trough while permitting the narrow end thereof to be laterally deflected as it passes downwardly along the chute to come to rest in the trough thereby to laterally offset the narrow end with respect to the bulbous end of the bulb prior to discharge through the open discharge end of the trough.

  • Patent number: 4509961
Abstract: In known air filter assemblies, a mechanism provided for vacuum cleaning of the filter has been located entirely on the upstream side of the filter. In the present filter assembly the vacuum head is mounted on a carriage which is located on the upstream side of the frame which supports the filter and a major portion of the drive mechanism which drives the carriage relative to the filter frame is located on the downstream side of the filter frame. This arrangement serves to reduce the likelihood of contamination of the drive mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4507018
Abstract: A wave making machine for substantially unidirectional wave making on a water surface comprises at least one support scow, a plunger supported by each scow by means of a linkage which limits the movement of the plunger to substantially vertical movement and a drive mechanism for driving the plunger between a raised position and a lowered position. The plunger has a front face at least a portion of which is upwardly and forwardly inclined and a back face which is substantially vertically oriented whereby upon periodic motion waves are generated at the front face and substantially no waves are generated at the back face of the plunger. A plurality of scows, each supporting a wave making plunger, may be connected in a side by side relationship to form a laterally elongated wave making mechanism. The scrows are connected by movable linkage mechanisms which permit independent movement of each adjacent scow.

  • Patent number: 4506664
Abstract: A spineboard for immobilizing a prostrate patient comprises a body supporting board having a body restraint harness which consists of two lengths of flexible material each having a proximal end retained on the board at or adjacent the center of the width thereof. Each length of the harness has a sufficient extent to extend from the proximal end in a first direction around to the body of the patient to be secured to the board adjacent a side edge of the board remote from the proximal end. The body restraint harness is slidably mounted on the board so as to be positionable at any required point along the length of the patient. The body restraint harness also includes a shoulder harness and a head harness for immobilizing the patient. To facilitate the mounting and release of the distal end of each length of the harness, the side edges of the board are formed with a mounting edge over which hooks located at the end of the harness may hook.

  • Patent number: 4505066
Abstract: A housing, which is particularly suitable as an indoor greenhouse, is provided. The housing comprises a frame which has a base with a lower surface, and a plurality of elongated parallel support members. The support members are connected to the base so as to extend therefrom perpendicular to the lower surface, and perpendicularly through respective alternate apices of a first, substantially regular polygon. The frame also has a top which is connected between a top end of each of the support members. The housing also comprises connecting means attached to the frame for connecting a pair of rectangular doors to it so that each is movable between an open and a closed position. The connecting means also connects the doors to the frame so that the pair extend between the base, the top, and a pair of adjacent support members, and perpendicularly through respective adjacent sides of the first polygon, when both doors are in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 4505249
Abstract: A fuel control system for use in supplying gaseous fuel from a high pressure source to an internal combustion engine which has an air/fuel intake through which air and gaseous fuel is supplied to the engine and an air/fuel intake manifold in which variations in the vacuum are indicative of engine loading conditions. The system comprises; a pressure regulator, a flow control valve, a control for measuring the speed of the engine, a modulator for modulating the fuel supply and a pressure control device communicating with said pressure regulator to increase or decrease the pressure in the gaseous fuel output in response to the receipt of a signal from the modulator. The pressure regulator receives pressurized gaseous fuel from the source and serves to maintain a constant pressure in the discharging fuel for a given engine speed regardless of flow rate and to increase or decrease the pressure in the discharging gaseous fuel in response to an increase or decrease in engine speed.
