Abstract: In an illustrated embodiment, brightness, color, opacity and fluorescent contribution to brightness of single thickness sheet material are measured by an optical measuring system providing for simultaneous measurement of transmitted and reflected light. One embodiment is designed so as to be capable of transverse scanning of a moving paper web on the paper machine. An optical window member of translucent diffusing material serves as a backing for the web for reflectance measurements and is in series with the web with respect to transmittance measurements. The optical window itself is selected as to its reflectance and transmittance so as to provide for periodic standardization of the instrument in an off-sheet position. Another embodiment will measure the same optical properties of single thickness sheet material selectively, with spectral response filters for characterizing such optical properties and with a series of narrow band filters.
Abstract: In an illustrated embodiment, a backing sheet capable of storing information relative to pharmaceutical prescriptions has a first series of adhesively backed pharmaceutical prescription label segments removably secured thereto, each label segment having formatted zones thereon for facilitating entry of typed information and accommodating simultaneous transfer of typewriter impressions to the backing sheet. A second series of supplemental data segments on the backing sheet provide for recording of supplementary information with respect to each label segment contemporaneously with the typing of the label segment. After removal of a prescription label segment from the backing sheet, the backing sheet has stored thereon both the formatted information as entered on the label segment and necessary supplemental data so as to facilitate computerized pharmaceutical accounting.
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for producing a laminated sheet wherein a thin film laminate is provided which is formed of a thin film laminating or substrate sheet with a heat reactivatible adhesive layer on one side thereof to produce a combined thickness of 11/2 to 3 mils. On the other side of the laminating or substrate sheet a paper carrier sheet is adhesively attached for stiffening the thin film laminating sheet. The thin film laminate or substrate is folded to form a pouch and the sheet to be laminated is placed therebetween. The pouch is then processed in an oven-type laminator to produce the laminated sheet with attached carrier sheet. Finally, the carrier sheet is stripped away to produce the final product. By use of an integral carrier sheet, the relatively thin film laminating sheets may be conveniently used in conventional oven laminators without the need for special supporting techniques.
Abstract: A circuit arrangement is disclosed for the transmission of electrical supply outputs for low power devices which must be electrically separated from the mains supply. The circuit arrangement has at least one opto-electronic coupler with which low power can be transmitted with complete electrical separation. Accordingly, mains transformers can be replaced in low power operations.
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for the production of a control signal, in particular a level regulation signal, in a receiving channel which is subject to interference, forms an amplitude-dependent control signal from the phase coded input signal. In the receiving channel a frequency regulating circuit has an oscillator which is synchronized by means of the received signal and the received signal is superheterodyned with the output signal of the oscillator in one mixer, directly, and delayed by 90.degree. in another mixer. The mixed products are then fed through low-pass filters to obtain signals which indicate the frequency shift between the input signal frequency and the oscillator frequency, which signals are converted in a third mixer and serve for tuning the oscillator. The output signals obtained from the outputs of the two first-mentioned mixers, after being fed through low-pass filters, are squared and combined in a difference stage.

In this case, the sources and drains of the FETs are connected commonly and connected in parallel to a signal transmission path, their gates are supplied with different voltages, and the mutual conductances among the FETs are selected to be reduced gradually.
Abstract: In order to supply a dose rate which is as constant as possible over the cross section of the x-ray cone for radiation therapy, especially at lesser tissue depths (e.g. 3 cm), the surfaces of the collimator which define the margin of the x-ray cone are roughened for example by means of grooves transverse to the radiation direction, the grooves having semicircular or step-shaped cross sectional configuration, and advantageously being formed in a thin walled sleeve of low atomic number.
Abstract: An arrangement for the determination of the effective value and/or the performance or power and, for example, also the cross-power of electrical signals, in particular those Doppler signals which are received in ultrasonic-Doppler blood flow measurement. The arrangement includes an amplifier for the present electrical signal regulatable in amplification which, on the one hand, is connected into a control loop or circuit for regulating the degree of amplification for the purpose of producing constant amplifier power outputs and, on the other hand, connected into a measuring circuit for determination of the degree of amplification which adjust itself at the current power constant-regulation of the amplifier.
Abstract: An electronic navigation calculator having first input key group for navigation functions, second input key group for navigation numerals, third input key group for navigation operations, a memory device supplied with information signals from said first, second and third input key groups and memorizing said supplied information signals, operational and control device for carrying out predetermined navigation calculations in accordance with information signals from said input key groups, and output device for indicating the calculated results. As a result, a calculation of direction, speed, position and time of a moving body is carried out in accordance with said information signals from said first, second and third input key groups and the calculation result is displayed.
Abstract: A flow through converter utilizing a transistor as the switching element with its collector emitter path connected in parallel with a capacitor and a transformer which is arranged in the power circuit and the output winding which is connected to a rectifier diode in the series arm and to a free diode in the shunt arm and with a second switching transistor connected in parallel with the adjusting transistors so as to prevent overload on the first transistor.

Abstract: A process is disclosed for the manufacture of solid electrolytic capacitors wherein sintered anode elements with their anode wires are attached to a clamping fixture. In a further step a notch is formed in the anode wires. After bending of the anode wires the anode input wires which are held in an additional fixture are welded on in overlapping fashion. The notch acts as a designed fracturing or breaking point for the final separation of the capacitor elements. It is expedient to design the anode input wires to have a section expanded to form a roof like shovel.
Abstract: A circuit arrangement is disclosed which compares a preferred position of a type carrier driven by a stepping motor with binary values of signals actuating the stepping motor. If a signal assigned to the preferred position and a signal produced by the binary values of the signals do not coincide, stepping pulse trains are fed to the stepping motor until coincidence is reached. The stepping motor is thereby accelerated in accordance with an acceleration program so that said stepping motor runs with an approximately constant load angle as soon as possible, and that an unequivocal assignment exists between the stepping pulses and the position of the type carrier.

Abstract: A vertical-axis, automatic washing machine has a central drive shaft for oscillatably driving a first agitator portion with a clutch member splined thereto. The clutch has downwardly-facing teeth having drive surfaces and slip surfaces. An auger or second agitator portion coaxial with the first agitator portion has cooperating upwardly-facing teeth. Upon a drive or forward oscillation of the drive shaft and first agitator portion, the drive surfaces engage one another to drive the auger portion in a stepwise rotation. During an opposite rotation of the first agitator portion, the slip surfaces engage one another and, where the contents of the washer basket retards a reverse movement of the auger, the teeth will slip past one another, with the clutch member reciprocating vertically upon its splined connection. An annular cushioning member placed between the clutch and the agitator parts cushions impacts between the teeth during such reciprocations by controlling the depth of tooth engagement.
