Abstract: An antimonate, such as potassium antimonate, is used as the destruction catalyst in nitrogen determinations according to the Kjeldahl principle. Preferred catalyst comprises potassium antimonate together with potassium sulfate (for increasing the boiling point of the destruction mixture) and minor amounts of zinc sulfate and cupric sulfate (as co-catalysts).

Abstract: A novel keyboard for use on pianos, organs and the like comprising two confronting sets of keys, each key having a widened main part and a narrow extension, the two sets of keys being arranged with their main parts in confronting relation and with their extensions interleaved therebetween.

Abstract: A collapsible combined table and seat assembly wherein the table top, its legs and the associated seats are all defined by plastic plate-like members that are pivotally joined to one another for folding and unfolding. Pivots are defined either by integral fold lines in plastic or by mechanical hinges. The seats are formed of four pivotally connected plate-like members defining a three sided vertical wall structure supporting a plate-like top which are mutually pivotally connected and releasably positioned in the operative position.

Abstract: An attachment is provided for converting a vehicle, such as a compact car, into an expandable vehicle having an enlarged expandable usable volume, the attachment replaces a removed body portion of a standard type vehicle, such as the rear body panel of an automobile or a side body panel of a van, and is pivotally connected to the balance of the vehicle by an accordian folding hood to define an original enclosed usable volume in the collapsed position of the hood. The attachment comprises an extension shell whose volume is bisected by a diagonal extending through the pivot axis for the extension shell. The diagonal defines the confronting edges of the extension shell with the balance of the vehicle in the collapsed position of the hood. The extension shell in the collapsed position of the hood defines a half volume for the enclosed usable volume which when pivotally rotated about the pivot axis through an angle of 90.degree.

Abstract: A justifying device for a stringed musical instrument comprises a housing having a plurality of keys mounted in the upper part thereof for vertical movement between an initial position and a depressed position, the keys being arranged in the housing in transverse and longitudinal symmetry for simplifying play with each transverse row of keys corresponding to a given fret; a plurality of tongues mounted for vertical movement in the lower part of the housing and arranged in longitudinal asymmetry for alignment with the frets, there being one tongue for each key; means for connecting each key to its corresponding tongue for vertical movement therewith; means for biasing the keys to their initial positions; and presetting means movably mounted on the housing for selectively depressing a transverse row of keys.

Abstract: A paint pad support and handle assembly includes a paint pad support body and a handle which is mounted to the support for swinging movement of about 90.degree. extent about an axis parallel to the plane of the support body and for pivotal movement about an axis perpendicular to the plane of the support body. A spring clip is used for biasing the handle without interfering with its free swing.

Abstract: A tool for deburring tubes of different diameters comprises means for securing the tool in a lathe or another rotor machine, a holder united with said tool securing means and holding a number of cutters, and a guide stud, which is substantially coaxial with the holder and the tool securing means and comprises a substantially conical portion which faces away from said tool securing means and is intended to center the tube to become deburred with respect to said cutter holder. The cutters have deburring edges, which face away from the tool securing means and are located in grooves in the holder. The cutters and the guide stud are elastically movable with respect to each other under the influence of spring means to hereby automatically adjust the location of the cutting edges of the tool to the diameter of the tube or bushing to become deburred.

Abstract: In an apparatus for preparing fresh food paste of the type including a vessel having a bottom and forming a mixing and kneading chamber, the vessel having a closed side wall of circular cross section which is symmetrical about an axis passing centrally through the chamber, a rotatable member mounted within the chamber for rotation about the vertical axis, a drive for rotating the member in a given direction, blades located within the chamber and operatively connected to the rotatable member in a position extending away from the vertical axis, wherein the improvement comprises: the blades including a kneading blade extending into close confronting space relation with the vessel side wall and having a lower surface with leading and trailing edges defined by the given direction of rotation, the trailing edge having a normal position adjacent the vessel bottom and being moveable away from the bottom and the leading edge being positioned at a substantially greater distance from the bottom than the normal position

Abstract: A process for the preparation of pharmaceutical substance-containing microcapsules by liquid-liquid phase separation is disclosed. In this process, ethyl cellulose having an ethoxy content of about 48 to about 49.5% by weight is used as a wall-forming agent and polyisobutylene is used as a phase separation inducing agent, and both or either one of the ethyl cellulose and polyisobutylene are used in the form of a mixture of two kinds differing in the average molecular weight.

