    Abstract: The present invention is related to a composition comprising a cementitious material and a hydrocarbyloxyalkyleneoxyalkylenecarboxylic acid or a salt thereof. In one embodiment, the hydrocarbyloxyalkyleneoxyalkylenecarboxylic acid or salt thereof may be represented by the formula:(R.sup.1 O(R.sup.2 O).sub.n (CH.sub.2).sub.y CO.sub.2).sub.x Mwherein R.sup.1 is a hydrocarbyl group, R.sup.2 is an alkylene group, n is at least 1, y is at least 1, M is hydrogen, or a metal cation, and x is the valence of M. A cured cementitious structure comprising the composition and optionally a gas is also disclosed. The cementitious structures exhibit increased freeze-thaw stability.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a composition comprising a mixture of a brine and a liquid hydrocarbon, and (A) a viscosity increasing amount of at least one ester of a carboxy-containing interpolymer or salt thereof wherein the interpolymer is prepared by polymerizing an olefin selected from the group consisting of alpha-olefins and vinyl aromatic monomers with at least one alpha, beta-unsaturated carboxylic acylating agent, and provided that when the olefin is vinyl toluene, then the alpha, beta-unsaturated carboxylic acylating agent is an alpha, beta-unsaturated dicarboxylic acylating agent. The compositions of the present invention are useful as drilling fluids as well as completion fluids. The esters of the carboxy-containing interpolymer or salts thereof provide beneficial viscosity, formation stabilization, emulsification and rheology properties to the fluids.

Sintered shapes made from the methods of the present invention have relatively high fired densities and small uniform grain sizes; and low porosity. The reaction products of the present invention help disperse the inorganic powder.
