    Abstract: A radiation image read-out apparatus comprises a system for scanning a stimulable phosphor sheet carrying a radiation image stored thereon with stimulating rays in a main scanning direction, a system for moving the stimulable phosphor sheet with respect to the stimulating rays in a sub-scanning direction, and a photodetector for detecting light emitted by the stimulable phosphor sheet when it is exposed to stimulating rays. A stored energy signal output device receives information on the level of radiation energy stored on the stimulable phosphor sheet, and generates a signal corresponding to the information. The radiation dose at image recording is used to provide the information on the level of stored energy. A stimulation energy adjuster receives the signal generated by the stored energy signal output device, and adjusts the level of stimulation energy of stimulating rays per unit area of the stimulable phosphor sheet based on the signal.

    Abstract: In an injection mold for molding an article having an undercut at at least one end portion, the movable mold half has a slide core which defines the inner surfaces of the end portion and the undercut, and a main body which defines the inner surface of the other portion of the article. The slide core is divided, at the portion defining the inner surfaces of the end portion and the undercut, into a plurality of pieces in the direction perpendicular to both the ejecting direction and the direction in which the slide core is moved in perpendicular to the ejecting direction when the molded article is ejected from the mold. At least one of the pieces is adapted to be slid along an inclined surface which is at an angle to the ejecting direction larger than the angle at which the inclined surface or surfaces for the other piece or pieces are to the ejecting direction.

    Abstract: A heater unit and control circuitry therefor, the heater unit typically being employed as a preheater or primary heater for the installation and removal of electronic components from a PCB or the like and having various means for accommodating (a) an uneven surface or the presence of other components on the underside of the board or (b) an unlevel board. Moreover, a heater unit for sequentially providing preheat and primary heat from different zones of the heater is disclosed. A probe for use with the heater for sensing the temperature at various points on the board is also disclosed. The circuitry is characterized by ease of calibration of the heater temperature, the temperature transducing circuits, and the temperature setting circuits thereof. Moreover, circuitry is provided to insure the same voltage out of each input source in response to the input source measuring or setting a common temperature.

    Abstract: A four-wheel steering system has a front wheel turning mechanism for turning front wheels in response to operation of a steering wheel, a rear wheel turning mechanism for turning rear wheels, a controller for controlling the rear wheel turning mechanism to turn the rear wheels according to preset four-wheel steering characteristics and a relay shaft which is connected to the controller to transmit turning of the front wheels to the controller. The front wheel turning mechanism and the rear wheel turning mechanism are caused to bring the front wheels and the rear wheels to the respective straight-ahead positions while the relay shaft is disconnected from the controller. Then the controller is brought into the state corresponding to the straight-ahead positions of the front and rear wheels on the basis of the preset four-wheel steering characteristics. Thereafter, the relay shaft is connected to the controller.

    Abstract: An improved liquid crystal device is described such as a display. The device comprises a pair of substrates, a liquid crystal layer, an electrode arrangement, and a ferroelectric film. The ferroelectric film is formed on the inside of the substrate by spining method using a mixture of a ferroelectric material and an organic resin. When coating, the mixture is diluted with a solvent so that the ferroelectric film can be formed as a thin film. In advance of curring, the ferroelectric film is subjected to an electric field and its dipole moment is aligned and fixed in a direction perpendicular to the substrate. In virtue of the dipole moment, the liquid crystal device can be controlled by applying a voltage in one direction with a high stability.

The apparatus further includes an optical filter for cutting off light which has a wavelength in the wavelength region of the stimulating energy. The stimulating system includes a deflecting element for deflecting the stimulating energy towards the two-dimensional sensor.

The detection range of the photodetector for the emitted light is adjusted to a range substantially wider than an expected light emission range. The image signals obtained with the detection range by the photodetector is stored in a storage device, and sent to a histogram analysis device for creating a histogram of the image signals and analyzing image input information on the stimulable phosphor sheet based on the histogram.

    Abstract: A ball valve is provided with a blocking mechanism which automatically blocks its control shaft in its respective rotary position between a closure position and an open position when the control movement takes place too rapidly. The blocking mechanism responds to the respective rotary position of an annular inertia body which is rotatably mounted on the ball valve housing and the rotary movement of which effected by spring action is initiated by the rotation of the control shaft and is retarded by its inertia. On adequately slow actuation of the control shaft the blocking mechanism does not become operative. When the actuation is too rapid and could lead to potentially damaging high pressure peaks the control shaft is blocked by the blocking mechanism.

An autograph is obtained having locational information on groups of radioactively labeled cleavage products contained in the rows on the support medium. An electrical digital signal corresponding to the autoradiograph is then generated by recording and reproducing from a stimulable phosphor sheet the radiation energy stored therein. Sampling points in each resolved row of the digital signal are next detected. Reference sampling points are then determined in a plurality of reference rows which are either directly provided on the support medium and/or synthesized from certain resolved rows.