Abstract: A method for treating skin burns in mammals where hot, molten organic substances have been deposited on, and are adhering to and aggravating, burned skin areas includes quickly but gently applying sufficient volatile cooling solvent to the affected areas to remove such adhering substances from these areas without further substantial injury thereto, while cooling the areas.

Abstract: Compounds having the formula: ##STR1## wherein (a) when R.sup.1 is --COCH.sub.3 or --COCH.sub.2 OH, R.sup.2 is --OH, R.sup.3 is --OCH.sub.3 and R.sup.4 is --H;(b) when R.sup.2 is --COCH.sub.3 or --COCH.sub.2 OH; R.sup.1 is --OH, R.sup.3 is --H and R.sup.4 is --OCH.sub.3 ;and which are useful in treating certain mammalian tumors, are prepared from 9,10-anhydro-N-trifluoroacetyl daunorubicin, a known compound.

Abstract: An emergency light entirely self-contained that fits into a standard AC fixture in place of a fluorescent or other vapor lamp employs a similar lamp and a rechargeable battery with a system which operates the lamp normally on AC but if AC power fails operates the lamp using battery power. During normal operation on AC the battery is charged by a rectifier charger unit operating in series with the lamp current, which limits battery charge current. When AC power fails the lamp is electrically isolated from the AC line and operated by an inverter unit drawing power from the battery.

Abstract: The invention pertains to a valve for fluid and gaseous materials consisting of a valve housing which at one end has a first port with a controllable closure member which is connected to a second port, said valve having at its other end control organs for the closure member.

Abstract: Apparatus for forming bags about hanger mounted garments using heat sealable wrapping material from a continuous flattened tubular web supplied on a roll. When a hanger mounted garment is placed on the apparatus, a sufficient length of tubing is drawn over the garment, cut free, and sealed at one or both ends. When the wrapped garment is removed, the apparatus returns to starting position.

Abstract: [14-.sup.14 C]-daunorubicin and doxorubicin are prepared by reacting 9-desacetyl-9-formyl-N-trifluoroacetyl daunorubicin with [.sup.14 C]-diazomethane to form [14-.sup.14 C]-N-trifluoroacetyl daunorubicin from which the protecting group is removed by mild alkaline hydrolysis to afford [14-.sup.14 C]-daunorubicin which is then, in the form of the hydrochloride, reacted with bromine to form the corresponding labelled 14-bromo derivative, which, upon treatment with sodium formate leads to [14-.sup.14 C]-doxorubicin.

Abstract: A molded plastic bowling pin incorporating a core extending the length of the pin substantially from its base to its head and constituted of a plurality of plastic core elements of varying sizes and shapes such that the composite pin incorporating the same meets the weight distribution standards set by the American Bowling Congress, and a shell defining the external configuration of the pin, the shell having a substantially uniform thickness about the core elements and being integrally molded on and firmly bonded thereto. The pin is manufactured by assembly of the internal core from the individual plastic core elements having the predetermined, desired weight distribution, and thereafter injection molding the shell directly thereon to define the composite, integrally molded bowling pin.

Abstract: A space frame system built from rectangular tubing comprisingtwo substantially parallel planar chord frames laced together by many diagonal struts. The planar frames are of a rectangular grid pattern, both of the same grid dimensions, each made from continuous chords in one direction and tie chords one grid dimension long in the other direction, all the chords being disposed in one plane without overlap. Each frame has a position aligned with but out of registration with the other by half a grid dimension each way so intersections on one planar frame line up with open centers of the grids on the other. Diagonal struts run from intersections on one planar frame to the nearest intersections on the other. At intersections, the chords and struts are bolted or welded to one or more flat and bent plates. The outermost surfaces of the chords in one planar frame may be left clear of bolts and plates, and skylights may be mounted thereon.

Abstract: The invention pertains to a displaceable annular seal for self-cleaning sludge centrifuges where the sludge contents are ejected through a peripheral slit which is defined upwardly by the upper bowl part, and downwardly by the annular seal which consists of a relatively soft and elastic sealing part and a relatively stiff and hard reinforcement part which are joined by glueing or in a similar manner.
