Abstract: A slide irrigating unit has two plexiglass boxes, an inner box forming an irrigating chamber and an outer box forming a drain box. The outer drain box is tightly sealed and its inner walls form the perimeters of the inner box which is open at the top. PVC tubing extends through the outer box and underneath the inner box. This tubing is attached to a fresh water source. The fresh water flows into this PVC tubing and under the bottom of the inner box. Water emerges from this PVC tubing through holes in the bottom of the inner box. As the water level increases in height, it rinses racks of stained microscopic slides that have been inserted into the inner box from the top. The inner box contains drainage holes approximately one inch from the top of the open inner box. The stain contaminated water rises from the bottom of the inner box and drains through these drainage holes into the sealed outer box. The stain contaminated water exits the outer drain box through a PVC drainage pipe in the bottom of the outer box.

Abstract: A pot cover holder is made of preformed wire with two sides. An inner side has two suction cups attached to the top. The pot cover slips between the two sides with the handle of the pot cover resting on the indented middle of the outer side. The suction cups are used to attach the invention to kitchen walls or sides of kitchen utilities such as a stove or refrigerator. The bottom incorporates a catch function to trap moisture or food run-off. The holder eliminates the need of placing a pot cover onto a countertop where burns, water stains, water or food run-off and limited space are problems. The invention allows the user to place the pot cover in an out-of-the-way area where the above problems will not exist.
Abstract: A process for the production of a cast piston upper part of a two-part piston comprising the steps of casting a piston head and a ring section having a collar of tab-type segments, wherein the tab-type segments have tapered ends; and bending over the tab-type segments in the direction towards the middle of the piston to form a lower closure serving as an annular cooling oil space.
Abstract: A fan blows air and insects in the direction of the screen. A flexible monofilament rotates adjacent the screen on the opposite side of the fan. Lights within a box attract insects, and the fan draws the insects onto the screen. The rotating monofilament kills the insects and cleans the screen, and the insects remains are swept into circular gutters and fall into a collection drawer.

Abstract: Sample material is sputtered from an orifice in a disc mounted in a hollow cathode. A plasma plume is ejected from the orifice and the material sputtered from the smaple is transported directly into the base of the plasma plume. Collisions with particles in the plasma plume excite the sputtered material. Light emission and absorption from the plume are measured and ions in the plume are measured. A chamber surrounding the plasma plume is maintained at about 1 torr. About 15 cc's per minute of argon are supplied to the hollow cathode at 2 torr. The power supply supplies about 200 volts at about 0.10 amps. Low energy argon ions strick the disc at the end of the cathode tube and sputter atoms off the aperture. Atoms collide with particles in the plasma causing excitation, photon emission and ionization of atoms which are measured by optical and mass spectrometers.

Abstract: A beverage can is provided with a tab having opening and sealing portions. The tab is riveted to the can lid in a central portion thereof with the opening portion being adjacent an openable area of the can lid which is defined by a continuous score line. The can is opened by lifting the sealing portion of the tab which causes downward movement of the opening portion which in turn impinges upon the openable area of the lid until an opening is formed. After forming the opening, the tab is rotated 180 degrees until the sealing recoverable portion is juxtaposed over the opening, thus covering the opening to keep out foreign matter. The tab is then pushed downwardly so that the sealing portion is fitted into the opening, thereby affecting a seal.
