  • Patent number: 7207336
Abstract: A compression device for use in helping a woman breastfeed an infant. The device has opposed fingers which are movable towards and apart from each other. Just prior to nursing, compression device is placed over the breast centered on the nipple. The compression device compresses the breast tissue between the opposed fingers to form more of a V-shaped wedge for the mouth of the infant to latch onto. Once the infant has successfully latched onto the breast and nursing is initiated the fingers may be moved apart and compression device removed.

  • Patent number: 7191854
Abstract: A modular drive unit for a gurney including a control/handle module, a cord reel/charger module, a drive module, and a chassis assembly, plus all needed electrical wiring harnesses and pneumatic tubing to connect them. The modules mount to any existing gurney and to each other without making permanent modifications to the gurney. The gurney is controlled by a handle assembly containing all necessary controls and indicators to allow the operator to select forward or reverse direction, increase or reduce speed of travel, observe the state of battery charge, and energize or deenergize power from the various modules. In addition, the handle may be swung down through 180 degrees to facilitate loading and unloading the gurney.

  • Patent number: 7125385
Abstract: An instrument for measuring the size of a testis has a pair of relatively displaceable jaws with testis contacting surfaces. The spacing between the jaws is displayed on a scale calibrated to a recommenced dose of a chemical sterilant at a given concentration for the testis measured for sterilizing a male animal having scrotal testes. The instrument is used to determine the appropriate dose to be administered the animal, each testis of which should be independently measured as the size of the testicles may different in the same animal.

  • Patent number: 7051839
Abstract: A device for providing three dimensional camouflage to a hunter's ladder stand having a seat, footrest, side rails and a plurality of rungs. The device has a hollow plastic tube with a split and holes through which a plurality of stalks of artificial vegetation are inserted. The split is in the form a groove or has notches so that when the tube is attached to a rail of a ladder stand, the tube does not interfere with the rungs.

  • Patent number: 7044448
Abstract: A railing system for porches, decks, steps, ramps and the like having a top and bottom rail formed of wood containing a wood preservative that is corrosive to aluminum, aluminum alloys and the like. The system has hollow metal balusters formed of metals which may be harmed by the corrosive effects of the wood preservative. The metal balusters are protected from the corrosive effects of the wood preservative by inert fixtures interposed between the wooden components of the railing system and the metal of the balusters. The fixtures may be joined by runners that simplify installation of the railing system.

  • Patent number: 7046918
Abstract: A space heater with a linear source of infrared radiant energy in heat exchange relationship with a heat exchanger formed of copper or aluminum material. The copper is pretreated to soften the copper and partially blacken the surface thereof. The aluminum is anodized and electrolytically colored dark. The space heater is thermally more efficient than a comparable space heater wherein the copper or aluminum has not been pretreated. The linear source of infrared radiant energy and heat exchanger are mounted in a heater core that is thermally insulated by an air jacket from an exterior case.

  • Patent number: 6971290
Abstract: An adjustable extension for driving tools has a telescoping body. The telescoping body has an outer member which may be driven by a conventional driver, such as a ratchet handle or by a powered driver. The outer member drives a longitudinally extending inner member which is telescoped within the outer member. The inner and outer members have detents or a rack and pawl to firmly position the members at the desired length. The inner and outer members may be spaced to prevent binding of the elements when subjected to heavy torque loads and have stops to limit the telescoping movement of the elements.

  • Patent number: 6970574
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring hand washing or application of a disinfectant wherein a pattern recognition algorithm executed in a computer compares one or more digitized images of a person going through hand washing or disinfectant application motions with a reference set of images and creates a pass/fail report. The digitized image may be taken by a video camera and color quantified to reduce the amount of computing power required before clusters of pixels with similar color classifications are determined and shapes identified.

  • Patent number: 6945376
Abstract: A mechanism to retrofit modern motorcycles with a foot operated clutch or to be installed as original equipment is disclosed. The mechanism has an escapement mechanism, such as a pawl and ratchet, for holding the clutch in disengaged condition when a rider applies positive pressure on a foot pedal without requiring the rider to hold the foot pedal down with his or her left foot. This frees the rider to balance the motorcycle. The mechanism then allows the clutch to be readily reengaged when the rider desires to move the motorcycle by applying further positive pressure to the foot pedal.

  • Patent number: 6941681
Abstract: A warming device for use in cold environments has a flexible pocket with at least one triangular side gusset for receiving a shoe or boot. The warming device has a receiver for receiving a heat generating packet or fuel stick heating device. The warming device may be firmly attached to a shoe or boot by constricting laces, cords or straps so that the gusset is pleated into loose folds along the side of the boot or shoe with heat generating packet or fuel stick heating device pressed substantially flat against the wearer's instep. The sole of the warming device may be modified to provide an anti-slip surface, for example, by installing studs in the sole. The sole of the warming device may be modified to adapt to specialized shoes or boots, such as ice skates.

  • Patent number: 6932105
Abstract: A system and kit for forming an inexpensive protective plenum around pipes subject to freezing is disclosed. The system uses tubes formed of thin, flexible material, such as plastic tubes, to form the plenum. The plenum may be installed in sections with the sections joined with rings or collars at the joints. The rings and collars may also be formed of inexpensive materials, such as plastics. The tubes of the plenum may be formed from plastic sheets by joining the sheets at opposite edges to form seamed tubes. The edges may be joined by tapes or adhesives. The tubes may be formed around existing piping for ease of retrofit installation. The plenum may be connected to a source of hot air, such as the duct work of the hot air heating system of a dwelling.
