Abstract: A resin composition, which is obtained by quaternary salt-formation reaction, in the presence of a tertiary amine, of a copolymer and an amine-modified epoxide resin. Also disclosed herein is a water-borne coating comprising the resin. The coating composition can form superior coating film in surface appearance, adhesion, fabrication, coating film hardness, yellowing resistance and retort resistance, and has good coatability, and low organic solvent content.
Abstract: The invention provides a high-yield method for producing onium salt derivatives useful as agents, such as acid-generators, employed in chemically amplified resists; and to provide novel onium salt derivatives. Reaction of an onium salt derivative containing a halide anion or a carboxylate anion with a sulfonic acid ester derivative or a phosphoric acid derivative provides an onium sulfate derivative or an onium phosphate derivative at high yield.
Abstract: The invention provides a photosensitive compound which can be used to prepare a photosensitive resin, and a photosensitive resin obtained from the compound. The compound has a moiety represented by formula (I) or (II):
wherein
R1 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, or an aralkyl group;
Y is selected from the following formula groups:
wherein each of R2 and R3 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, or an aralkyl group, and l is an integer of 1 to 5; and
Ar is selected from the following formula groups:
wherein X represents lithium, sodium, potassium, ammonium, monoalkylammonium, dialkylammonium, trialkylammonium, or tetraalkylammonium.
Abstract: The invention is a compact optical gyroscope based on the Sagnac effect that combines a micro-ring cavity laser comprising a magneto-optical material and a magnetic field to circumvent the lock-in phenomenon at low rates of rotation. The invention also embodies novel processes for breaking lock-in using a transverse Faraday effect.

Abstract: The present invention provides an electrophotography rubber member which has a rebound resilience remaining satisfactorily stabilized over changes in environmental conditions and can serve as a member such as a high-performance cleaning blade and provides a similar sheet-separation rubber member which generates no noise. The electrophotography rubber member or sheet-separation rubber member is formed of a rubber elastomer containing a polyurethane formed from a long-chain polyol containing a polyester-polyol having a number average molecular weight of 500-5,000 and an ester concentration of 2-8 mmol/g, wherein the ester concentration is defined by the following relationship: Ester concentration (mmol/g)=(Amount by mol of ester groups)/(Weight of the polyester-polyol).
Abstract: The present invention relates to amine compositions and the preparation of polyimides. The polyimides can be used for inducing alignment of a liquid crystal medium with polarized light in liquid crystal display elements.

Abstract: Preservative compositions using GRAS (generally recognized as safe) ingredients are incorporated into a commercially viable three-stage preservation process for mushrooms. The process includes contacting the mushrooms with a high pH solution for microbial reduction; a neutralizing step to return the pH of the mushrooms to their about physiological pH; and an anti-browning step that incorporates suitable antioxidants and ancillary compounds to maintain the color of the finished product. Specifically disclosed is a method for preserving fresh mushrooms comprising the steps of exposing the mushrooms to a aqueous anti-microbial solution with a pH of 10.5-11.5; treating the mushrooms with a pH neutralizing buffer consisting of an organic acid and a salt of an organic acid and then subjecting the mushrooms to a combination of an anti-browning agent, a source of calcium and a chelating agent.
