  • Patent number: 4135664
Abstract: A lateral register control system utilizing a reference lateral and circumferential mark pair preprinted on the web which is compared with a corresponding mark pair mounted on a drum coupled to the shaft of the print cylinder whose reference is to be controlled. The clock source being an encoder connected to the same print stand as laid down the reference marks on the web. The contents of the cylinder position counters always being slightly greater than the contents of the scanner difference counters and being counted up slightly before the scanner difference counters. Upon sensing a first reference mark on the web, the scanner difference counters are permitted to count. Upon the second reference mark being sensed the fine adjust counters are permitted to start counting. Upon the contents of the fine adjust counters equaling the value of operator setable fine adjust switches, an error pulse train is generated having an associated sign.

  • Patent number: 4135247
Abstract: A tomography processor system for processing data from a plurality of projections in essentially real time to produce a reconstructed image immediately following completion of a scan. The system includes specialized high-speed processing stages for performing required calculations and operating in concert with a low-cost computer providing overall system control. These processing stages form a multi-stage pipeline processor capable of performing the correction, convolution, interpolation, and back projection functions required to reconstruct the desired final image. The invention makes use of a reconstruction algorithm particularly adapted to implementation in the manner disclosed and claimed.

  • Patent number: 4134471
Abstract: A loudspeaker system which has a frequency response at any angle located about the speaker system which will be uniform such that the output sound pressure at any frequency from the speaker system will be as great or greater than the sound pressure from any other direction which comprises a reflected path from the speaker system. The speaker system includes a radial horn which radiates a spherical sector rotated 360.degree. through a horizontal plane is provided. One or two speakers are mounted so that they produce a pulsating cylindrical wave which feeds into the radiator and an inverted conical member is mounted in the transition portion between the pulsating cylinder and the output horn portion. This output is blended with similar wavefronts produced by a low fequency loudspeaker which is acoustically associated with a vented box. The vent is on the periphery of the box adjacent the low frequency loudspeaker and is narrower than the thickness of the walls of the box.

  • Patent number: 4135139
Abstract: In an illustrated embodiment the line generator for the image display device is operated at a relatively high frequency such as 200 Hz while the actual ultrasonic scanning takes place at a pulse repetition rate of 50 Hz. Preferably alternately operable buffer memories store successive lines of ultrasonic echo signals, and then provide readout of the lines at a higher rate consistent with the display line frequency. In the example given, each stored echo line is read out twice in successive display line intervals. By suitable control of the readout timing, one set of staggered pairs of display lines may be displayed during one image cycle, and an interleaved set of display line pairs may be activated during alternate image cycles in conjunction with interlaced scanning operation of the ultrasonic applicator.

  • Patent number: 4134640
Abstract: An output/input coupler for multi-mode glass fibers characterized by a substrate, a main line having at least one flat surface, and at least one branch line having one flat surface. The main line and branch line are arranged on the substrate with the flat surfaces being in spaced parallel facing relationship. Preferably, the main line has the square cross section and the flat surface of each branch line extends at an angle to the axis of the branch line so that the branch line has a wedge-shaped configuration in the plan view. A transparent material may be imposed in the space between the spaced parallel facing surfaces of the main and branch lines. This transparent material may be a liquid crystal material whose optical properties are changed by the application of an electric field created by a pair of electrodes which overlie the space between the parallel facing surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4135222
Abstract: A fault current protection switch detects fault currents from conductors of a supply means to ground. The system uses at least one difference transformer connected to the conductors of the supply mains. An oscillation generator circuit is connected to the difference transformer through feedback windings. The oscillation generator circuit checks the magnetization of a core of the difference transformer, and, in the event of a change in the transforming properties of the core due to "mis" magnetization caused by a fault current, the oscillation generator circuit triggers a control and switching member connected in the supply mains to disconnect the same.

  • Patent number: 4134475
Abstract: An adjustable pad hydraulic lift structure has a vehicle engaging and supporting pad vertically movable by a hydraulic piston, the pad being mounted on a bolster and having load transfer blocks facing downwardly for engagement with the bolster to transfer vehicle load from the pad to the bolster. Supporting and guide rods on the bolster and bearings on the pad cooperate to support the unloaded pad for adjustment into selected position over the bolster, and while supporting the unloaded pad maintaining the pad at an elevation wherein the load transfer blocks are supported free of the bolster to permit free adjustments of the pad. The supporting and guide rods are yieldable when the pad is under vehicle load to permit the load transfer blocks to engage the bolster for load transfer from the pad to the bolster.

  • Patent number: 4134033
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for a fast switching digital differential amplifier system useful in regenerating information signals in charge coupled devices. The amplifier system has a first capacitance at an input point which is charged and discharged in accordance with a binary "0" or binary "1" at the input. A second capacitance and an output capacitance is provided with a predetermined charge thereon. In the event of a binary "1", the predetermined charge on the second and output capacitance is retained while the first capacitance is discharged. In the event of a binary "0", the second and output capacitances are discharged via a current sink. A flip-flop is connected to the output capacitance for accelerating the discharge of the same. Switching transistors are additionally provided for activating the flip-flop to achieve the desired fast-switching.
