  • Patent number: 4430643
Abstract: A binary-coded-decimal to binary converter employs a selection network to which the binary coded decimal digits are applied, the digits being selected in pairs of increasing order of decimal denominational significance to be passed to the address lines of a pair of memory elements, the locations of which contain the binary terms equivalent to the decimal digits from which the particular location address is derived. In order to increase the effective utilization of the memory elements, the binary code components specifying at least one of the decimal digits are manipulated by the selection network, for example by conversion to complementary form, before being applied to the address lines.

  • Patent number: 4429941
Abstract: A cable clamping arrangement (2) for an electrical connector arranged to hold a cable or bundle of wires (7) firmly in place so as to provide strain relief to the wire terminations. In the described embodiment the cable (7) is clamped by being urged into a pair of V-notches (5) formed in a hollow member (3). In one form of the device a flexible tie (8), extending through the interior of the hollow member (3), pulls the cable (7) into the V-notches (5). In other forms of the device the cable (7) is pulled into the V-notches (5) by a rigid hook (11) also extending through the interior of the hollow member (3).

  • Patent number: 4429184
Abstract: Mitigation of faults in a telephone exchange, the faults being in the form of interruptions in calls in progress caused by brief voltage drops or failure of the AC voltage supply to the exchange. Failure of the AC supply, or a voltage drop in the stabilized Dc voltage is detected, and causes interruption of the program execution in the exchange. Depending on whether the fault has a duration greater or less than a given time, either all connections set up are released, or the connection state for the time before the occurrence of the fault is set up again.

  • Patent number: 4427122
Abstract: A container for liquids and other products comprising at least two layers of plastic material formed from a composite parison which, after heating is expanded by internal pressure into the shape of the finished container. The plastic material of the inner layer of the parison contains aluminum powder and provides protection against admission of light and comparable radiation to the material within the container. The aluminum powder also serves to heat the parison before blowing by reflecting applied shortwave radiation into the plastic material of the parison.

  • Patent number: 4425948
Abstract: Wire wrapping tool with a cylindrical wrapping bit which during its rotation carries a wire in a longitudinal groove so that the wire can be wound onto a tag located in the axial prolongation of a wrapping bit. The wrapping bit (6) is provided with a nozzle (9) which can rotate freely relatively to the wrapping bit and has an inclined hole (11). By inserting the end part of the wire into the hole (11) this is held by means of frictional engagement with the two opposite edge parts (13, 14) of the hole when turning the wrapping bit. When turning the nozzle relatively to the wrapping bit the end part of the wire is wound onto the tag and the wire is released.

  • Patent number: 4416927
Abstract: A tubular article (19) having a peripheral groove (12) is formed by providing the groove in the wall of a tubular blank (10) made of thermoplastic material such as polyethylene terephthalate by applying simultaneously a pressure against the wall of the blank and axial stretching forces. In the bottom of the groove (12) the material (15) is drawn to yielding and the blank is simultaneously elongated.

  • Patent number: 4415865
Abstract: A circuit arrangement incorporated in a class AB amplifier for controlling the quiescent current through the transistors (T1, T2) incorporated therein so that the load current (I.sub.L) is zero when the input voltage (I.sub.IN) to the amplifier is zero. The arrangement comprises two feedback loops, each connected to the base circuits of both amplifier transistors. One feedback loop comprises a sensing resistor (R1) connected to the load (Z), an adder (S1) and an amplifier element (A1) with high gain and input impedance. The second feedback loop comprises a sensing resistor in the main current flow of the second transistor (T2), an adder (S2) and an amplifier element (A2) of the same kind as the first one (A1). The degree of feedback in the second loop is suitably selected greater than that of the first loop to achieve a greater control range for the amplifier.

  • Patent number: 4413464
Abstract: A method of producing a package for storing and/or shipping material, and particularly pulverized material such as coffee, provides producing an inner container for placing therein the material by folding flexible sheet material so as to form a substantially rectangular shape and securing the folded edges to each other by adhesion. The so-obtained inner container is inserted into an outer container of similar shape and attached to the inner wall surface of the outer container. One side of the inner container can be conveniently cut open for removal of material and the outer container has on its side adjacent to the side of the inner container which is intended to be opened a closure member which can be opened to provide access to the inner container and can be closed again.

Abstract: In an arrangement for adjustably mounting an optical direction indicator, such as a sighting telescope (1) with associated base (4) on a substructure (8), the base (4) is provided with three attachment points (5, 6, 7), which are adjustable to give the direction indicator a prescribed direction in relation to the substructure. All three attachment points (5, 6, 7) are ball points. The ball (11) of the first attachment point is rigidly mounted. The ball (22) of the second attachment point (6) is movable in an arc about the first attachment point (5). The ball (31) of the third attachment point (7) is movable in the plane of the base (4) and at right angles thereto. There are two adjusting screws at the third attachment point (7), one for adjusting in the plan of the base (4) and one for adjusting at right angles thereto.

  • Patent number: 4409176
Abstract: An article (11) of thermoplastic material is moulded from a parison (10) in which certain parts (17,16) of the parison are re-formed while other parts (13,12,20) retain their shape. A difference in pressure is applied to the wall of the parison during the re-forming process. Material in the parison is also moved in the direction of those parts of the parison which are to be re-formed, whereby attenuation of the material may be avoided entirely, if so desired, also in those parts which are to be re-formed. The invention enables the parison for a bottle to be re-formed to an extent which is small by comparison with the thickness of the material, for example the so-called "neck support" ring and the so-called "pilfer proof" ring, starting with a tube of oriented material. In a device for the application of the invention the elements (22,21,25) are in contact with the parts (13,12,20) of the parison.
