  • Patent number: 6149415
Abstract: An improved internal gear pump design is provided whereby the head plate includes a groove located vertically above the crescent for providing improved axial feed to the roots or innermost spaces between the idler teeth. The design of the pump also includes a stepped shaft design whereby the radius of the shaft immediately adjacent to the rotor is greater than an adjacent outboard section of the shaft. As a result, a chamber for housing the seal assembly is defined as the space between the stepped shaft portion, the annular seal plate, the outboard section of the shaft that has a lesser or reduced diameter, and the casing. The casing may also include a recess for providing sufficient space for the seal assembly. The larger section of the shaft is accommodated in a bushing mounted to the inside surface of the casing. The inside diameter of the bushing is large enough to accommodate the larger stepped portion of the shaft as well as the outside diameter of the seal assembly.

  • Patent number: 6151365
Abstract: It is intended to reduce the rate of occurrence of prediction value judgment errors. Where a prediction value x'.sub.n-1 of a 1-clock preceding code is 0, a judgment circuit 1 outputs a value "1" as a prediction value x'.sub.n if a reproduction signal value y.sub.n sampled at time n is greater than or equal to a threshold value .eta. that is supplied from a threshold value generating circuit 6, and outputs a value "-1" as the prediction value x'.sub.n if y.sub.n <.eta.. Where x'.sub.n-1 is not 0, the judgment circuit 1 outputs a value "0" as the prediction value x'.sub.n. Therefore, the control circuit 1 outputs a value "0" every other clock as a prediction value. During the interval between the first two clocks, the threshold value .eta. is set at 0. Then, when supplied with codes of a given pattern that are arranged at the start, a switch 2 selects the prediction value x'.sub.n that is supplied from the judgment circuit 1. An operation circuit 16 calculates a phase error .DELTA..tau..sub.

  • Patent number: 6151089
Abstract: A reflection type display device includes a panel, a light guide plate placed external to the panel, and a light source placed at the end of the light guide plate for generating illumination light as required. The light guide plate normally transmits external light onto a first substrate of the panel and emits the external light reflected from a second substrate of the panel, while, as required, guides illumination light onto the first substrate and emits the illumination light reflected from the second substrate. The light guide plate includes a planar section divided into bands and an inclined section lying between each planar section. The light guide plate reflects the illumination light guided from the light source at each inclined section so as to lead it onto the first substrate and emits the illumination light reflected from the second substrate through each planar section and inclined section.

  • Patent number: 6151343
Abstract: In a method and an apparatus for driving a diode-pumped solid-state laser, the light power emitted by the solid-state laser (1) is determined as a measurement signal, using a measurement apparatus. By comparison of the measurement signal with a predetermined light power target value, a control deviation is determined in a control amplifier the deviation being converted in a generator into a driver current for a laser diode used as a pump diode for the resonator of the solid-state laser. For the damping of high-frequency disturbances of the light power, in a high-bandwidth negative feedback branch the high-frequency components of the measurement signal are filtered out by means of a high-pass filter and are supplied to a fast control amplifier. In a control element connected in parallel to the laser diode, a portion of the driver current supplied to the laser diode is controlled dependent on the high-frequency components of the measurement signal.

  • Patent number: 6145626
Abstract: A system for the delivery and control of an air/oil mixture used to lubricate large bearings in heavy duty applications such as steel mills is provided. The system includes a mixing module for mixing air and oil and delivering the air/oil mixture through a plurality of connecting lines to a plurality of bearing housings. Each of the connecting lines or the outlet leading to the connecting line is, in turn, connected to its own individual solenoid. Each solenoid is connected to a common pressure transducer which is connected to a controller. The controller sequentially opens the solenoids one at a time thereby establishing communication between one of the connecting lines and the common transducer at a time. The transducer receives pressure signals fr6m each connecting line converts the pressure signals to analog signals before transmitting the analog signals to the controller.

  • Patent number: 6147383
Abstract: An LDD-structured field-effect semiconductor device that can eliminate fluctuations in the threshold voltage caused by variations in the position of higher-density diffusion layers, thereby suppressing variations in the threshold voltage to a lower level. The junction depth of each of the lower-density diffusion layers in contact with a substrate is greater than the depth of a depletion layer at the place corresponding to a portion of the channel region contacting the source region. This prevents a change in the positional relationship between diffusion layers serving as, what are referred to as "pocket layers", and the depletion layer adjacent to the source, even though the position of the higher-density diffusion layers is varied in the longitudinal direction of the channel due to variations in the width of a spacer.
