  • Patent number: 4585388
Abstract: A self relocating manipulator assembly which is movable so as to be secured to any one of a number of fixtures which are spaced from one another on a support structure. The manipulator assembly comprises, a boom which has first and second end effectors each adapted to releasably secured to any one of the fixtures. First and second articulators are provided which serve to mount the first and second end effectors at first and second ends of the boom respectively. The first and second articulators provide a sufficient degree of movement between the end effectors and the boom to allow one end effector to be moved toward and away from one of said fixtures while the other end effector remains mounted on one of said fixtures. A power transmission system is associated with each articulator for articulating the boom with respect to either end effector whereby the manipulator assembly may relocate itself by sequentially securing and releasing one of the end effectors and then the other with respect to said fixtures.

  • Patent number: 4577369
Abstract: A de-boning machine comprises a pair of dies which are adapted to close around a meat portion in which a bone is located such that the meat is displaced laterally from the bone in response to closing of the dies while the bone remains in tact. The dies preferably have opposite disposed de-boning faces in which a bone locating recess is formed. To reduce the likelihood of damage to the bone resulting from closing of the dies, the bone receiving recess is filled with a resiliently deformable material such as a food grade rubber. In order to separate the meat which has been laterally displaced from the bone, a cutter is provided laterally outwardly from the bone receiving recess, the cutter being operable upon final closing of the dies.

  • Patent number: 4566927
Abstract: A method and apparatus for high speed pouch or bag making from thin, heat-sensitive thermoplastic film webs or multiply webs of paper, film and foil in which the seal pattern may be simple or complex sealing and in which the method is applied to a continuously moving web and sealing is achieved at temperatures below the softening temperatures of the film or the sealing interfaces. A method of forming an open pouch comprising the steps of continuously driving an elongated web of pouch forming material at a constant speed along a pouch making path which extends continuously through a web coating station, a web collating station, an E.B. curing station and a web cutting station. A pattern of a coating is applied to a first surface of a first continuous web of pouch forming material as it is driven continuously through the web coating station to render the interface bondable at a seal line and non-bondable in the area of the storage compartment when subjected to electron beam radiation.

  • Patent number: 4561202
Abstract: An ornament has a frame. There is a central fixed disc attached to the frame and a picture of the central fixed disc. An annulus surrounds the central fixed disc and is rotatably mounted in the frame. A magnet is positioned in the annulus. Weighted figures are mounted on the rotatable annulus. The figures bear a relationship to the picture on the central fixed disc. A magnet can rotate the annulus by magnetic effect on the magnet in the annulus so that the weighted figures rise and fall as the annulus rotates to change the displayed scene.

  • Patent number: 4555207
Abstract: A torque transmitting mating component for a mating assembly which, during assembly, provides at least one degree of freedom of movement selected from radial, axial and angular movement comprises an outer member, an inner member and torque transmitting elements located between the outer and inner members. The outer member has a chamber extending inwardly from one end thereof which has a polygon-shaped cross-sectional configuration. The inner member is located within the chamber of said outer member and has external side faces which are arranged to provide a polygon-shaped cross-sectional configuration corresponding to that of the chamber. The inner member is substantially smaller than the opening and the outer member so as to provide a clearance gap between the side walls and the external side faces.

  • Patent number: 4549476
Abstract: A meat support for supporting sausage in a smokehouse has a rotor mounted for rotation upon a support vehicle. The rotor has a plurality of horizontally extending pockets formed therein, each of which is proportioned to receive and support a sausage with its longitudinal axis horizontally oriented. The rotor is driven about its longitudinal axis such that the sausages which are located in the pockets of the rotor are caused to rotate about their own longitudinal axis. This rotation of the sausages when horizontally oriented serves to reduce moisture losses and to maintain a uniform moisture distribution throughout the sausage while it is cooked.

  • Patent number: 4541397
Abstract: In a gaseous fuel carburetion system in which air and gaseous fuel are mixed in a mixer prior to induction into an internal combustion engine, and in which the rate of flow of the induction air is controlled by throttling the intake of the air/fuel mixture, and in which gaseous fuel is supplied to the system from a pressurized source, an improved method and apparatus for regulating the supply of gaseous fuel to the air/fuel mixer is provided. The method comprises the steps of; sensing at least one operating parameter of the engine which is a function of the induction air flow rate and generating a control signal which varies in response to changes in the induction air flow rate, controlling the rate of flow of the gaseous fuel from the source to the mixer by means of said control signal whereby the rate of flow of the gaseous fuel varies in response to the sensed changes in the parameters related to the air flow rate.

  • Patent number: 4540329
Abstract: A safety locking mechanism for locking a hoist, such as a power operated tailgate, with repect to its supporting structure comprises: a pair of latch arms which are connected to one another by a flexible cable. A pair of power transmission chains connect the hoist to a power source. A pair of tension sensing lever arms are pivotally mounted and arranged to detect the presence or absence of a normal loading tension in the power transmission chains. The flexible cable also engages each of the tension sensing levers and is held by them in a position in which it retains the latch arms in a released position when a normal loading tension is detected in the power transmission chains. The latch arms will both move to a latching position locking the hoist when the absence of a normal loading tension is detected in the power transmission chains.
