  • Patent number: 4921362
Abstract: The present invention provides a bearing assembly for use in a display assembly having a plurality of louvers which rotate in synchronism with each other and, in doing, displays different advertising messages. The bearing assembly includes a housing having an axis and a shaft extending axially through the housing. A pair of axially spaced bearings rotatably mount the shaft to the housing. A pair of collars are secured to the shaft so that the bearings are contained in between the collars while a Belleville washer is sandwiched between one collar and one bearing and exerts a compressive force on the bearings and a tension force on the shaft in order to compensate for bearing wear and manufacturing tolerances. A seal is secured to and rotates with the shaft. The seal includes an outer annular lip which extends over one end of the bearing housing to prevent contaminants from entering the bearing housing.

  • Patent number: 4917212
Abstract: A speaker is installed on a door panel of an automobile by utilizing a supporting unit including a base and a substantially disc-shaped spacer. The base is attached to the door panel and has a bottom surface inclined with respect to the door panel. The speaker is secured to the inclined bottom surface of the base by an attachment screw, between which the spacer is interposed. The spacer has an inclined surface adapted to be in contact with the inclined bottom surface of the base. The spacer is provided with a half-round groove through which a screw extends to secure the spacer to the base at a desired position relative to the latter within an range of 180.degree. rotation. The inclination of the base is amplified or counterbalanced by the inclination of the spacer in dependence with relative position therebetween to vary the orientation of the speaker supported on the opposite surface of the spacer.

  • Patent number: 4902956
Abstract: A safety device is wired in series with selected accessories in a wiring circuit for a vehicle. The safety device of the present invention determines the state of charge of the battery as a function of the rate of discharge of the battery. When the state of charge falls below preset values, the device activates a switch which disconnects the battery from the vehicle wiring circuit in order to save sufficient energy for engine ignition. In another embodiment, a programmed microprocessor activates electronic switches to sequentially disconnect banks of accessories from the battery.
