Abstract: A process for the production of a solid esterquat free from solvents comprising the steps ofA) forming a mixture comprising(i) at least one fatty acid triethanolamine ester corresponding to formula (I) ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 CO is a saturated and/or unsaturated acyl radical containing 6 to 22 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 independently of one another represent hydrogen or have the same meaning as R.sup.1 CO, and n, m and p together stand for O or for a number of from 1 to 10;(ii) at least one fatty alcohol polyglycol ether, and(iii) at least one fatty acid partial glyceride; andB) adding an alkylating agent to the above mixture to form said solid esterquat.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the production of Guerbet alcohols by condensation of aliphatic alcohols in the presence of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal hydroxides as catalyst using the Guerbet reaction, in which the initial pressure in the reactor corresponds to the vapor pressure of the alcohol components used and, during the reaction, the pressure is continually reduced to the vapor pressure of the reaction mixture at the particular temperature.

Abstract: A process for the production of fatty acid lower alkyl esters comprising the steps of:A) treating at least one fatty acid ester of glycerol with from about 0.3 to about 3% by weight, based on the weight of ester, of an acid at an elevated temperature;B) removing said acid from the treated fatty acid ester; andC) reacting the treated fatty acid ester with at least one lower aliphatic alcohol to transesterify the fatty acid ester.

Abstract: A composition of matter comprising a resin obtained by a process comprising reacting at an elevated temperature an epoxidized ester of an unsaturated fatty acid with an aliphatic alcohol with a resin acid is provided. The equivalent ratio of epoxy groups of said epoxidized ester to carboxyl groups of said resin acid is in the range from 1.5:1 to 0.01:1. The resin is useful as a tackifier for adhesives and has a reduced tendency to crystallize.

Abstract: Block-form cleaners for flush toilets which consist of at least two masses of different composition, one of the masses being at least partly surrounded by the other mass(es) and the surrounded mass containing an active substance in a concentration at least 1.3 times higher than in the surrounding mass. This distribution ensures that the active substance is more uniformly released over the useful life of the cleaning block.

Abstract: Detergent mixtures containing a) alkyl and/or alkenyl oligoglycosides corresponding to formula (I)R.sup.1 O--?G!.sub.p (I)in which R.sup.1 is an alkyl or alkenyl radical containing 8 to 22 carbon atoms, G is a sugar unit containing 5 or 6 carbon atoms and p is a number of 1 to 10; b) fatty alcohol polyglycol ethers corresponding to formula (II) ##STR1## in which R.sup.2 represents alkyl radicals containing 6 to 14 carbon atoms, n is a number of 0.5 to 2 and m is a number of 2 to 10 and, optionally, c) amphoteric or zwitterionic surfactants and water, have synergistic effects in regard to their washing, dishwashing, foaming and cleaning performance and in regard to their skin-cosmetic compatibility. Accordingly, they are suitable for the production of a number of surface-active preparations, particularly manual dishwashing detergents.

Abstract: A method of tackifying an adhesive is provided, the improvement comprising the use of a copolymer consisting of monomer units derived monomers consisting of:(A) 10 to 50% by weight of a terpene with no conjugated double bonds,(B) 20 to 50% by weight of a member selected from the group consisting of olefinically unsaturated monocarboxylic acids containing 3 to 5 carbon atoms and anhydrides thereof, and olefinically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids containing 3 to 5 carbon atoms and anhydrides thereof, and(C) 40 to 50% by weight of an ester selected from the group consisting of esters and semiesters of olefinically unsaturated monocarboxylic containing 3 to 5 carbon atoms and esters and semiesters of olefinically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids containing 3 to 5 carbon atoms, with the proviso that the sum total of said monomers is 100% by weight.

Abstract: A process is provided for preparing a dispersion of a polyamide in water, said process comprising:dissolving a polyamide having an amine value of greater than about 2 in an organic solvent to form a solution of said polyamide in said solvent, said polyamide and said solvent being at a temperature below the softening point of said polyamide during said dissolving, said solution further comprising a surfactant and an inorganic alkaline material,adding sufficient water containing an acid to said solution with mixing to form an oil-in-water dispersion, the temperature of said solution and said water being below the softening point of said polyamide during said adding, the amount of said acid being sufficient to neutralize a portion of said inorganic alkaline material, but insufficient to coagulate said polyamide from the resulting oil-in-water dispersion, andremoving at least a major amount of said organic solvent from said oil-in-water dispersion.
