  • Patent number: 5741091
Abstract: A shoring device for supporting trench side walls during construction. The shoring device has opposite shoring shields having conventionally located spreaders adjacent the upper edge of the shields and a second pair of spreaders disposed at an upper location. A pair of auxiliary spreaders are associated with the shield assembly. Each auxiliary spreader member consists of a structural member having connectors at opposite ends which are detachably securable to the interior walls of the shields at a location below the horizontal center line of the shields to substantially increase the shield capacity. The auxiliary spreaders would be used primarily when the maximum pipe clearance is not required to achieve a greater load factor.

  • Patent number: 5727871
Abstract: A fluorescent light fixture or luminaire having a housing which has hinge assemblies which pivotally support a mounting plate. The hinge assembly allows the mounting plate on which the lamps and ballasts are mounted to be pivoted to a generally vertical service position or latched in a horizontal use position within the housing. A selected number of lamp sockets can be selectively secured to the plate to receive the lamps. Reflectors and lamp stand-offs may be secured to the mounting plate at bendable tabs formed in the mounting plate. The light fixture is adapted for use with standard or high efficiency compact lamps.

  • Patent number: 5720664
Abstract: A practice targeting and shooting system having a laser emitter and a light detector which is attachable to a shotgun. Reusable, reflective disc-like targets are launched by a thrower. The shooter arms the shotgun and actuates the emitter. If a predetermined portion of the light beam strikes the target, it is reflected and sensed by the detector which registers a "hit" by a suitable audible and/or visual signal.

  • Patent number: 5704674
Abstract: A tool, such as an electromagnetic pick-up tool, having a housing with a compartment which contains a power supply. The housing receives an elongate wand which carries a light or magnet and which is electrically connected to the power supply at terminal posts within the housing. The wand is retained from rotation by an anti-rotation lug or by projections which pinch the wand. The invention may also be used to couple other electro-mechanical components.

  • Patent number: 5647060
Abstract: A face shield assembly to protect the wearer from contaminants and airborne particles. The shield assembly includes a visor having a head-engaging band and a forwardly extending bill portion which, in the preferred embodiment, defines a light passing area which in the preferred form of the invention comprises a plurality of apertures. The band carries attachment means in the form of outwardly extending studs which engage arcuate slots and apertures in the transparent shield. The transparent shield is fabricated from a flexible plastic and in a use-position is spaced from the face of the wearer and extends above and below the visor for protection. The attachment means allow the visor to be pivoted upwardly to an out-of-the-way position when the headband is in place on the wearers head. The apertures also permit air circulation for the comfort of the wearer and to minimize fogging of the shield.
