  • Patent number: 4850030
Abstract: In the radio communication system for performing a communication in the idle channel selected from a plurality of frequency channels, the originating call station transmits the station identification code to specify the distant station together with the idle channel data to be actually communicated, and the distant station designated by the station identification code shifts to the designated idle channel, and the communication is executed between two stations. During communication in a certain channel between two stations, in the case where a radio interference occurs in this channel and it is intended to shift to other channel, one station transmits the other channel data in the communication channel and the other station receives it, and the communication is continued each other in the other channel.

  • Patent number: 4847497
Abstract: Two-dimensional image sensors in the form of stimulable phosphor sheets or thermoluminescent phosphor sheets are supplied from a sensor supply unit to a recorder and exposed, one at a time, in the recorder to an electron beam transmitted through a specimen in an electron microscope, thereby storing the energy of the electron beam carrying a magnified specimen image. The two-dimensional image sensors each storing the electron beam energy are thereafter scanned by stimulating energy, emitting light indicating the stored electron beam energy. The emitted light is converted to an electric signal for display, printing, or temporary storage. Photographic films can also be supplied from a film supply unit to the recorder and exposed to the electron beam. The exposed photographic films are thereafter developed by a known process to reproduce the specimen images thereon.

  • Patent number: 4846558
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal device involves the forming of a plurality of non-linear devices on a surface of a first substrate in an array and an insulating layer is formed overlying the non-linear devices. In order to minimize the formation of fissures in electrodes which are to be formed in contact with the upper surfaces of the respective non-linear devices arranged in a line and insulated from side surfaces of these devices through the insulating layer, the part of the insulating layer that is parallel to the surface of the substrate is removed by etching in a manner leaving only portions of the insulating layer that extend along the side surface of the device normal to the surface of the first substrate. The method also serves to prevent the effective area of a pixel defined by the electrode from being decreased by the insulating layer.

  • Patent number: 4838650
Abstract: The present invention provides a rear view mirror for a motor vehicle which is automatically adjustable to prevent the effects of dazzle e.g. by a vehicle approaching from behind at night. The mirror comprises an adjustable mirror surface (2) housed in a casing (3) and connected in an adjustable manner to an actuator (8) which engages an annular cam formation (26) having various cam profile heights whereby the mirror surface (2) can be adjusted by tilting. The cam formation (26) is part of a toothed wheel (11) driven by a small electric motor (21) the control circuit of which is actuated by a photosensor (38) so that mirror tilting is dependent on light intensity thresholds. The arrangement enables the various mirror adjustments to be achieved using uni-directional rotation of the motor and the toothed wheel (11) and this has the advantage of providing more reliable operation with less noise. The present adjusting mirror is also relatively inexpensive to manufacture.
