  • Patent number: 4052315
Abstract: The embodiment of the invention disclosed herein is directed to a one-piece molded fluid filter and a mold construction for making the same. The mold construction is provided with first and second body portions having abutting surfaces forming a parting line. A plurality of axially spaced apart semicircular recesses are formed in the body portions to provide annular recesses in the mold. The parting line of the two body portions passes across the central area of each of the annular recesses. Longitudinal channels are formed in each of the body portions to provide a flow path for the injected resin. A core member having a plurality of axially and radially outwardly directed splines is inserted between the body portions and is dimensioned so that the splines come in direct contact with the lands between the recesses of the mold body portions.

  • Patent number: 4042267
Abstract: Polythene bags are used to group together articles of clothing for transit. The invention relates to a security seal for use with such bags to prevent undetected transit theft. The seal according to the invention has two strip-like portions, which are formed with latching portions at points along the lengths of the strip-like portions. The seal is applied to the neck of the polythene bag, and during application the latching portions pierce the bag and pass through to engage in pairs with latching portions on the other strip-like portion. The latching portions have a weakened section, which breaks if the latching portions are urged out of engagement, thus a bag once sealed cannot be opened undamaged, as the seal will have broken latching portions indicating to a checker at the destination that the bag has been interfered with.

On this end, are at least one flat and at least one groove extending over a circular arc situated at right angles with respect to the flat. The actuating means is constituted by a knob or crankhead including a central recess adapted to receive said axle end and at least two flexible parts mounted in the recess and arranged at right angles to one another. One of these parts is adapted to bear on said flat and the other provided with a pin adapted to be engaged in said groove. The fixing means is constituted by a ring adapted to encircle and grip the two parts of the actuating means respectively against and in the flat and the groove of the axle end. The ring comprises means adapted to render it itself fast to the actuating means.

  • Patent number: 4026187
Abstract: A one-piece split shank through bore plastic screw grommet for use in a round hole and which will not spin when a screw is introduced into the bore. In this fastener the size of the shank exceeds the hole to such a degree that when a drive pin having crushable ribs is driven into the bore to expand the shank there are sufficient forces exerted on the wall of the hole to prevent rotation of the screw grommet when the torque of the screw is imparted to the grommet as threads are formed in the bore by the screw.

  • Patent number: 4023758
Abstract: Disclosed is a plastic device for supporting cords and other elongated bodies which device essentially comprises an atoll-shaped main body having an opening, a pair of flexible door members protruding from the edges of the opening toward the interior of the main body and intersecting each other for thereby shutting the opening and an anchor piece to be inserted into an aperture of a plate. In use, the plastic device is fixed by pushing and inserting the anchor piece of the device into an aperture of a plate, and a bundle of wires are pushed against the intersecting door members so that the door members are yieldingly opened, thus allowing the bundle of the cords to enter the inner space of the atoll-shaped main body. Then, the door members are restored to the original intersecting position, thus preventing the cords from slipping out of the inner space of the main body.

  • Patent number: 4021892
Abstract: The invention relates to straps which include an elongate strap portion, a housing at one end of the strap and a screw member which is adapted to be positioned in the housing to draw the strap portion through the housing. In particular, the invention relates to straps which are easily drawn to a predetermined tension about an article by means of a screw member having a weakened section between the head and the threaded shank. The weakened section fractures when a predetermined torque on the screw member is reached, preventing overtightening and also indicating that the required tension in the strap portion has been reached. The screw may have two heads, the second head being revealed when the first breaks off, to permit the strap portion to be released. Straps according to the invention may also be used as security seals, if no second head is provided, as then the strap must be broken to be removed.

  • Patent number: 4014796
Abstract: Disclosed are a strainer and a method of injection-moulding the strainer of plastics. A strainer according to this invention comprises a pair of semi-cylindric shells integrally and movably connected along their adjacent longitudinal sides in the state of being developed; top and bottom circular boards integrally connected to the top and bottom frames of one of said semi-cylindric shells; and nets integrally connected to each of said semi-cylindric shells. This developed structure of the strainer makes it possible to injection-mould a semi-product of strainer as a whole in a single injection-mould die, and a so moulded and developed strainer is easily assembled in the final and complete cylindric shape by simply closing the semi-cylindric shells and integrally connecting them along their abutting longitudinal sides.

  • Patent number: 4011633
Abstract: This invention relates to a one-piece plastic cable strap having a toothed band and a plug-in type socket at one end thereof. The socket consists of an elastically deformable frame having a generally oval shape forming a funnel-shaped opening. An interlocking latch projects into the opening for engagement with the toothed band as the band is fed into the opening; the oval frame is capable of being compressed in the direction of the longitudinal axis to increase the dimension of the minor axis so as to unlock the band from the latch. The latch further includes a pair of skin-like portions connecting the side edges with the support side of the frame to provide a resilient spring-like action to the latch with the engaging end of the latch being spaced from the end of the opening a distance at least equal to the spacing of adjacent teeth on the band.

  • Patent number: 4002822
Abstract: Disclosed is a grommet made of a synthetic resin, which comprises two members adapted to be coupled into embracing engagement, said members each provided at the opposed end portions thereof with a pair of inclined protrusions of which the directions of inclined edges, when observed in front elevation, cross each other. When said two members of the grommet are coupled with each other, therefore, said inclined protrusions closely approach each other at both said end portions so as to firmly grip a cord passed between the two members and said close mutual approach of the inclined protrusions causes the cord to twist itself between one end portion and the other end portion of the coupled members because of said crossed relationship of the directions of the inclined edges of said protrusions. This twist in the cord serves the purpose of preventing the cord from freely moving in the direction of its length.

  • Patent number: 3991960
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for supporting electric wires, cords and other elongated bodies, which comprises a "U"-shaped frame body having a catch provided on one free end of the frame body, a lid member hinge-connected to the other free end of the frame body and a spring member extending from the inner wall of the lid member. In use, a plurality of elongated bodies are laid on the spring member, and the lid member is pushed down until the free end of the lid member is caught by the catch of the "U"-shaped main body, thus putting the elongated bodies in the rectangle space defined by the main body and the lid member. The spring member continuously applies a force to the lid member in its opening direction as a counter action resulting from the state in which the spring member is pushed against the bottom part of the main body and is yieldingly deformed. Thus, the lid member is positively assured from undesired opening and releasing the elongated bodies.

  • Patent number: 3958300
Abstract: Disclosed is a plastic device for clampingly holding a length of electric cord which device comprises two "L"-shaped halves hinge-connected to each other, each having an L-shaped groove. In use, a length of electric cord is curved in the form of an L, and is fitted in the groove of one half, and then the other half is rotated around the hinge-connection to overlie said half in which the cord has been fitted. The two grooves constitute a complete round hole in which the electric cord is contained in a clamped condition. With this arrangement the clamp holder according to this invention assures a positive grip of the electric cord against any "pull-out" force applied to the electric cord.
