Abstract: A moving-air energy recovery system including an air horn having serially disposed segments of differing flare rates, which intercepts a large area of moving air to channel and transform the flow of moving air into a more concentrated, higher velocity of air flow. This higher velocity air flow is applied to turbine vanes which are connected to an armature that provides a mechanical energy output from the incident air flow on a rotating shaft. In one embodiment, the shaft is connected to a electric generator to generate electric power, which may be applied to stationary applications such as emergency home power, and to mobile applications such as augmenting automobile propulsion.

Abstract: An audio amplifier having a variably configurable housing, which may be mounted to an interior surface of a motor vehicle. The housing is formed in two complementing housing sections mutually joined by a hinge, tether, or other connector. A power supply is contained in one housing section and an audio output module is contained in the other housing section. The power supply and audio output module may be connected by flexible signal conductors to accommodate pivot of the two housing sections relative to one another. A heat sink comprising cooling fins and communications and power terminals may be disposed on the exterior of the housing sections to enable conventional connection to an associated audio system. The hinge may incorporate a fixing element which releasably holds the two housing sections at a selected degree of pivot.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for attenuating unwanted aspects of lighting from a luminaire which is disposed to illuminate an object or objects being photographed. A light attenuating mask is disposed between the luminaire and the object or objects. The light attenuating mask may diffuse, obstruct, or otherwise modify projected light such that light intensity is diminished, unwanted reflections of the luminaire are suppressed, or other aspects of the light are altered. The mask may attach to the luminaire or may be free standing and separate therefrom.

Abstract: A manually propelled, wheeled rotary brush having a handle and two wheels. The brush may have a generally cylindrical configuration which contacts the environmental surface on which the wheels ride, and may rotate about a horizontal axis disposed perpendicularly to the direction of travel as the wheels turn. The brush may be geared to the wheels, and may rotate faster than the wheels. The wheeled rotary brush may have a frame in which the gears are journaled. The handle may be propped in an elevated position by stabilizing legs disposed to engage the environmental surface at a point spaced apart from the brush. The brush may have replaceable brush elements which may be inserted into slots formed in a cylindrical core of the brush.

Abstract: A convertible nursing bra, in an exemplary embodiment, having bra support cups releasable from straps to provide access and further including underlying support panels connected to the encircling strap or under wire support and remaining connected to the straps to provide continued support during nursing. Released portions of the cups are temporarily retained by auxiliary attachment devices on the encircling strap to reduce interference during nursing. The releasable cup-to-strap and/or cup-to-encircling strap connecting devices are easily managed for access, stowing and re-covering.

Abstract: A device for recycling bar soap by passing the drippings, pieces and slivers of soap in the soap dish into a reservoir to form a reusable liquid. The soap dish is mounted on the top of a reservoir, and is provided with an opening communicating with the reservoir. Water or liquid soap can be placed in the reservoir to combine with the soap drippings, slivers and pieces. A dispensing valve or pump communicates with the liquid in the reservoir to provide a way for the user to access the recycled soap mixture. The opening in the soap dish can be closed by a plug to allow the reservoir alternatively to be used to dispense other liquids such as hand lotion.

Abstract: A bathtub transfer bench includes a clamp member having a first arm for engaging an inner wall of a bathtub and a second arm for engaging an outer wall of the bathtub. A support member includes a substantially horizontal bench member and a pair of downwardly extending legs for supporting the bench member adjacent to the outer wall of the bathtub. A coupling mechanism releasably couples the support member to the clamp member.

Abstract: An apparatus for storing fluid containing bags comprising a shelf having a bag-supporting surface, and a pair of laterally extending projections. The device includes a pair of opposed sidewalls each comprising an inner surface, and a longitudinal groove for receiving one of said projections. The groove is disposed in the inner surface. A first support for supporting one of the projections in a first shelf position is disposed within the groove, and a second support for supporting one of the projections in a second shelf position is disposed within the groove. The shelf is disposed between the sidewalls such that each of the projections is disposed within a corresponding groove. The shelf is movable from the first shelf position wherein each of the projections is supported by a corresponding first support and the second shelf position wherein each of the projections is supported by a corresponding second support.

Abstract: A doll arranged to depict a person realistically. A first image of a person such as a photograph is ultimately transferred to a flexible substrate such as a fabric sheet. The substrate is cut or trimmed generally to configuration of a human body. The substrate is joined to a corresponding rear substrate, thereby forming an outer shell having an open interior. The interior may be stuffed with soft material. The outer shell is then sealed to preclude escape of stuffing material. Optionally, the rear substrate may bear a second image such as that of the rear of the person furnishing the first image. The doll may range in size from very small to full body dimensions or may be even larger.

Abstract: This application discloses A multi-lingual output device for output of transactional information for a given customer, the device that includes a data base for determining what transaction information needs to be outputted, the local language in which the information is to be outputted, and the preferred language of the customer in which the information is to be outputted; and, a local transaction subsystem in communication with said database, wherein said local transaction sub system includes input device receiving means for accepting an input device and output generating means for generating a signal to an output device.

Abstract: A modular luminaire which uses LED light sources. The basic frame comprises two end pieces compressed together by through bolts. At least one elongated heat sink is compressed between the end pieces. Each heat sink may bear a plurality of LEDs mounted on a printed circuit board which may have an integral metallic backplate, and is installed on one of the heat sinks with a layer of heat conductive grease therebetween. The heat sinks have fins projecting in three directions, the fourth direction being accounted for by the LEDs, and are rotatable about their longitudinal axes to adjust direction of light propagation. The heat sinks are arrayed in an arc, so that the outside heat sinks shield observers from direct glare from opposed heat sinks. Heat sinks may be extruded to form cooling fins and slots which may receive fasteners such as screws.

Abstract: A training ball for pool type games. The training ball may comprise an array of visually coded bounded shapes disposed on the spherical exterior surface, wherein each one visually coded bounded shape has a characteristic visual coding such as color, and a diametrically opposed corresponding visually coded bounded shape having substantially identical characteristic visual coding, and wherein the array covers substantially all of the spherical exterior surface of the solid sphere. All of the visually coded bounded shapes display characteristic visual coding which is easily visually discernible from each adjacent one of the visually coded bounded shapes. In an associated method of play or practice, a player may visually hypothesize a straight line passing through the center of the training ball using the opposed similar visually coded bounded shapes, mentally set up a shot, and then execute that shot.

Abstract: A graphic rendering of searchable fields of a database, which rendering simulates a geometric solid having a plurality of facets. Each facet, which has its own thematic identity, can accept search inquiries and display results. Virtual manipulation of the geometric solid will expose a succeeding facet to direct view, which succeeding facet may reflect both data uncovered from a prior search inquiry and also related data which was not directly requested. The facets enable the user to organize data according to the various thematic identities of basic facts. The geometric solid assists in enabling the user to intuitively grasp how best to retrieve and interrelate data from the database. Subsidiary geometric solids more limited in content than the original geometric solid may be generated and displayed.

Abstract: A signaling torque driver that includes a casing assembly with a grip portion, a click arm with a fastener-engaging portion that projects from said casing assembly at one end and operably coupled to a torque-limiting means housed within said casing assembly at the other, torque-adjusting means within said casing assembly and coupled to said torque-limiting means for adjusting the torque-limiting means to a desired torque value, audible signaling means operably coupled with said torque-limiting means and/or visual signaling means operably coupled with said torque-limiting means such that an audible and visual indicator is activated to signal that the desired torque has been reached.
