  • Patent number: 4479566
Abstract: A stopper for a caster which has a push-button slidably inserted into a mounting hole radially perforated at a frame for journaling wheels, and a stopper rotor so mounted rotatably in parallel with an axle at the push-button as to be elastically urged by a spring in an outward direction and for stoppers formed at the ends thereof on the peripheries of the wheels. An actuator is formed at the stopper rotor, and a cam groove is formed in the mounting hole of the push-button for stepwisely engaging the actuator by the pressing operation of the push-button and the recoiling operation of the spring. Thus, the wheels can be readily locked and unlocked effectively with only one push-button repeatedly operated in pressing the push-button.

  • Patent number: 4468065
Abstract: A tail gate opening/closing device for a dump truck in which bracket means are affixed at the upper rear ends of both side walls in the rear part of the carrier section. One end part of a bracket arm is pivotally arranged at each of the ends of the bracket means and each of the other ends is pivotally fastened to the end of a tail gate arm. When material transported such as sand, soil, gravel, etc. is dumped, the carrier section is raised to an angle with the ground causing the material transported to exert pressure on the tail gate so as to open the tail gate in a rearward direction and, at the same time both the bracket arm and the tail gate arm are rotated upwards and the fulcrum of the tail gate arm is also moved upwards. In this way, the tail gate is opened smoothly and the discharge port is opened to the widest extent possible.

  • Patent number: 4432807
Abstract: A method of exfoliating the coating of a coated optical fiber is described. A crack in the coating layer of the optical fiber is produced by bending means, cleaving the coating into a plurality of cleaved strip pieces while longitudinally enlarging the crack, and then cutting the strip pieces with an advantageous exfoliating tool. The exfoliating tool thus used is constructed to conveniently cleave the coating layer of the optical fiber and to cut the cleaved strip pieces. It does not damage the optical fiber upon exfoliating of the coating layer from the coated optical fiber, and can efficiently exfoliate the coating of the optical fiber.

  • Patent number: 4429542
Abstract: A method of freezing fertilized ova, spermatozoa or the like which has the steps of containing fertilized ova, spermatozoa or the like in a buffer solution at an irregular position in a tube, and cooling the same so that a buffer solution contained in an area containing no fertilized ova, spermatozoa or the like become lower in temperature than the buffer solution containing the fertilized ova, spermatozoa or the like with a desired refrigerant to freeze the second buffer solution to produce crystalline nuclei, and then cooling the nuclei so that the nuclei grow to the first buffer solution. And, an apparatus for freezing fertilized ova, spermatozoa or the like which can carry out the above method. Thus, the survival rate of the fertilized ova, spermatozoa or the like can be raised, and the fertilized ova, spermatozoa or the like can be readily frozen under an automatic control by simple cooling means.

  • Patent number: 4427240
Abstract: An endless ball bearing arrangement for relative longitudinal movement between a table having a longitudinal edge portion and a longitudinal side portion, one of said edge or side portions is movable with respect to the other portion. The arrangement consists of a pair of elongated straight metal block bearing bodies located in one of said longitudinal portions facing the opposite longitudinal portion. The front part of these bearing bodies has a W-shaped cross section laying on its side. The outer arms of the W-shape extend towards the top and bottom of the bearing bodies with the center of the W-shape pointing towards the back of the bearing bodies. A pair of bearing first races in the bearing bodies extend parallel at the junction of the arms of the W-shape and the center part, across the length of the bearing bodies. These are the races for the loaded balls. Second races for unloaded balls parallel to the first races are disposed away from said first races in the bearing bodies.
