Abstract: Device for dispersing a water-soluble polymer comprising: a chamber for grinding and draining of the dispersed polymer comprising a rotor and a stator, and on all or part of the periphery of the chamber, a ring fed by a secondary water circuit. The ring communicates with the chamber for spraying of pressurized water on the blades of the stator. A method implementing the device is also provided.
Abstract: A is provided for constructing a jump pit with a sand area. The form is constructed in sections. Each section has an inside wall and an outside wall. A support member is located between the outside wall and the inside wall. The sections are secured together onsite. Caps are mounted on the support members. The caps include an inclined surface which slops upwardly and away from the sand area forming the inclined surface. A cover over the sand area is supported by the inclined surface. Optionally, a chamber is located adjacent the outside wall. A grate covers the chamber and the grate is supported by a brace. A mat covers the grate. Openings in the grate and in the mat permit sand through them, thrown from the sand area to drop into the chamber.
Abstract: A method is provided for establishing clusters in a distributed data processing environment having a plurality of nodes. The frequency of messages sent for the purpose of cluster formation is selected based on ranking of the nodes. Higher ranking nodes transmit such messages more frequently than lower ranking nodes. Lower ranked nodes thus are provided with an opportunity to join a cluster without first having to transmit their own messages to effectuate the joining.

Abstract: There is provided in one embodiment an indicia reading apparatus having an integrated circuit that includes an image sensor array. The integrated circuit can output a pixel value output to represent an average of light incident on an adjacent set of pixels of the image sensor array.
Abstract: A form for constructing a thrower's circle includes a pair of half sections. Each half section has an upper surface and a base surface and two full length members and two half length members. The full length members and the half length members are connected together substantially at right angles to form a rectangle with four corners. A corner brace is located in each of the four corners. An inside cross member and an outside cross member extend between the half length members and are generally parallel to the full length members. A pair of semi-circles, each having substantially the same diameter that is larger than the length of the half length members and less than the length of the full length members. Means are provided for securing the half sections together so that the semi-circles form a full circle. Tubes extend from the circle toward the base to drain water from with in the circle.
Abstract: A device that allows for serial (time) use of clean blood filters during the use of a heart lung machine. The device is comprised of a series of filters and a switching mechanism that allows the new filter to be placed in the blood flow pathway while at the same time removing the old (previous) filter. A clean filter is always available, and filters for specific components of blood or those able to bind and remove specific biochemicals can be used.
Abstract: Dehumidifying and re-humidifying cooling apparatus and method are provided for an electronics rack. The apparatus includes an air-to-liquid heat exchanger disposed at an air inlet side of the rack, wherein air flows through the rack from the air inlet side to an air outlet side. The heat exchanger, which is positioned for ingressing air to pass thereacross before passing through the electronics rack, is in fluid communication with a coolant loop for passing coolant through the heat exchanger, and the heat exchanger dehumidifies ingressing air to the electronics rack to reduce a dew point of air flowing through the rack. A condensate collector disposed at the air inlet side collects liquid condensate from the heat exchanger's dehumidifying of ingressing air, and an evaporator disposed at the air outlet side humidifies air egressing from the electronics rack employing condensate from the condensate collector.

Abstract: Deadlock situations within a computing environment are avoided by properly managing pools of threads used to service requests of the computing environment. When a server of the computing environment receives a request to be processed and that request is waiting on a response from a client of the computing environment, the set of eligible thread pools for the response is dynamically altered. This dynamic altering allows the response to be serviced by a thread pool different from the thread pool servicing the request, thereby avoiding a deadlock situation.
