  • Patent number: 5921580
Abstract: A coupling assembly for a fluid circuit such as an irrigation system which facilitates removal of a valve or other component. The assembly includes a riser which is threaded at opposite ends with one end of the riser being engageable in the valve and the opposite end engageable in the internally threaded end of an adaptor. The opposite end of the adaptor is secured to a line in the fluid circuit. The coupling assembly may be disassembled by rotating the riser to retract it with the adaptor causing it to disengage from the valve or other component so the component may be removed and replaced with ease. The fluid circuit is re-established by oppositely rotating the riser to cause it to extend from the adaptor to bring it into fluid tight engagement with the valve or other component.

  • Patent number: 5915852
Abstract: A marker for placement adjacent an evidence item at a crime scene having upstanding panels connected to form a freestanding unit. A base panel extends from the lower edge of the upstanding panels and is imprinted with reference indicia such as suitable scales and a photographic target. The base panel may have a cut-out so the item of evidence may be positioned within the cut-out for better reference. The surfaces of the panels carry indicia such as numbers or letters for identification. The markers may be placed on a horizontal surface or suspended by use of a fastener from a vertical surface. The markers are provided to law enforcement personnel in kits containing multiple sequentially imprinted markers which are nestable and stackable.

  • Patent number: 5911849
Abstract: A linerless label system which utilizes a substrate provided in roll form and which is printed on one side with an image overcoated with an adhesive. The opposite surface of the substrate has release characteristics. The web is fed across the surface of an anvil plate. A die engages the anvil plate, cuts the label from the web which label is then transferred to the surface of an item to be labeled, such as a plastic container. Intermittently, a wiper blade sweeps across the surface of the die to prevent the labels from sticking to the die edge. Preferably, the wiper blade carries a lubricant such as a silicon-based grease.

  • Patent number: 5887796
Abstract: A dual mode watering nozzle attachable to a hose. The nozzle has two outlets. One outlet selectively delivers a full flow stream across a valve control. The other outlet selectively delivers a spray. One outlet at the nozzle may be used, for example, to quickly fill a container and the other to deliver a spray for applications such as watering plants or cleaning a surface.

  • Patent number: 5878519
Abstract: A support and gripping apparatus for supporting traffic control signs to a concrete roadway abutment. The support has a plate which rests on the top of the abutment and which is held in place by a flange and adjustable grips which engage the abutment side wall. C-clamps are positioned along the plate. An adaptor is detachably securable to the plate and has a spring and vertically extending tube which carries the sign. Handles may be provided on the base to assist in moving and positioning the support. The adaptor may extend horizontally in cantilever fashion past the abutment side wall and having a group supported leg for additional stability. A wedge may be used by the installer to lift a glare screen if one is mounted on the abutment.

  • Patent number: 5862717
Abstract: A transmission for a motorcycle utilizing an automotive engine. The transmission has a torque converter that serves as a fluid coupling to the engine and multiplies torque at low speeds. A valve is manually operable as by a foot pedal to lock-up a pressure plate in the converter when a predetermined speed is reached so a direct mechanical connection is established between the engine output and the transmission power output via an axially extending main shaft. The transmission power output includes a bevel gear arrangement which drives an output shaft which is 90.degree. with respect to the axis of the transmission.
