  • Patent number: 4148143
Abstract: A dental handpiece includes a base member detachably connected to a hollow portion of a grip piece which has a turbine head with at least one consumer point which includes a pressure-driven turbine. To convey a pressure medium from a supply hose, a separate flexible conduit for each type of medium extends through a separate passageway in the base member to terminate at a common connecting member which has a passage for each conduit and is held in communication with fixed bores or ducts in the turbine head. The connecting member is held in fluid communication either by a spring or by a threaded fastener. In order to control the amount of fluid flowing through each of the flexible conduits, each flexible conduit may be provided with means for partially collapsing the conduit to cause a restriction in the flow through volume.

  • Patent number: 4149127
Abstract: Dielectric resonator stabilized micro-strip oscillators in which micro-strip lines are provided to the first, second and third terminals of the active element for oscillation and in which a dielectric resonator coupled at a predetermined position to one of the micro-strip lines which is not used as an output terminal is disclosed. In the integrated microwave oscillator, there is an active element for oscillation such, for example, as GaAs-FET having first, second and third terminals. Micro-strip lines connect to the first and third terminals, and a micro-strip line connected between the first and third terminals form a feedback circuit, together with the first mentioned micro-strip lines. A dielectric resonator is coupled to one of these micro-strip lines which is not used as an output terminal at a predetermined location.

  • Patent number: 4147979
Abstract: A probe for the non-contact measurement of electric or magnetic field strengths has two wave guides provided on a substrate. One of the wave guides has a measurement portion consisting of an electro-optical material or a magneto-optical material in a region of a measurement zone. A magnetic or electric field changes the index of refraction of the measuring portion and the intensity of a light wave traveling through this portion of the wave guide is reduced. Comparison is then made between a standard intensity in the other wave guide and a reduced intensity in the light traveling through the wave guide measuring portion.

  • Patent number: 4147579
Abstract: An electric component comprising at least two flat elements is produced by coating a side of one of the elements, a metal sheet, with a co-polymer layer or by taking a sheet having a co-polymer layer thereon, and punching first elements therefrom. The co-polymer layer is softened by heating and the second element is pressed controllably onto the first and into the co-polymer layer. The layer does not run and so maintains an insulating separation between the elements, while bonding the elements firmly together. Piezoceramic resonators and semi-conductors circuits are advantageously joined to punch-formed parts in this manner.

  • Patent number: 4147401
Abstract: An adjustable mounting and driving device is disclosed for a polygonal mirror to be mounted on a drive shaft. The mirror is held at an axial end in a cup shaped cavity in a holder having a central bore for receipt of the drive shaft. The bore has a drive shaft contact area which is relatively axially short allowing the housing to tilt on the drive shaft. A plate is fixably mounted on the drive shaft axially adjacent the holder and has a plurality of axially adjustable set screws engageable with a back wall of the holder to control tilt of the holder on the shaft. A resilient member between a front wall of the housing and an extension of the plate urges the housing into contact with the set screws and rotatably drives the mirror.

  • Patent number: 4147951
Abstract: A gas discharge lamp is disclosed having a double electrode arrangement in a discharge space. The discharge space is defined by a glass tube sealed in gas-tight fashion and which is subdivided approximately along a longitudinal center-line by a separation plate. One end of the tube is open and receives an insulating disc through which lead wires for the electrodes pass. The insulating disc is connected in gas-tight fashion to the tube. The separation plate extends from the insulating disc towards the opposite end of the tube and terminates at a point spaced from the end of the tube. Accordingly, gas-tight discharge half spaces are formed at both sides of the separation plate with a connecting discharge space at the end of the tube which is not subdivided by the separation plate.

  • Patent number: 4148009
Abstract: A method of electronically retouching a pattern, for example in connection with a type symbol scanning apparatus for obtaining type data for an electronic light type setting arrangement or the like, for the derivation of recording data relating thereto, in which the pattern is scanned in a dot and image line fashion to form an image signal from a sequence of alternating conditions representative, of the black and white segments of an image line with the sequence of conditions being transformed into recording data, in which the length of the respective segments are compared with predetermined minimum lengths and if a segment is below the minimum length, i.e., represents a defect, it is transformed into recording data of the type corresponding to that of the immediately preceding condition, thereby automatically eliminating such defect segment.

  • Patent number: 4146325
Abstract: A method and apparatus for effecting the visualization of electrostatic images. During the deposition of the pigment in the developing area, the absorption of light is measured at least at one part of the surface of the image so as to form a signal, and that the further supply of pigment is controlled in accordance with this signal. Through the control, meaning the termination or break off of the developing sequence upon reaching of a predetermined image coating, respectively, color depth, such as darkening, there is obtained the identical picture characteristics for all exposures.
