  • Patent number: 7846815
Abstract: A disclosed semiconductor fabrication process includes forming a first bonding structure on a first surface of a cap wafer, forming a second bonding structure on a first surface of a device wafer, and forming a device structure on the device wafer. One or more eutectic flow containment structures are formed on the cap wafer, the device wafer, or both. The flow containment structures may include flow containment micro-cavities (FCMCs) and flow containment micro-levee (FCMLs). The FCMLs may be elongated ridges overlying the first surface of the device wafer and extending substantially parallel to the bonding structure. The FCMLs may include interior FCMLs lying within a perimeter of the bonding structure, exterior FCMLs lying outside of the bonding structure perimeter, or both. When the two wafers are bonded, the FCMLs and FCMCs confine flow of the eutectic material to the region of the bonding structure.

  • Patent number: 7842587
Abstract: A semiconductor fabrication process includes forming a gate dielectric layer (120) overlying a substrate (101) that includes a III-V semiconductor compound. The gate dielectric layer is patterned to produce a gate dielectric structure (121) that has a substantially vertical sidewall (127), e.g., a slope of approximately 45° to 90°. A metal contact structure (130) is formed overlying the wafer substrate. The contact structure is laterally displaced from the gate dielectric structure sufficiently to define a gap (133) between the two. The wafer (100) is heat treated, which causes migration of at least one of the metal elements to form an alloy region (137) in the underlying wafer substrate. The alloy region underlies the contact structure and extends across all or a portion of the wafer substrate underlying the gap. An insulative or dielectric capping layer (140,150) is then formed overlying the wafer and covering the portion of the substrate exposed by the gap.

  • Patent number: 7836911
Abstract: A pressure regulator which includes a body. The body has inner walls defining an inlet port. Slidably moving within the inlet port is a hollow stem of a valve and piston assembly. The hollow stem is in slidable gas sealing contact with the inlet port. The valve and piston assembly includes a piston having a piston head with a valved opening therethrough. In the opening in the piston head is the arm of a plug. A body of the plug lies within the sliding piston held in place by a keeper spring, the keeper spring for maintaining a removed end of the plug arm against inner walls of the body. With such a structure, movement of the piston and valve assembly will be capable of unseating the plug from the valved opening in the piston allowing gas to flow from the hollow stem at the inlet port through an inner volume of the piston, through the valved opening of the piston head and into a regulated gas chamber defined in part by the inner walls of the body and an outer surface of the piston head.

  • Patent number: 7816926
Abstract: An analyzer for measuring the response of an electronic device (DUT 206) to an RF input signal from a signal generator (240a) is described. An active load pull circuit (201) is connected to the DUT 206, which receives an output signal from the DUT 206 and then feeds a modified signal back to the DUT 206. The signal is modified by a signal processing circuit (237) in view of input signals x, y to control the magnitude gain and phase change effected by the feedback circuit (237). Thus, positive feedback loops are avoided and better control of the analyzer is permitted. A network analyzer, or other signal measuring device (242), logs the waveforms (from which s-parameters derived) observed at ports of the DUT 206, thereby allowing the behavior of the DUT 206 under various load conditions to be analyzed.

  • Patent number: 7810573
Abstract: A method for retrofitting a downhole drill string with a flow through subassembly having a hollow outer body or barrel with a plurality of outwardly extending blades. Fluid flow inlets are provided in the lower section of the body below the blade openings and flow outlets are provided in an upper section above the blades. A fluid flow bypass channel is formed in the outer body and extends between said blades and from said fluid inlet to said fluid outlet. Drilling fluids outside of the subassembly may flow through the inlet, up the fluid flow bypass channel and out the outlet thereby bypassing any plug or pack-off formed between the subassembly and the well bore. Thus, an existing subassembly may be retrofitted to provide a fluid flow bypass channel around the blades.

  • Patent number: 7814193
Abstract: Disclosed methods of achieving load balancing among a plurality of border elements in a next generation networks (NGN) communication network include a method for processing and user endpoint originated messages (UEOM), such as a register or invite message, generated by a user endpoint. A work load information data structure indicative of a first border element's work load and a second border element's work load is maintained when the border elements exchange work load information. Based on the work load information, a first border element responds to a UEOM by either (1) accepting the UEOM for first border element processing, (2) determining whether to accept the UEOM for first border element processing or redirect the UEOM to a second border element for second border element processing, or (3) rejecting the UEOM.
