  • Patent number: 6852051
Abstract: A tensioner lever for a chain or belt power transmission comprises a resin shoe having a shoe surface on which the chain or belt slides, and a back surface with a plunger-engaging part adjacent one end and a lever shaft bearing adjacent the other end. A shape-retaining groove extends longitudinally along the shoe through the plunger engaging part and the lever shaft bearing. A part of a strength-maintaining plate is fits in the shape-retaining groove and a part of the strength-maintaining plate is exposed. Simplification and weight reduction in the tensioner lever can be realized, and molding accuracy requirements are reduced. Assembly is simplified by pawls formed in openings in a side wall of the shoe, which cooperate with locking holes in the strength-maintaining plate. The pawls simplify disassembly for recycling and may be notched so that they can be broken away.

  • Patent number: 6849014
Abstract: In a sliding contact guide for a chain, a guide body is composed of a shoe having a front surface on which the chain slides, and a plate-receiving portion provided on the back of the shoe. The shoe and plate-receiving portion are integrally molded from a synthetic resin. A reinforcing plate is inserted and fitted into a longitudinal slot in the plate-receiving and the sliding contact guide is attached to a frame by a pivot pin which extends through aligned mounting holes in the guide body and the reinforcing plate. Locking pieces formed in the plate-receiving portion, have tapered surfaces on their tips that engage locking holes in the plate and exert a biasing force on edges of the locking holes which urges the plate against the back of the shoe. The reinforcing plate and the guide body are reliably secured together and, even when the guide is vibrated, movement of the reinforcing plate in the slot of the guide body is prevented, so that low noise and long life are attained.

  • Patent number: 6848299
Abstract: An analytical apparatus, such as a quartz crystal microbalance, comprises a piezoelectric sensor and an oscillator circuit, coupled to the sensor, to oscillate at a frequency substantially determined by a resonant frequency of the sensor, and to provide an output signal at the oscillator frequency at an output. The oscillator circuit maintains a substantially constant drive signal to the piezoelectric sensor by an AGC (33) within a feedback loop of the oscillator. The gain control signal is used as an indication of the Q of the piezoelectric sensor. The drive signal to the sensor is made substantially sinusoidal by ensuring that all the elements in the feedback loop providing signal gain and attenuation are configured to operate in a substantially linear mode.

  • Patent number: 6843742
Abstract: A sliding contact guide for a chain, or other flexible transmission medium comprises a synthetic resin guide body having a shoe on which the transmission medium slides, and a slotted, plate-receiving portion on the back side of the shoe for receiving a reinforcing plate. The plate-receiving portion is composed of a pair of opposed, longitudinally extending, slot-defining walls. Raised ribs, for sandwiching the reinforcing plate, are disposed on opposed inner surfaces of the walls, and are oriented in the direction of insertion of the reinforcing plate into the slot. The guide suppresses shock noises due to wobbling of the guide during operation, and molding and assembly of the guide are enhanced.

  • Patent number: 6843914
Abstract: Performance of a rotating filter element for removing particulate matter from a liquid is enhanced by applying acoustic energy in the ultrasonic frequency range to the filter element by plural transducers affixed to the exterior of a bowl surrounding the rotating filter element. The bowl and filter element can be electrically isolated from each other and connected to a D.C. power supply for further enhancement of filter performance. The ultrasonic transducers, the power supply, and a discharge valve can all be operated by a controller, responsive to a sensor which senses the pressure drop across the filter element.
